Maximum hold of breath is about 8-9 mins done be freedives, to do world record dives.
I believe the world record for a dive is around 120 m deep, but the guy went into chock right after he came to the surface so it didnt count.
I highly doubt that this is real, considering that he IS a magician capable of cheating people.

He inhaled pure oxygen for 23 minutes and his heart rate was monitored the entire time. Guinness set many strict guidelines for this record such as "up to 30 minutes of oxygen hyperventilation". The record only stood for four and a half months until it was broken by Tom Sietas. Sietas now holds the record with a time of 17:28 which was recorded by Guinness on 12/30/08 in Madrid Spain.

That's a bullcrap time. There are tribal fishermen in these unknown countries who swim to the bottom of sea beds to catch their fish and can hold their breathe for up to 50 minutes at a time

@spud94cg lol thats not even a little true, but neither is Davids record.. it was later revealed that this was a stunt and he was able to breathe at various times during the 17 minutes. Which is why David's "record" doesnt appear in the books of world records.

His hair is dry @ that time because as stated from the TED speech, he floated to the top because his legs were locked on the bottom, and he was scared that if he was going to blackout and the divers were going to go in, they would have a hard time removing his feet from the leg holders.
You can clearly see from the video clip that his head sticks out, which means that after he released his feet from the leg holders, he floated to the top, head + Hair still sticking out, but face in water still

Fake, the guys at the to of the tank were feeding him oxygen trough a thin pipe, thats why they all had those suits on, he should of just wore trunks. @chelseafortunato He only held his breath for 7 minuets because 2 days before his stunt the television broadcast station that was going to air it told him it would be to boring to just hold his breath, so he had to get out of a pair oh handcuffs WHILE holding his breath. That got rid of a lot of oxygen that was in him because he was using energy.
