@willallen99 i would recommend a nemeth or ote cause i've had a lot of good times and when you actually start throwin past 70 to 80m then try lookin into a nordic
Starting the pull on the shaft of the spear to soon...wait till the plant hits the ground, but make sure your hips are turning some before the block hits.
Not realy. I threw well over 30 at that time (started then and trained like few weeks, maybe 3-4). Now I'm going to upper secondary school and I can possibly throw 45-50 m. O, and I train javelin very rarely.
if your the second person than you have some smooth form dude. you must have a good jav coach with technique like that. the only fine tuning that i could really see was that you might want to pull the javelin through a little later in your position. it'll stretch you shoulder out more giving you arm more snap. but then again your not going 100%. maybe you do that already
you obviously know alot about javelin technique, I'm currently training and am desperate to improve, but having trouble with what to do to get the whipping action. My arm seems to bend way too soon and I lose all my power. Any ideas with so little info? Any drill ideas?
im trying to picture wat ur throw looks like, and they way i picture it, you need to drill keeping ur arm bak. work on hitting position, and when i say that, I mean coming into the power position for throwing. if u dont know what that looks like, pause some footage of guys like patronoff or zelezny right before they pull their arms thru for the throw. they are good examples of 2 main throwing positions for jav.
Thnx ryoz, I think ur right. Even watching these highschool kids, after you posted, I noticed that the second guys' power position has a large base (he takes a huge step, which allows for the arc in the back. I'm going to work on that and see what happens. Thnx again!
lol i'm not in highschool anymore even though this was senior year, but i won the atlantic 10 championship for TEMPLE UNIVERSITY, even though i've been injured the passed 2 seasons
You didn't even know it, but, your little highschool practice throwing video is helping me get better at javelin. As you can see in my previous posts, I'm not getting the whipping action right and losing power. Good to hear you've kept up with it.
i'm glad to see that it's helping you! i myself need to get better... all the throws from my senior in highschool and freshman year in college was with a sprained elbow... severe inflammation, with devistating pain everytime i threw
should the throwing arm be straight and not to "throw out the elbow"? cuz my coach told me to keep my elbow near my head during the throw and keep the arm straight.
well you can't keep your arm straight for the whole throw thats obvious first you bring your elbow through and then you fallow through with the rest of your arm.
You guys are looking a lot better! I promise not to nitpick. . . Eric- your left arm is still all over the place. Marco- you're not staying back on it quite long enough. I'll probably see you guys sometime in the next few weeks. I am doing practices if you want to come up sometime.
Technique looks pretty good. Just make sure to lock out that left leg. Other than that both of you are throwing through the tip so thats not an issue. Speed would benefit ya but you already know that.
i don't think you know what your talking about... my technique wasn't bad it just had a lack of power cause i was dead tired n'd my second one was a joke... i'm the one in the stupid looking spandex fyi
The main thing is to get a fastish run up and a good movement of your hips

Depends how old you are, if your younger than grade 10 you would use a 600 gram, in Ontario anyway you don't use 800g till your senior years

the piont should be at about a 30 degree angle where the point is right above eye level close to your face
