  • I think this is posting from my wife's account, but daddy and my 4 year old Gio just enjoyed 2 soft boiled eggs thanks to this video! He said they were delicious and wants me to do it again tomorrow. Thanks for the video. Funny that I needed to go to YouTube to dare boil some eggs... :)

  • you may know how to soft boil an egg but you don't know where this came from

    /watch?v=bt-ikhaAk24

  • Egg is not cooked enough may cause sickness?

  • @Danyerd only if there is an e-coli outbreak. which doesn't happen in eggs more in beef and spinich. It's because in america (AND EUROPE) chicken/cow/pig farming is awful and filled with shit literally, when the shit doesn't get scooped it can seep into the soil and poison spinich and the beef you eat. If you're paranoid get free range eggs, literally no chance of salmonella/ecoli.

  • u made that egg very excited in the end...

  • Hahaha, yeah soldiers are what we call the rectangular pieces of toast in the UK. Pretty funny to see some peoples comments preaching about actual soldiers and how their brother in the navy doesn't like his eggs soft boiled SO THERE.

  • FUCKING LOVE BOILED EGG WITH SOLDIERS OMANOMANOM! .. I've never pierced the egg in my life, though...

  • yum i think i'll try that

  • I want a soft boiled egg with firm egg white and liquidy runny yolk can anyone teach me or tell me what title should I search on YouTube

  • @yopro987 i think that's 'poached'

  • @yopro987

place the egg in a in a pan ,add cold water to cover the egg completely

put the lid on, bring the water to rapid boil on high heat

turn off the heat and remain the lid cover for 5 mins

let the egg cool at 1-2 mins in cold water, done.

(i use extra large egg for this recipe, you might have to adjust the time a lil bit)

  • FDA website says that firstly eggs must not be pierced, and secondly; eggs must be cooked long enough so that the yolk is firm. Which of these videos tells the truth and which one can I sue?

  • Oh my...sorry, but the egg is just too "light" and squishy for me.

  • Soldiers! BABY HERE I COME Lmao

  • Lol wow i thought she was actually talking about the people soldiers i was scratching my head when she said that since when did soldiers have time to make a soft boiled egg and have an egg cup with them? lol

  • Loool, are people really thinking that shes talking about actually 'soldiers'! LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

  • I just got a smosh video as a advertisement? best advertisement ever though

  • And the egg yolk spills.....

  • puncture a raw egg with a pin?? 0.0 made me frown with food in my mouth...

  • ahhh my childhood..

  • its not exactly... its going to change depending on your height above sea level....

  • safarin sakatash

  • hahaha i didnt think i would find angry comments in a how to soft boil a egg video sheesh some people are wound to tight

  • @scottishwun SHUT YOUR MOUTH GUY

  • What a bored and boring voice this girl has.

    Terrible.

  • But eggs differ in size.. and I've never had a soft boiled egg if done for 4 minutes AND been in the water whilst it came up to boiling point..

  • I Poke a hole -.- And It fail -.- wtf

  • fucking dumb bitch ... how dare she talk about soldiers with that accent.

  • @Angryjanitor3 What the fuck is your problem mate? At least she's doing something useful not like you. No one wants your negative comments keep them to yourselves. Anyone can talk about soldiers regardless of their accent. You're just extremely retarded.

  • @Angryjanitor3 Are you a moron? 'Soldiers' is the name of the food, not actual soldiers who serve in an army. You're calling HER a dumb bitch when you're the dumb one here. The irony kills me.

  • @Angryjanitor3

LMFAOOOOOO. She means the toast. XD XD XD.

  • DUMB PPLS SHOULD NT COMMENT. BY SOLDIERS SHE MEANT THE RECTANGULAR TOASTS NOT THE PEOPLE. SHEESH. AGAIN I SAY DUMB PEOPLE SHOULD JUST SHUT UP OR PEOPLE KNOW HOW STUPID YOU ARE.

  • Yeah. It's easy for soldiers to eat. Smash the egg and get messy yolk everywhere. Oh by the way. Use magic to get some fucking toast while watching for car bombs. Or..... Unwrap a power bar.... ?

  • perfect for soldiers my arse.

my brother is in the royal artillery and he said he didn't like his eggs done your way.

but my cousin is in the royal navy and he loved them.

so please say from now on ''perfect for sailors'' thank you.

  • Yes, because veryone has an egg cup

  • @Snapple448 i dont have it

  • @stellaandreanna I was being sarcastic....

  • @Snapple448 DONT STEAL MY FACE!

  • Guys and Girls try my method, Perfect egg in my opinion.

Water to boil on full heat, once simmering place egg or eggs into the pan, water should be just over the egg by half an inch, boil the egg for exactly 1 and a half minutes turn the heat off and put the saucepan lid onto the pan and leave the egg or eggs to simmer for 4 and a half minutes. Bon Appetit

  • now all you have to do is learn ow to cook fucking toast with outuot burning it or was it brown bread

  • put in da egg, wait until water is boiled, then wait exactly 4 minutes, and pronto, ready is the soft boiled egg. :D

  • this fucking sucks

  • This video is soldierist! Or should I say occupationist? hmm...

  • No PIN folks!!! jus slowly lower it into a fast boil it shudnt crack!!! it never cracks with me!! like the bird sez 4 minutes!!! timing is the key! EGGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It's just like undercooking a hard-boiled egg.

  • Soldiers are what they call the thin strips of toast in Europe

  • why is it perfect for soldiers/

  • boiled 1? lol

  • I've never had eggs this way. I don't even think restaurants are allowed to prepare them this way. Health department is too scared of salmonella.

  • @VictorLepanto It's delicious, try it, but don't waste the whites like the Brits do, take the whole think and smear the white and yolk on a piece of toast and dash Tabasco on it. Also - not dangerous, salmonella doesn't live in the yolk. Just make sure the whites are done.

  • @VictorLepanto you cant get salmonella from it, people do eat egg raw too

  • @Miyok0Chan: Oh yes you can. I wouldn't make this w/ any typical store bought eggs. I'd have to pick it up from a farm, fresh laid that day to trust it. I've worked modern industrial egg & chicken farms. Don't trust their products.

  • @VictorLepanto oh :) well we have our own chickens so i guess it's not a problem for us ahah.

  • I'm in the army. we get 7 minutes to eat max. Your wrong lady. definatly not perfect for us.

  • @MrCorkydork Soldiers are what they call the slices of toast.

  • Yum!

  • @cgiwattgrrl99 add some soy sauce and white pepper and you'll forget how raw it is.

  • hmm. you wasted the top part of the egg..

  • I like mine a bit firmer than that, almost custard like, but the yellow not hard enough to lighten. About 7-9 mins approximately two to three songs on my playlist, depending on how long the song is.

  • mine came out hard boiled too. and by the way, f..k the commercial :(

  • Brittish

  • never had to pierce a egg in my life....

  • Yep as others have mentioned 2 minutes from boiling point works for me. The egg keeps cooking on the plate.

  • Does one usually crack the head of the egg with a spoon before removing it? To me that method seems a little unorthodox

  • @PoshMop yeah a real orthodox wouldn't do such a thing :P

  • she sound like duffy duck LOL

  • eggs over easy cooked in a buttered skillet work for me best

  • perfect for soldiers? wtf?

  • @Island728 soldiers are those things she dipped into egg

  • Mine turned into a cock.

  • @Chaoitcme Well that's what you get for waiting too long!

  • something about the soldiers going into that egg isn't exactly PG rated to me

  • Comment removed

  • cheers for the pinprick method but 4mins way 2 long.2mins exactly i found gave you the perfect runny egg yum yum

  • @mcguinnessav in what heat did you soft boil your egg?

  • Yeah, for me 4 minutes created what Americans would probably consider soft boiled, as in firm whites and a yolk about half cooked, but this consistently wasn't dippable for my toast sticks. Two minutes worked well for that, although some of the white was a bit gelatinous.

  • Remember when youtube didn't have commercials every other video?

  • @HeeroYuy424 Remember when youtube was free? Oh wait, youtube is free because of the commercials.

  • @Repudation That's because you are the product.

  • @HeeroYuy424 u dumbass

  • @HeeroYuy424 yep, but that's how youtube makes money. DUH

  • @HeeroYuy424 Vaaaaaguely...

  • @HeeroYuy424 I love my director's account, no ads ever

  • @HeeroYuy424 Get adblock for firefox :)

  • @Adawg4008 thank goodness I'm not the only one who uses that! :D

  • Adblocker says "what ads?"

  • SIMMER THE WATER FIRSTT,,,,THEN ADD THE EGG,.AND IS ONLY 3 MINUTES FOR A PERFECLY SOFT BOIL EGG...

  • I'm not usually biased towards products that happen to have been made in my own country, because my countrymen usually do a great job of fucking up food and ripping off the consumer. But by far the best butter I have ever tasted is Kerrygold.

  • fuck this im hungry

  • you only need 2 min.

  • 4minutes is way to long' "hard boil"

  • This is not for a soft boil this will make your egg hard boiled

  • A better way is to put eggs in cold water and have the water cover the eggs by at least 2 inches.

wait for it to boil on high and then time it for between 1:30 to 2 mins. (this all depends on your stove, cookware etc)

then rinse underwater to stop it from over cooking.

    if you

  • kudos for the pin trick! I used to love soldiers when I was a kid.

  • but will it blend?

  • @sorgasmic i saw wut u did thar

  • Egg and soldiers!!! Love them! Oh but have to use clover butter for the soldiers! The timing is crucial but it also depends where you are and the type of water in that place. Where I grew up it takes exactly 2 mins from a fast boil. But now I am further up north it takes 4 mins. Took a few failed attempts to figure out the perfect timing here lol!

  • @aoiskies nah its gotta be anchor butter, anythin else you get a crack over the ed from me mar

  • would hard boiled not be better for soldiers, incase they run out of ammo they can throw them:P

  • @ravensday1 LOL THAT TOTALLY MADE MY DAY HAHAHAHAHAHa

  • @ravensday1 No no no. This way when the soldiers throw them the enemy has egg on their face and can't see. =D

  • @ravensday1 pckled would be better, they would hurt if they hit the eyes

  • @ravensday1 you're clever!

  • Remember it CANT be the same time all around the world, many factors are involved mainly the altitude the city you are in.

  • My grandma used to always give me those soldiers when i was little! My mom did too!!!

  • Never knew about the pin trick

  • Love soft boiled eggs, but since my dad passed away haven't been able to recreate them! Thanks! Best way to serve them is with jasmine rice and bacon! Yum! :)

  • you can add salt to the water instead of poking a hole in it

  • She wasted like half the egg, the way she opened the egg, and the way she dipped the egg.

  • I madr it perfectly.. HAHA :)

  • *trumpet* WAHH WAHHHHH WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • Wow, when i first saw this I thought, "Pin? Who needs one, that's never happened to me!"

    *boils egg* BOOM!

.........okay, i'll start using a pin from now on....

  • It's a bit too soft boiled for me -__- why can't I get the perfect soft boiled egg... runny yolk and boiled egg white.... That egg white is not boiled!

  • @dansan boil it for six minutes not four to get a boiled white and soft yolk.

  • thank you for the video

  • As soon as it starts boiling time 2 1/2 minutes not 4 like she said. I've always done 2 1/2 minutes for a normal sized egg and it has always been gooey!

    mmmmmmmmm!

  • @escapedmentalman Bang on its 2.5 mins not 4 mins

  • im hungry now after waching this video

  • there is no finer food than a boiled egg :)

  • british accent sounds royal

  • what's with the soldiers.. :)

  • @kch538 soft boiled egg. knock off the top and dip in strips of toast. great stuff

  • Comment removed

  • @phillyasnballer bread...

  • @phillyasnballer Bread ??????

  • I did this but I used rather small egg so they were half hard boiled so maybe the size of the egg is an important factor when using this technique

  • put the egg in boiling water (without the pin.. lol wth was that?) leave it for exactly 3 min take time, tho if its a jumbo egg leave it for 3 and a half minutes, and its done, the trick now is to peal the egg without destroying it for example Ramen noodles :) good luck ^^

  • @TheDriftKing91 thats exactly how I make mines for my Ramen noodles :)

  • I like the pin trick, thanks for the tips! I plan to try this but using a previous reviewer's kettle idea (brilliant!) Mmmm, time for breakfast for dinner...

  • Mine came out hard boiled. :P

  • @soldout99 u need to boil it for only 5-6 mins only

  • @soldout99 that's because you were watching porn while boiling the egg. lol

  • wow, every video ive seen from you involve eggs... r u the egg man?

  • boooooo to commercials

  • Goddamnit. Now I have to go boil an egg!

  • Also bear in mind there are roughly speaking

    Small Hens egghegh

    Medium hens eggs

    and Larrghge Hen Eggs

    at boiling point

    s = 3.30.0 - 3.45.0 Secs

    m = 4.10.0 -4.15.0 Secs

    L = 4.35.0 - 4.50.0 Secs

add an extra 15 - 20 seconds if you like em tougher.

  • @Hexachloraphine thankyou so much for them trinkets of wonder, what next your fail proof plan for buttering toast, or even how to open a box of muesli and apply to dish

  • @raplunks

No I just can't seem to do toast, it's a fookin nightmare.

But I do have a Friend who is Expert at removing all of the Raisins from A box of Muesli, which I think is inspired cos it has always struck me as odd that you can't purchase such a substance.

  • I would just like to point out, speaking as an expert egg boiler, that this video shows the water level being lower than that of the egg is THIS IS TO BE AVOIDED..

in my experience this can on occasions lead to parts of the egg being fully cooked, whereas the part of the egg exposed to the air does not get cooked as much.

hate to be anal but this is a video claiming to tell you how to do something correctly. but it leaves out the finer details...which is what egg boiling is all about.

  • ive never tried eggs..but you made it look good :)

  • @romo111213 You've never ate eggs? o_O

  • yummm

  • The result looks great and makes me hungry, but it's a lot quicker to boil the water in an electric kettle.

First thing in the morning, who wants to wait while gas boils a pan of water? The kettle has to go on anyway for the coffee.

  • soft boiled eggs are godlike

  • omg im soooo craving one of those. no a bunch of them 8DDD

  • i use to add a bit of salt while eating boiled eggs cuz its tasty

  • @smartbro678 Salt! Thats it? My taste has developed much further. I love Hard boiled with Salt, Pepper, and a tad bit of mustard.

  • @Krondelo yeah because i want it simple so thats it only salt simple as that

  • @smartbro678 Yea I understand, just saying thats how I used to eat em, Simply Salt. Its good!

  • no no no, worst case scenario, your egg will sprout wings and fly away D: lololol

  • i tried without pin and egg was hard boiled, my soldiers could not penetrate the yolk. total disaster!

  • hahahahah!! sounds hilarious!

  • what if i dont have a pin?

  • @raplunks the egg can sometimes crack probably 2 ot of 5 eggs will crack and the whites can spill out u can still eat them tho the damage isnt too bad...worst case senario is the egg will jump out the pan and roll upstairs

  • @dave00dance Wow, I didnt expect to laugh that hard. Good one!

  • @dave00dance

Just put a splash of neutral vinegar (rice, apple) into the water - it will prevent the egg from rolling upstairs :)

Seriously: the vinegar helps to coagulate (or better unwind) the ovalbumin - wich is the major part of the egg white.

another solition is using pure alcohol instead of water, which works too - but cooking an egg in 100%ig booze is a bit expensive :)

watch?v=XRP3K4Kj4Zs for more details on this (german)

  • buy one doofus de only 30 p

  • @raplunks

you could just use the tip of a knife

  • @DeeperBlueX16 thanx, i shall try this. i do love a nice runny boiled egg!!

  • mine always have that awful clear slime goo :( i will see how this goes last time 4 mins it hard boiled them :(((

  • @dave00dance

That's how it is for me.

My stove top boils water pretty fast, but the yolk always gets hard before the rest of the egg.

It's really a trial and error process, as lots of stoves cooks differently. Which is why I usually soft boil a cracked egg(poached) in a plastic eggshell. No peeling, I can see if the white stuff is finished, and can tell if the yolk is hard or not.

  • @dave00dance just mix the clear with the yolk its just as good alot chefs do this more dipping

  • I like what my grampa used to make w/softboiled eggs, take 2 or 3 soft boiled eggs mixed w/crumbled toast and bacon in a camping cup and wa lah! You have Campers delight! A dash of the old salt and pepper gives it a nice pick me as well.

  • i tried it, it was delicious.

  • BUT I DO HAVE TO SAY TO ME IT LOOKS GOOD

  • The problem with this video is that this does not cook all the white all the way through so you get runny yoke but the white is a horrible mess which personaly makes be feel ill.

Best way too cook an egg for me is to place the egg (the pin idea is good) in already boiling water and time it for about 7-8 mins. 8 mins will get you perfect soft egg, but not running. Less will make it slightly runnier but dont go too much less or it wont cook the white like I said.

  • If you use the same method and use five eggs at the same time will they all be soft boiled the same? Thanks

  • cooking time may vary from the number of eggs, the volume of the water and boths initial temperature...

  • It's interesting because the way I eat soft boiled eggs is after they have been soft boiled I peel the shell off and place them in a bowl (norm. 5 soft boiled eggs) using only 5 whites and 1 of the yokes. Sprinkled with blk pepper and salt. Eaten with a spoon...

  • @A2Kaid Could you tell me how you soft boil them and peel the shells off without having chunks of egg come off with the shell? Every time I soft boil eggs and peel them the damned shell pulls humongous chunks of white out of the egg and I'm left with almost nothing afterward. Isn't there some kind of trick to having the shell peel easily and smoothly?

  • Yes, I have an excellent technique that works, so I'll try to explain the best I can.

First I break the top portion of the egg using the spoon, just peel or hit off the egg shell from the upper part of the egg.

Second take the spoon and scoop out all the egg white and part you want, leaving the hard egg shell intact...See you don't have to remove the egg shell bit by bit, just peel off the top part, put your spoon inside and scoop out the inside...

I hope that was clear enough...

  • wow. so when you do this is the egg still wholly intact? and how far down should I crack the egg in order to peel the top shell off? like half way? thanks im going to try this

  • Yes that correct most of the egg will be intact. Just crack the egg 1/4 of the way from the top halfway isn't necessary... Remove 1/4 of the egg shell from the top of the egg and with a spoon scoop the the egg out from it's shell...it's so easy a cavemen could do it.

  • for soldiers?

  • @a4o31 "soldiers" means toast and butter in britain

  • @zuiprax i see :D kool

  • @a4o31

You probably thought it was perfect for the Army..lol it's okay I at first didn't know what it meant either..
