John 14:6 The main problem is that most Catholics, I know several, don't, or haven't, understood that its not Mary they should be praying to. Properly conceived, Catholics know they are asking Mary to pray FOR them. The controversy of whether the dead can hear us or not also ties into this. Careful examination of scripture points to them not being able to hear us.
@Guyll21 Your funny. You Protestants have Heaven all asleep & non active. No ones up there doing Battle with Satan? No Angels,no Saints,no Heavenly Hosts.Just our Lord.In case you haven't noticed,we are at WAR! Who do you think fights on our behalf on the other side?Only our Lord?Well,I happen to believe MY GOD wants us on earth & them under the Alter of God to join in & Partake of the VICTORY! THIS is the differance between us & you.
Virgin Mary didn't know what happened in our world today she in heaven already. So why we pray for her or ask her our needs? Why we don't just pray to Jesus Christ our Lord because he is living with us everyday.Does the Bible says that we worship her or even the saints?Even the angels in heaven says don't worship or thank me just praise & worship God in heaven.God's law is simple,it's man misunderstanding to make them complex.Love,Peace,Joy & Hope to everyone!
"When Mary is honored, her Son is duly acknowledged, loved and glorified, and His commandments are observed. To venerate Mary correctly means to acknowledge her Son, for she is the Mother of God. To love her means to love Jesus, for she is always the Mother of Jesus. To pray to our Lady means not to substitute her for Christ, but to glorify her Son who desires us to have loving confidence in His Saints, especially in His Mother.
@28804ecorrell "Idolatry:the worship of a physical object as a god, immoderate attachment or devotion to something". Under catholic doctrine, the catholics may not consider Mary as a Goddess, but they do have a severe immoderate attachment and devotion to her and the saints. In addition, they have statues of Jesus, they bow down to statues of Jesus and pray to the statues, they worship a physical object as Jesus. Denying catholic idolatry would be completely dishonest.
Catholics are in denial. You do indeed worship Mary. I was raised Catholic - so don't reply with "you don't know what you're talking about." The Bible says that no idolator will inheret the Kingdom of God" (1 Cor 6:10). In other words, if you choose to worship Mary, you will end up in hell. Jesus is the answer. He is the ONLY way to the Father in Heaven. Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, repent, obey and be saved!
@edadan2009 "if you choose to worship Mary, you will end up in hell." Then we Catholics have nothing to worry about because we don't worship her. And no matter how many times you say we do, at the end of they we know we don't. And by your own words, you show you do NOT believe Jesus is the only way. If He truly was in your world view, we would be saved because we do believe in Jesus.
If you don't worship her, then why do you build statues of her? Why do you flock to places where "she" appears? Why do you bow down to her likeness (graven images) and pray before her? As I said, you are in denial. Not trying to offend you - my mom, dad, brothers, sister, etc are all Catholic. I want you to wake up and realize that you are heading for hell.
BTW, just believing in Jesus will not save you - you MUST obey Him. Read you Bible and do what it says.
1. "Why do you build statues to her?" Same reason people make statues or take pictures of anyone. To commemorate them.
2. "Where do you flock to places she appears?" How does flocking to a place any famous person lived in mean worshiping them? I remember me in my family when to Vermont to visit Washington's home. We don't worship George Washington.
3. "Why do you bow to her likeness (graven images)" Statues aren't graven images. (continued see next comment)
@edadan2009 (continued) Were the angels on the ark of the covenant or the Bronze Serpent that Moses made, graven images?
4. "I want you to wake up and realize you are headed for Hell" NO, you are NOT God. You can NOT make that decision
5. "Just believing in Jesus won't save you" Sorry, I thought you were one of those "Once Saved Always Saved" type of Protestants. That's why I used that counter argument. Sorry for assuming.
6. "Read your Bible" I will! Catholic books are great read!
If God has already said that no idolator will inherit the Kingdom of God, then idolators will go to hell, right? That's not my decision, that's God's Word to us. Praying to Mary (or anyone other than God), bowing down to statues, etc are all forms of idolatry. God's Word says that there is ONE mediator between God and man - and His name is JESUS. (1 Tim 2:5)
BTW, if the Bible is a Catholic book - then Moses and all the other prophets were also Catholic?
@edadan2009 "BOW DOWN" to statues???? You actually act like we fall flat on the floor before the statue. We kneel down before it, and we've done a slight bow OUT OF RESPECT. Like an actor bows before an audience. He doesn't worship the audience does he? And praying to Mary doesn't interfere with Christ mediatorship. We pray to her so she can pray for us like Christians ask each other to pray for one another. And BTW, the Catholic Church canonized the Bible even if the Jewish people wrote it.
As I said in my original comment, you are in denial. You make excuses to try and justify your actions. But, God will not let any idolator into Heaven. I have already shown you in God's Word where He says that Jesus is the ONLY mediator - but you ignore God and follow the traditions of man. How are you any different than the Pharisees that Jesus rebuked so harshly? He even said that Satan was their father. Is he yours too?
@edadan2009 The Bible was based on traditions. The Bible was put together in the year 400. Before that there was just oral tradition. Learn history! Not just the Bible. In fact, if you're so Anti-Catholic. Stay away from the Bible, it's a Catholic Book. And no I don't mean we wrote it all, I mean we canonized it and put it together. In fact, our Bible is based off 73 books. How many does YOUR Bible have? 66? What happened to others? Luther. He took 7 out. YOUR Bible is missing 7 books. OOPS!
The Bible was based on tradition? That's not what God says about it:
"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work." (2 Tim 3:16-17)
It was the Pharisees that practiced the traditions of man - Jesus rebuked them very harshly for this. Again, He said that Satan was their father. (John 8:44)
@edadan2009 You just ignored everything I just said. So I'm ending the conversation. Anyone who believes a person is wrong without seeing the other side is lacks logic. Good bye, God bless and I hope you find the truth.
@edadan2009 You...edadan2009 are getting into arguments with people on here...not good at all. Please do us a favor and learn the truth before you come bashing away at folks...you are NOT understanding the Bible...Have a priest help you figure it out instead of coming here!
The Greeks worshiped a pagan "queen of heaven" called Isis. The Catholic Church refers to THESE types of "idols" as false gods. Mary, the MOTHER of God was chosen, hand-picked by God, revered by Jesus and is our true Queen of Heaven. We pray TO Mary on behalf of sinners (us and others) and she comes to our aid as a real earthly Mother would.
"For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time, for which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle—I am speaking the truth in Christ and not lying—a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth." (1 Tim 2:5-7)
This scripture says there is only ONE mediator and His name is Jesus. Why then do you disobey God by saying that Mary is your mediator?
@edadan2009 It is amazing how people can see, read and hear the TRUTH but not be swayed by the truth. Mary is highly venerated in the Catholic Church and is Mediatrix for Lord Jesus. The rosary is a POWERful set of prayers. I know Protestants pull out their tag lines from the Bible, it is no secret they trash Catholics. ..but in the end you will know who Mary is and how important she is.
My goal is not to trash the Catholics - I come from a Catholic family and I love my family. My goal is to point you to the truth. However, if God's Word is nothing more than "tag lines" to you, then there is no hope for you.
@edadan2009 You "come from" a Catholic family....then why are you not baptized Catholic? You misinterpret me about the tag lines...and you have misinterpreted the message in Timothy. Why do you not explore these questions you have right here on YouTube...there is a TON of Catholic answers for you to learn! Besides...I already know the truth young lady...YOU are still searching, but you may be going about it the wrong way.
How have I misinterpreted 1 Tim 2:5-7? You say that I need a priest to explain it to me. I have had The Priest - Jesus Christ, explain it to me through His Holy Spirit. You're sure that you have the truth - just as you seem to be sure that I am a young lady. Now if you're wrong about me (and you are), then could you be wrong about other beliefs that you have?
Besides all this, the only time we actually read of a queen in the book of Revelation is in Rev. 18:7:
Give her as much torture and grief as the glory and luxury she gave herself. In her heart she boasts, “I sit as queen; I am not a widow, and I will never mourn.”
The context of that verse is Babylon the great, which gets destroyed in one hour! Hence, Mary is never shown in the Scriptures to be Queen of heaven, as exalted by Catholicism.
If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. (Gal 3:29)
I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star. (Rev 22:16)
This is possible because Christianity has its roots in Judaism, with the Messiah and the apostles all being Jewish and Christians being the children of the promise, who are regarded as Abraham’s offspring:
The twelve stars are the twelve tribes of Israel. See also Gen 49:1-28.
But what about the rest of the woman’s offspring—those who obey God’s commandments and hold to the testimony of Jesus, as mentioned in Rev. 12:17? Who are they? If Israel is the woman clothed with the sun in Rev. 12, then her offspring are saints described as those who obey God’s commandments and hold to the testimony of Jesus.
Then he [Joseph] had another dream, and he told it to his brothers. “Listen,” he said, “I had another dream, and this time the sun and moon and eleven stars were bowing down to me.” When he told his father as well as his brothers, his father rebuked him and said, “What is this dream you had? Will your mother and I and your brothers actually come and bow down to the ground before you?” (Gen 37:9,10)
On the other hand, if we understand the woman to be symbolic of Israel, then we have the nation of Israel fleeing into the desert for 1,260 days to get away from the devil at the end of this age. This would also fit the symbolic interpretation of a crown with twelve stars on her head:
If the Catholic church literally interprets Rev. 12:1-5 as to portray Mary in glorious splendor standing on the moon with twelve stars on her head as though she is Queen, then they should also picture her with two eagle wings as she is also described as having! Maybe this is why the Catholic church only refers to the first part of Rev. chapter 12, but not the latter end (verses 13 and 14) which also describes this symbolic woman.
Clearly, the woman is symbolic for she is given eagle wings to fly out into the desert to be protected from the devil. Question: When did Mary, the mother of Jesus, sprout wings and fly out into the desert for her own protection?
When the dragon saw that he had been hurled to the earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child. The woman was given the two wings of a great eagle, so that she might fly to the place prepared for her in the desert, where she would be taken care of for a time, times and half a time, out of the serpent’s reach (Rev. 12:13,14).
Among those details are the mention of a red dragon (v.3) who is later identified as the devil (v.9). The devil is concerned about the child and wants to kill him immediately after birth. Instead of the devil succeeding, the child is taken up to God and his throne. The devil pursues the woman into the desert after losing his conflict with Michael:
Because of verse rev 12: 5, we know this woman is associated with Jesus, but in what way? Is it a maternal association with Mary or by birth as through ancestry? The only way we will know is by carefully considering the other details found in this same chapter (and elsewhere in Scripture).
Devotion to Mary IS BIBLICAL. in the book of Luke (Luke 1:48) she says: "Henceforth all generations shall call me Blessed" Which Church calls her the "Blessed Virgin Mary"???
@MsCynthia56 The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the QUEEN OF HEAVEN...that they may provoke me to anger” —Jeremiah 7:18
@MsCynthia56 Yes indeed she will always be called blessed! But she is NOT to be worshipped and prayed to, that is the sole privelage of Jesus Christ and God.
@MrCraigfarrow Nobody worships her & if they do they have a faulty understanding of their faith. Protestantism ALSO has a faulty understanding of bothe scripture & truth. It haS only been around since the 1500's & has rejected truth & the teaching Authority given by CHRIST when he gave keys o/t kingdom to PETER (1st Pope) prior to that people have always asked for the intercession of those in Heaven & there is nothing wrong with doing so. Prots belittle Mary & will be punished
@MsCynthia56 Please enlighten me as to what truths we don`t understand? The scriptures are perfectly plain! Mary is indeed Blessed but NOWHERE is she given the title of Queen of Heaven. Commandment number 2 (The real one) is quite explicit about graven images and Idols to ANYONE and ANYTHING. NO Church has the authority to change laws and times! The Pope is not entitled to call himself the "Holy Father" that is usurping a title of God.
@MrCraigfarrow As I have ALREADY explained to you, we do not worship her, we simply give her HONOR as the mother of Jesus. Further, The prot Bible is incomplete, and altered by the reformers and NOWHERE in scripture does it say that scripture ALONE is sufficient. The Church the LORD founded when JESUS gave t keys to PETER )Pope) was given teaching authority that no other Church was given. We are at the end of the age now, & the prot church will not survive
@MsCynthia56 Err yes I think rev 17 decribes this church (ooops) but that said, it is also clear that many of Gods people will be found in her! Scripture is our ONLY guide as to the truth of what anyone is teaching, The Vulgate itself gives the TRUE list of commandments! Who changed it? why? and on what authority? Christ himself didn`t see fit to change the law and commandments.
They did not rewrite the bible. They merely "rephrased" and "reordered" the ten commandments. Thus concealing the intent of them. This is what happens when the church was over ran by pagan converts.
Did you know the word "vatican" was made up of two words which translated means "prophetic serpent". Named after the hill on which it is built. It was the location of an oracle and a necropolis that had been erected and used.
@onemarktwoyou Yes I`ve heard that about the Vatican 2 (no pun intended) but I have been unable to verify it independantly! Any help with that would be very welcome :)
Vatican meanings? Some also said "seat of the serpent" This was related to use of the oracle. And is justified in context.
Vatis-diviner,soothsayer,prophet. Can-serpent(some stretch it to mean dragon). Thus I believe it to be "prophetic serpent". Snakes in the Greco-Roman area was used often to for tell.
Some will break the word up differently to twist its meaning. But remember to keep in mind what the hill was being used for.
@ChrisDaron Luther was the beginning of the reformation, not the end! Could you please direct me to the scriptures that hail Mary as the Queen of Heaven? and also commandment number 2 while we are on the subject of ignorance.
The Protestants call us Idolators? They are the EPITOME of Idol Worshipers - they worship ink in a book when they misinterpret Holy Scripture! They have no authority whatsoever to interpret Scripture, yet they do so without any impunity and as a result there are over 35,000 different Protestant Sects all worshiping their own Personal Version of Jesus Christ, each heretic believing that THEIR version is correct and all the others are wrong.
@drdst17 Friend, your Roman Church is the greatest counterfiet ever pulled off by Satan. Scripture tells us clearly in Acts 11:26 that the disciples were first called CHRISTIANS in Antioch: They were not called CATHOLICS; they were called CHRISTIANS. Your church knowingly removed the 2nd commandment of God that warns against bowing to statues, because she knew she's guilty of it. If you really love Mary the mother of Jesus, you'll flee from the RCC because they bow to an idol, calling it Mary
@73geneva The Church did not remove any commandments. The 10 commandments are nowhere numbered in the Bible. Two schemes go back to Origen and Augustine (both Catholic, BTW). The one you like is Origen's, the modern Catholic numbering is Augustine's. These lists are summaries, not meant to be completely detailed. The Catholic Catechism expounds on it's list, describing the details you accuse the Church of deleting.
@AmericanBerean Come on, in the Catholic Cathecism does not mention where God warned against bowing down to statues; it does not. Every Catholic child that attends cathecism recites these commandments, just as they are taught and never mentions bowing down to statues because it's not there. I guess the words of Augustine and Origen and some other fellow are more credible than what God Himself said.
@73geneva Paragraphs 2084-2132 describe the ban on worshiping as God anything/anyone not God. You think bowing is equal to worship/adoration. It's not necessarily worship. Asian cultures bow to show respect and honor to others (even the Christian ones). Just so, if I bow in prayer before a statue of Mary, I am not worshiping her. She is not the source of all grace. When I kneel or bow before the consecrated host, I am indeed worshiping and adoring, because it is God.
@AmericanBerean God warns explicitly that we should not bow before any statue in prayer. He is omniscient and clearly states we should not bow to anything, even in heaven. It's only expected that we obey Him to the letter. About Queen Of Heaven, your arguement would have held water if anywhere in scripture God says we should call Mary Queen Of Heaven, inspite of the other QOH. But He never said so anywhere. No one ever called Mary that, thus we are left with only one QOH, which God hated.
@73geneva The word "bow" in this context means "worship as God", not merely bowing and praying. As I said, bowing is just proper etiquette in some cultures. Praying is not in itself, worship. To pray means to ask. While some prayer can be worshipful, I don't pray worshipfully to Mary, just petitionally.
The context is important. It's like Matt5:22, don't call someone "fool". He is speaking primarily to the disposition of the heart. In this case, feeling unrighteous anger toward someone.
@73geneva Mary as "Queen of Heaven" is implicit in Scripture. As I said before, by the fact that she is the mother of the King of Heaven she is the Queen of Heaven. God tells us to honor our mother and father. Hence, we honor Mary, our spiritual mother. She is so because she is the spouse of the Holy Spirit. Jesus also establishes this for us when he said to the disciple He loved, "Behold, your mother".
@AmericanBerean My defense remains on the word of God. He expressly warned against praying to the QOH. If there had been anywhere in the NT where Mary was referred to as Queen of Heaven, surely, we would proclaim her as such. But like I said the only QOH in the scripture is one that made God very angry. Yes, John and the other disciples honoured Mary, and we ought to too; but they never called her QOH. Anway, you're a gentleman and I respect your civility in defending what you believe. Cheers.
@73geneva More flawed Scripture interpretations from heretical Protestants. You completely misinterpret Acts 11:26 and ignore St. Ignatius of Antioch who first called the Christian Church "Catholic" - it means "universal" in Greek.
You have absolutely no knowledge of what we Catholics believe: if you did, you would know that we do not worship Mary or any of the Saints: we pray to them for intercession. It is a special way of honoring them.
@drdst17 If you truly believe in the inherency of the Bible you wouldn't even utter those words. Come on, if God had deemed it fit He'd have included your St. Ignatius as one of the men He inspired to author the Bible. Your claims of St. Ignatius are ludicrous because he was a RC who wanted to validate his belief, thereby mixing it with the true church founded by Jesus. I never said you worship dead saint; don't say something false.
@73geneva St. Ignatius of Antioch lived around A.D. 100, and was a student of John the Apostle. I think that makes his opinions of the Church quite valid. Unless John the Apostle wasn't "inspired", according to your logic. St. Ignatius was appointed Bishop of Antioch by St. Peter himself! Direct apostolic succession. The Holy Catholic Church exists because it was one of the reasons Jesus was sent to Earth. The Bible was written by Catholics, for Catholics, and is a Catholic Document.
@drdst17 Funny. If your St. Ignatius was truly a student of John as you claim, he would have followed the teachings of his master to the letter. Show me where John spoke about praying to Mary or dead Christians. John lived with Jesus; he wrote 5 books in the Bible, yet he never for once mentioned anything of such. And here you are referring me to your St. Ignatius. Gal 1:8 says even if an angel from heaven preaches another gospel he should be called accursed. You preach another gospel, my friend
@73geneva Talking to you is like talking to a brick wall - you make the same error over and over again thinking that your own personal interpretation of the Bible (a Catholic Document) is inspired by the Holy Spirit. The Word is inspired, but YOU my friend are NOT.
You are a heretic who substitutes your own personal beliefs over the Truth that is found in Christ's Church. It is hugely arrogant and only serves to further the division of Christ's family.
@drdst17 You have no cogent Biblical doctrine to validate your claims, while I, in turn prooved you wrong with the inherent word of God; the Bible. Scripture never mentioned St. Ignatius, why should I believe what he said, instead of what God has said? You can call me whatever you like, but I never said anything that is not in the Bible. If you truly believe the Bible as the final authority you won't even mention St. Ignatius here. You need Jesus more, to forgive you for idolatory.
politicaltourist---you are incorrect as usual, there is plenty of evidence that Peter was in rome, writings of scholars of the time period reference this. And since protestantism did not exist until the 1500's, that makes YOU the heretic. Further, if you are sick of our beliefs, TOO BAD coz we are sick of your attacks and dark spirit. We are now in the time period of REVELATION and true you will persecute us, but we win the final battle as all enemies of the Church will be swept away
If you are truly a christian and actually read scripture and open to the Holy Spirit, then go to the book of Revelations 12 and you will read about apparition of Our Lady. However, there is an agenda by men (freemasons) to destroy the catholic church and it looks like all these numerous blasphemous videos against Jesus's mother and all bashing of her. Not christian and offends Jesus. How would you like someone to talk bad about your mother?
@maddie7111 Ive read Revelation chapter 12. There is nothing there to indicate that the woman who gave birth to the male child was sinless, underwent predemptive redemption, was conceived immaculately or a perpetual virgin. Is it not time the Catholic Church stop deciding for God what he actually meant and begin to follow his word as can be clearly traced in the scripture? Is there no limit to the arrogance and craftiness of the modern Catholic Church as it makes up even more fantastic theorem?
A doctrine of the Catholic Church is that of "preventive redemption". If Mary like every mortal needed redemption but at the same time wasn't subject to the original sin this implies that God decided that she should never sin. That took away her freedom to chose to sin or not. If so, she is the first and last mortal who was deprived of freedom of choice. If indeed she did have freedom of choice (thus in need of redemption) but still not subject to sin that implies she was not human...
@politicaltourist God foresaw Mary's "Yes" to His plan and kept her free from sin. This doesn't mean she had not the freedom to say "No". She just didn't suffer from the disordered desires which we have, being born with the stain of Original Sin. She had MORE freedom than we have, to choose sin or not because she saw it all clearly. We suffer from those disordered desires and so we tend to sin, so we have less freedom in that sense.
@AmericanBerean S you saying Mary was a super human or a demi goddess or something or another that the bible has never spoken about. We know of 3 types of beings - divine (the trinity), angelic/satanic (angels and demons) and human (by default sinners). Now this 4th category you speak about (Mary that has free will but unlike other humans is unable to sin because she was conceived immaculately and from the moment of her conception is in touch with God is a new category. Where is the proof?
@politicaltourist Scripture, implicitly: The root concept is Mary is the New Eve. But where Eve said "No" to God, Mary said "Yes", where Eve brought condemnation on the world, Mary brought (by God's action) Redemption (Jesus) to the world. Eve was made free from sin, so Mary was conceived without sin. The Ark of the Covenant was Holy by virtue of it's contents, so the Ark (Mary) of the New Covenant (Jesus) was Holy.
She was a human utterly consecrated to God for the special role she played.
@politicaltourist Mary as the New Eve is the Mother of All Christians. That's also supported when Jesus said from the cross to John "Behold your mother".
She is Queen of Heaven because she's the mother of the King of Heaven and Earth. Jesus rules from David's throne and in the Davidic dynasty the queen was the King's mother, not one of his wives.
@AmericanBerean God repeatedly warned the Isrealites not to bow to the idol called The Queen of Heaven. Mary is not the Queen of Heaven. The one you call Queen of Heaven is not Mary; it's an idol. The Bible says so in Jeremiah 7:18 and 44:16-22. Is the doctrine of the Catholic Church to be obeyed, instead of the word of the living God?
@73geneva Sure, "Queen of heaven" is a phrase which had pagan usage. But other phrases used by pagans before Jesus include God, Lord, Savior, King of Heaven, Logos, and more. As Mr. Martignoni said, the difference is the pagans' versions were counterfeit, the Christian versions are the REAL ones.
@AmericanBerean Pagans called their gods those names, cos they assume they are lord.... But not only does God hate idolatory, He also says these gods can neither hear, nor walk nor see. Simply, the people were deceived. But the names Christians call Jesus are apt because He is. In fact, He calls Himself Lord. But here Mary is given the title of Queen of Heaven, which God spoke against. 2.Scripture never says Mary is Queen of Heaven, to erase the arguement of idolatory against Catholicism.
@73geneva God forbids calling or worshiping anyone or anything "God" that is not REALLY God. That's the first Commandment. Christ applied terms to Himself which pagans had used in their own false religions, Son of God, Lord, etc. As you mentioned, He did so because He is the REAL thing. In Jeremiah, God spoke against calling "Queen of Heaven" a FALSE queen of heaven. But we refer to the REAL queen of heaven as "Queen of Heaven", so it is apt.
@AmericanBerean Don't waste your time with 73geneva - like all Protestants they believe that their own personal interpretation of Holy Scripture is infallible, yet the last 2000 years of Christian history refutes them: there are over 35,000 different Protestant sects each preaching different "truths". Christ created the Church in Matthew 16:18 and gave it all authority, yet Protestants reject this truth and minimize it. Just continue to pray for them to receive humility.
@drdst17 If nothing else, this kind forum is good for sharpening our own understanding of our respective positions and opposing ideas. The 500 character limit forces us to maximize our information-per-phrase ratio and in this way causes us to understand our beliefs better.
But I don't think your typical non-Catholic or even anti-Catholic a heretic. Largely, they were indoctrinated into that view and hence not fully to blame. The Luthers and Calvins of the world are heretics, however.
@73geneva To quote my previous post, "She is Queen of Heaven because she's the mother of the King of Heaven. Jesus rules from David's throne and in the Davidic dynasty the queen was the King's mother, not one of his wives."
And As Mr Martignoni mentions, Revelation describes a woman in Heaven who is wearing a crown... hmmm, what woman wears a crown... hmm, maybe a Queen?
Scripture can use real things as symbols of other things, so don't try to say the woman can't be literal in Revelation.
@73geneva Again, you misinterpret Scripture, and in doing so are committing a great evil - spreading confusion and error amongst the Faithful.
Considering the Catholic Church WROTE Holy Scripture, yes, it must be believed! Jesus Christ did NOT come down to Earth to give us a Bible, or Scripture to study: He came to reconcile us with God and FOUND A CHURCH - the Holy Catholic Church. Protected from error by the Holy Spirit.
The sin of Pride is strong with you: repent and be saved.
@drdst17 I would have resorted to using the same vulgar words as you but it's ok. If you believe Jesus truly came to reconcile you with God, then why these Calvary-eclipsing prayers to Mary and dead people? Why not pray to Jesus alone? You don't even believe the Bible; because if you do you'll see that living Christians are called saints and not dead people as your church teaches. See it yourself in the Bible. Rom 16:15. Save yourself from ignorance and flee idolatory.
@hymnsinger5 No you have simply misunderstood the sign of the woman giving birth in Rev. 12. The reference to the 12 stars (ie the patriarchs), and the sun and moon (see Josephs dreams concerning the patirarchs) make it clear this woman is a sign for Israel/the Church. See also the way this idea is developed in the chapter with reference to the wilderness motif in v 14 -15. Israel is not infrequently depicted in the Bible as a woman in labour.
@Bornagainsaint--By whose interpretation, YOURS? Jesus gave teaching authority to only ONE Church (Catholic) when he gave t Keys o/t Kingdom to PETER (FirstPope) as described in Matthew. The prot Church claims to love Jesus, yet scorns his Mother who brings Jesus to us. GOD chose her & yet y'all belittle her & think that Jesus will approve. He won't as we will soon find out as we are entering the time of his return.
@yellowlego1 Where have you been when the Protestants here on YouTube have been calling her a devil and declare the privileges and blessings God granted the Mother of His Son a devil’s lie, making her out to be some kind of monster? On the contrary, Mary did and still brings Jesus her Son to us. It is by her “Yes” to the Father that we have a Savior and it is by her continual intercession before God as Mother of the Church that she still unites us to Him today.
@ed2funny4 Read your new testament...... properely, prayerfully, soberely and discern it from the pullpit teachings that you hear at your church. Because what your saying is, that we go to mary to go to Jesus to go to the Father. That my friend is not in the Bible, ANYWHERE!!!
@yellowlego1 Neither is Mary bringing Christ to us in the bible. All it says is that Mary is the most Blessed amongst women. THATS ALL!! Nothing else, she was blessed to mother Jesus and bring Him up.
@yellowlego1 Mary is the Ark of the New Covenant! She is the New Eve, identified as such from Christ Himself calling Her "Woman". Yes the Father sent His Son, but it was Mary's Yes that brought it to completion! The Holy Spirit through Elizabeth showed what kind of respect He wished to be shown His Spouse! "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb" "How is it granted me that the Mother of my Lord should come to me" "Blessed is she who believed."
@yellowlego1 Mary was seen in heaven by John himself, in glory! Rev 12 and yes it's Mary for she gives birth to a male child that will rule with and iron rod= Jesus! Mary is the New Ark, just like the old Ark that was made of would that did not decay, so Mary was raised full of Jesus' glory with out spot and was not touched by the decay of sin or death! She is Queen of heaven, above all creatures! She is Our Queen Mother! "Behold your Mother" given to us by Christ himself.
@yellowlego1 Can you show me in the bible where it says bible alone?! NO! You can't because it's not in there ANYWHERE! But I can show you in Thess, where Paul say to hold fast to the TRADITIONS handed down to us! Bible and Tradition go together and can't be seperated. Only the Catholic Church has the authority to properly interpret Sacred Scipture! Since it is the only Church that is fully guided by the Holy Spirit!
@MilitiaofImmaculata. It says bible alone all throughtout the bible. The traditions Paul wrote about wasnt the ones that came out of the RCC over hundreds of years, bcuz the RCC wasnt even around when Paul wrote his portion of the bible. The RCC has a hard time understanding that their traditions are not part of the bible. Born again saints, & there are many, have the authority to interpret scripture with the help of the Holy Spirit. We are in Christ and Christ in us through the Holy Spirit.
@bornagainsaint1 Wrong again. The Catholic Church was founded by Christ himself to our first Pope, PETER, and He gave him the Keys of heaven 'The Sacraments" and the promise that the gates of Hell will not prevail against it. I like how your trying to divide the Catholic Church. Your information is lacking. When it comes down to interpreting Sacred Scripture the final say is Holy Mother Church the Catholic Church for it is guided under the Holy Spirit plain and simple!
@MilitiaofImmaculata The reason why I am on defense here is because this video is for Mary, the Mother of God who is the Mother of the Church and my Mother too. If you reject Our Lady so much as you say, then please go somewhere else and stop leaving rude comments here against her. I don't want to argue with you but the more you leave those bad comments here, the more it honestly hurts me and I don't think you even realize it. She is my Mom and I will defend her even in word when it matters.
@bornagainsaint1 Christ prayed for unity not division! Those who try to divide are woking for the wrong person! Christs Church is Catholic "Universal" ONE, Unity! Protestants cause division. Look up your history, your church is probably only 50 to 100 years old if that. The Catholic Church is and will always stand strong. Nowhere in the bible does it say "Bible Alone"
@MilitiaofImmaculata. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. I dont carry a denominational name over my head, I am just a born again saint, forgiven by Jesus. I dont pray to Mary, I dont need to go through her first in order for her to give my prayers to Jesus. I used to pray the rosary, but not anymore, I go to Jesus and Him only. I left the RCC many years ago and Jesus has always been there with me every step of the way. I look back on my life and realize that He has always been there.
@bornagainsaint1 You have and are misunderstanding Mary. She doesn't take away from Christ, she unites us, She loved Him perfectly, it is Her office to teach us how to properly love Him. NO ONE on earth or in heaven has loved God as pure and as holy as Mother Mary did! She is an echo of God, We say Mary she says God! Her whole desire is to unite us with God! She is ONE with Jesus and that unity will NEVER be torn apart! Christ commanded Her as Our Mother, "Behold Your Mother"
@MilitiaofImmaculata. You misunderstand Jesus. He loves me deeply, I found out by reading the bible. The Holy Spirit unites us to Him. I love Him perfectly, He forgives me. My unity with Jesus will never end. Mary is not my mother, & I wont go to hell bcuz I said that, I will go to hell if I refuse the Savior. But I believe & trust Him , I'm going to heaven. I dont need to connect with Mary, I have gone to the Savior & He has saved me. Many people have given all to Jesus bcuz the HS led them.
@bornagainsaint1 Misguided soul, why do you deny your Mother? Truly, those who deny Mary as their Mother will not have Christ for His Brother. As Jesus, dying on the cross, told His Mother and the disciple whom He loved to behold each other: Mary beheld John, her son, and John beheld Mary, his Mother. Now Jesus says concerning you: “Mother behold your son.” And Mary has beheld you. But as Jesus tells you “Behold your Mother” you turn your face away.
@ed2funny4. I am not misguided bcuz I deny Mary is my mother. How can you say that Jesus wont be our brother/ Savior when we dont go to Mary? Mary does not control or decide what happens to me when I dont go to her. Jesus will NOT turn me away bcuz I dont go to her or treat her the same way the RCC does. He told John to take care of her, not me. I had a real mother, but now has passed on. I will not go to hell bcuz I dont go to Mary. I will pray that the scales fall from your eyes.
@bornagainsaint1 Mary having co-operated in our redemption with so much glory to God and so much love for us, Our Lord ordained that no one shall obtain salvation except through her intercession. - St. Alphonsus Liguori. The reason why you and all the other Protestants do not know or understand any of the truths of the Church or the priviledges God granted Our Lady is because He has ONLY revealed them to His Holy Catholic Church. If you believe contrary to God's ONE Church then you are mislead.
@ed2funny4. Alphonsus Liguori is wrong and so arent you. No where in the bible does it say that I must go to Mary for salvation. I go to the Holy Spirit to lead me to Jesus for salvation from my Savior.
Mary cannot and will not save me. Jesus suffered, died and resurrected for me. I am not protestant, I do not have a denominational name over my head, I am just a born again saint.
@bornagainsaint1 Just like I told Yellowlego before you: "But where did the bible come from? I mean, last I checked, it didn't just fall out of the sky from Heaven. The Bible was compiled and approved by the Holy Catholic Church in 397 AD despite what the Protestant or heretic churches try to claim. And you must remember "not EVERYTHING is contained within the Bible." In fact, God did not establish salvation through the Bible alone but through His Holy Catholic Church."
@ed2funny4. You dont trust the Word of God, the bible. It is sufficient. The jews wrote this book, not the RCC. The Word of God was preached long before the RCC came along. Everything we need IS contained in the bible. The Almighty obtained salvation through His Son Jesus, and it is written in the bible, but the RCC has questioned this. SAD!! Our salvation is obtained through the blood sacrifice of Jesus.
@bornagainsaint1 You are wrong, the Holy Bible as we know it now (OT and NT) was compiled and approved by the Church! How was the NT preached long before the Church when the Church is traced down to the year 33 AD? The Evanglist and the letters of Paul and Peter and James did not ALL even happen yet and were not all compiled and approved yet either. Salvation is through God's Word FULFILLED ONLY in HIS Church. It is not enough to accept Jesus' sacrifice but to live out His commandments!
@ed2funny4. God's Word is fulfilled in His Son. The 10 commandments do not save anyone, they condemn. That's why His blood sacrifice was accomplished, He doesnt condemn, He saves to the utmost. He commands us to love one anyother, & even that in itself we cannot fulfill, bcuz we can break a commandment at a drop of a dime, but when we confess Jesus He is faithful to forgive & to save. & there is nothing we can do better than what He did on the cross. Through Jesus we are more than conquerors.
@bornagainsaint1 Did not Christ say "If you love me, you will keep my commandments"!!! And last I checked Christ also said "I came not to abolish the law, but to fulfill it! Christ blood is how we are redeemed, but we have a job to do and that's to follow His commandments, He said so Himself, It's not a free ride my friend, all will be accounted for!
@MilitiaofImmaculata. The law He fulfilled was perfection through His blood sacrifice, John 8:23-26. No one can keep the commandments perfectly. When we break a commandment Jesus cleanses us when we ask for forgiiveness. His blood sacrifice forgives to the utmost. People want to rely on their own "good works" to cleanse themselves. We are to keep His commandments, but when we fall, and we will, we must not approach Him with arrogance expecting forgiveness - its with humility & sincerety.
@bornagainsaint1 Everything you need to obtain salvation is IN the Church, whom Jesus "The WORD Incarnate" established. All you you must KNOW OF and DO is taught and enforced in HIS Church whom accept, memorialize, and continually offers Jesus blood-sacrifice on the cross in the Mass. Again, it is not enough to accept Jesus sacrifice but to live His law. - "Not every one that says unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father who is heaven."
@bornagainsaint1 As a certain person said, "Let us take Paul. We both know that Paul wrote most of the Epistles of the New Testament. If you read Acts, Paul as Saul persecuted the Church. So the Church was before the Bible."
@bornagainsaint1 "Be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect" Words from Christ Himself. No we can't do it on our own but that doesn't take away from the fact that we have to try! Christ is plainly calling us to follow His commandments and to try for perfection. This can only be done with Him. "Faith without works is dead" We are called to try again ITS NOT A FREE RIDE!
@MilitiaofImmaculata. Faith can be dead when it is the wrong kind of faith. We need saving faith first which motivates us to do what Jesus wants to do. Even an atheist can do what's right, but bcuz they dont have saving faith they will not go to heaven. We need a saving faith in our Savior first, & our works with prove we have saving faith. But it is not our works that get us to heaven. His blood sacrifice saves us, the unbeliever (atheist) will be harshly judged bcuz their faith is dead.
@bornagainsaint1 Your twisting it to your opinion. It CLEARLY states Faith WITHOUT work IS DEAD. The whole gospel calls us to follow Christ! "Go and sin no more" You are twisting the gospel to make it out as if we don't have to do good and follow Christ. He calls us to it and He himself declared it to be hard. "If they persecute me they will persecute you." If living your christian life is easy than your doing it wrong. Christ calls us to follow his commandments
@MilitiaofImmaculata. The thief on the cross said "Lord remember me when you go into your kingdom" Jesus said you will be with me. This thief had a saving faith in Jesus, and Jesus saved him. Our faith in Jesus saves us. Whether it is the thief on the cross or us, we need saving faith first in the Savior. Our works are a result of our saving faith, they are not the cause of saving faith. The work the thief did is called believing in Jesus.
@bornagainsaint1 That was at his death, if he would have been in a state of normal living Christ would have asked him to follow His commandments if He loved Him, and to sin no more. Of course someone who is truly honestly sorry at death, anything is possible with God. That still doesn't change the fact that we have a duty to follow Christ's commandments. It's not a free ride like you want to make it, to much of the gospel points against that fact!
One small fly in the ointment here. Thieves were not crucified. Crucifixion was reserved for those found guilty of sedition, treason and crimes against the Empire only.
@TheSmithDorian "Thieves were not crucified. Crucifixion was reserved for those found guilty of sedition, treason and crimes against the Empire only." Clearly not, not only were two theives crucifed with Christ, but the christ himself was crucified for reasons other than those you have given here. It is clear that in judaea the romans could crucify non roman citizens at will.
@TheSmithDorian What the thieves were crucified for and why they were remembered as "thieves" ammount to two seperate things. While remembered as thieves, as they stole, the crimes for which they were crucified would not have to have been theft.
That's possible but it's more likely that the two men being crucified with Jesus were not thieves and that this detail was added to the story to make it fit Isaiah's prophecy about the messiah being numbered among the lawless.
Resisting pagan rule of the promised land was not against Mosaic Law but stealing was.
@TheSmithDorian Hey, Sir. While the pre-Judaic peoples and their authority were to be resisted, how Jews were to relate to later conquering peoples was more nuanced. E.g. submission to Nebuchanezer as a ruler was commended when that day came (Jeremiah 27), but bowing down to his gods was not (Daniel 3).
That's true. But there were differences between the Babylonians and the Romans. Nebuchanezer only took some of the Israelites captive and he didn't stay as an occupier. The Romans were a permanent occupying force in Judea - effectively enslaving the nation of Israel in its own promised land.
Dan 3 is consistent with the rest of the Bible. Jer 27 is more of a problem though. It sounds like an after the event insertion to make sense of the disastrous events that had taken place..
@TheSmithDorian In light, however, of how badly the Hebrews had been behaving for quite a few generations, it makes sense. Indeed in the Law of Moses (Deuteronomy 28) captivity and oppression was prophesied as a consequence of turning away from God and disobeying the Laws agreed to. Following the prophetic time line prior to the Roman occupation, it is clear that peopel were still in rebellion, and being warned. Religious life was cleaned up a good deal by the time of Christ.
I would agree that the Hebrews had broken the Mosaic Covenant at this point and that retribution was on its way. But I find it hard to accept the way that God supposedly acted in Jer 27. There were many ways that God could have punished the Hebrews. If it had to be captivity & oppression then why not just abandon them leaving them to the Babylonians. Jer 27 goes way beyond this and glorifies the pagan Nebuchanezer calling him a servant of God. It just seems contrived to me.
@TheSmithDorian Hey, Sir. I can understand what you mean, and how the term "servant of God" can seem bizzare for a decatant, pagan king. However I believe the term "servant of God" essentially means one who is being used by God and is doing God's will, whether he realized it or not. In another way, Jeremiah's message (untimately God's) is that God is using Nebuchadnezzar to chasten the Hebrews, so accept what we have earned and submit to him.
@bornagainsaint1 No again, that is yet another lie. Before the Protestant Reformation in the 1500s and since 33 AD, there was NEVER another, but only "One" Christian Church and that was the Holy Catholic Church and it has been here for twenty centuries and is still God's only Church and IS that same Church which was persecuted terribly (even until today), murdered, and fed to lions under emperor Nero.
@bornagainsaint1 I would also like to inform you that before the institution of the Holy Bible, there were hundreds of lives of true Christians belonging to the ONE Church who did not yet have it. Then how did they obtain salvation? The answer is because they LISTENED TO and OBEYED the teachings and traditions of the Church, the Church that still stands today as the Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church.
@bornagainsaint1 The reason why I am on defense here is because this video is for Mary, the Mother of God who is the Mother of the Church and my Mother too. If you reject Our Lady so much as you say, then please go somewhere else and stop leaving rude comments here against her. @yellowlego1 Excuse me but where did the bible come from? I mean, last I checked, it didn't just fall out of the sky from Heaven. The Bible was compiled and approved by the Holy Catholic Church in 397 AD despite what the Protestant or heretic churches try to claim. And you must remember "not EVERYTHING is contained within the Bible." In fact, God did not establish salvation through the Bible alone but through His Holy Catholic Church.

Then how did they obtain salvation? The answer is because they LISTENED TO and OBEYED the teachings and traditions of the Church, the Church that still stands today as the Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church.
@yellowlego1 And if I may add, that Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church is the very Church of which Our Lord declared, “The Gates of Hell shall not prevail against Her.” And it does not include the man-made protestant churches which much later arrived in the 1500s and who are still going against the Catholic Church and her offspring of whom also the devil will make war with as revealed in the book of Revelation (Ch. 12:17).
@MsCynthia56 Believing Christians are fed up with Roman Catholics justifying their heresies by claiming that St. Peter created the RC Church so every and any imagined "dogma" dreamed up by their clergy is correct and "holy". The fact is that there is no indication that there was even an active Church in Rome until the after 44 AD - a full decade after St. Peter (who is the prime apostole and the rock upon which Jesus built his Church) had organized the church in Jerusalem and Antioch!
WOW ! Lies! REV.12:1-2,5-6,14-17 that speaks of a woman the answer is given in Gen37:9-10
the sun is the father of joseph Jacob the moon is joseph's mother the stars are Jacob's 12 sons together they are the nation of ISRAEL or THE CHURCH as defined in Acts7:37-38. Read the whole BIBLE(KJV) then you won't fall for the lies.
@yellowlego1. I agree. No where in Rev 12 does it say that this woman is Mary. If it was Mary it would have said so. The RCC stretches passages just a little too far to mean what they want it to. To them every mention of a woman and they go off the deep end and say it's about Mary. It is not always about her. I dont pray the rosary, but the RCC acts as though if they dont pray to her, then she wont put them in favor with Jesus and all their prayers to Him will fall through the clouds. SAD!!
I debate with scripture as my source. as u can see from below. There isnt 1 single scripture that puts Mary by name in such high a place as what the catholic church has. Jesus is ALL it is about. Denomination has no affect on our salvation, its our hearts attitude to God and the Son.
I find it funny that prots try to seperate God from Mary! Wow! It is as plain as day in Scripture that God became man THROUGH MARY and in Her alone! You can't no matter how hard you may try with lies and lack of knowledge to seperate Mary and Jesus, it would be easier for you to seperate light from the sun! Jesus and Mary go together!
We do not "worship" Mary! We HONOR Her to the fullest! And in doing so we are imitating Christ Himself! Christ fulfilled the commandement honor thy Father AND Mother to the fullest! Mary leads us to God not away! She loved Christ PERFECTLY! He was Her life, Her heart, Her soul! She is our model to imitate on Loving God! To say that Catholic's worship Mary or that she takes away from God IS A LIE!

There is NO idolatry in Catholicism.
28804ecorrell 1 month ago

Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, repent, obey and be saved!
edadan2009 1 month ago
@edadan2009 "if you choose to worship Mary, you will end up in hell." Then we Catholics have nothing to worry about because we don't worship her. And no matter how many times you say we do, at the end of they we know we don't. And by your own words, you show you do NOT believe Jesus is the only way. If He truly was in your world view, we would be saved because we do believe in Jesus.
DavidVelezPerez 1 month ago
@DavidVelezPerez
Read you Bible and do what it says.
edadan2009 1 month ago
@edadan2009
DavidVelezPerez 1 month ago
@edadan2009 (continued) Were the angels on the ark of the covenant or the Bronze Serpent that Moses made, graven images?
4. "I want you to wake up and realize you are headed for Hell" NO, you are NOT God. You can NOT make that decision
5. "Just believing in Jesus won't save you" Sorry, I thought you were one of those "Once Saved Always Saved" type of Protestants. That's why I used that counter argument. Sorry for assuming.
6. "Read your Bible" I will! Catholic books are great read!
DavidVelezPerez 1 month ago
@DavidVelezPerez
(1 Tim 2:5)
BTW, if the Bible is a Catholic book - then Moses and all the other prophets were also Catholic?
edadan2009 1 month ago
@edadan2009 "BOW DOWN" to statues???? You actually act like we fall flat on the floor before the statue. We kneel down before it, and we've done a slight bow OUT OF RESPECT. Like an actor bows before an audience. He doesn't worship the audience does he? And praying to Mary doesn't interfere with Christ mediatorship. We pray to her so she can pray for us like Christians ask each other to pray for one another. And BTW, the Catholic Church canonized the Bible even if the Jewish people wrote it.
DavidVelezPerez 1 month ago
@DavidVelezPerez
Is he yours too?
edadan2009 1 month ago
@edadan2009 The Bible was based on traditions. The Bible was put together in the year 400. Before that there was just oral tradition. Learn history! Not just the Bible. In fact, if you're so Anti-Catholic. Stay away from the Bible, it's a Catholic Book. And no I don't mean we wrote it all, I mean we canonized it and put it together. In fact, our Bible is based off 73 books. How many does YOUR Bible have? 66? What happened to others? Luther. He took 7 out. YOUR Bible is missing 7 books. OOPS!
DavidVelezPerez 1 month ago
@DavidVelezPerez
(John 8:44)

The Greeks worshiped a pagan "queen of heaven" called Isis. The Catholic Church refers to THESE types of "idols" as false gods. Mary, the MOTHER of God was chosen, hand-picked by God, revered by Jesus and is our true Queen of Heaven. We pray TO Mary on behalf of sinners (us and others) and she comes to our aid as a real earthly Mother would.
mswinditup 2 months ago
@mswinditup
Why then do you disobey God by saying that Mary is your mediator?
edadan2009 1 month ago
@edadan2009 It is amazing how people can see, read and hear the TRUTH but not be swayed by the truth. Mary is highly venerated in the Catholic Church and is Mediatrix for Lord Jesus. The rosary is a POWERful set of prayers. I know Protestants pull out their tag lines from the Bible, it is no secret they trash Catholics. ..but in the end you will know who Mary is and how important she is.

@mswinditup

Besides...I already know the truth young lady...YOU are still searching, but you may be going about it the wrong way.

(Rev 22:16)
Julst2021 3 months ago
This is possible because Christianity has its roots in Judaism, with the Messiah and the apostles all being Jewish and Christians being the children of the promise, who are regarded as Abraham’s offspring:
Julst2021 3 months ago
The twelve stars are the twelve tribes of Israel. See also Gen 49:1-28.
But what about the rest of the woman’s offspring—those who obey God’s commandments and hold to the testimony of Jesus, as mentioned in Rev. 12:17? Who are they? If Israel is the woman clothed with the sun in Rev. 12, then her offspring are saints described as those who obey God’s commandments and hold to the testimony of Jesus.
Julst2021 3 months ago
Then he [Joseph] had another dream, and he told it to his brothers. “Listen,” he said, “I had another dream, and this time the sun and moon and eleven stars were bowing down to me.” When he told his father as well as his brothers, his father rebuked him and said, “What is this dream you had? Will your mother and I and your brothers actually come and bow down to the ground before you?” (Gen 37:9,10)
Julst2021 3 months ago
On the other hand, if we understand the woman to be symbolic of Israel, then we have the nation of Israel fleeing into the desert for 1,260 days to get away from the devil at the end of this age. This would also fit the symbolic interpretation of a crown with twelve stars on her head:
Julst2021 3 months ago
If the Catholic church literally interprets Rev. 12:1-5 as to portray Mary in glorious splendor standing on the moon with twelve stars on her head as though she is Queen, then they should also picture her with two eagle wings as she is also described as having! Maybe this is why the Catholic church only refers to the first part of Rev. chapter 12, but not the latter end (verses 13 and 14) which also describes this symbolic woman.
Julst2021 3 months ago
Clearly, the woman is symbolic for she is given eagle wings to fly out into the desert to be protected from the devil. Question: When did Mary, the mother of Jesus, sprout wings and fly out into the desert for her own protection?
Julst2021 3 months ago
When the dragon saw that he had been hurled to the earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child. The woman was given the two wings of a great eagle, so that she might fly to the place prepared for her in the desert, where she would be taken care of for a time, times and half a time, out of the serpent’s reach (Rev. 12:13,14).
Julst2021 3 months ago
Among those details are the mention of a red dragon (v.3) who is later identified as the devil (v.9). The devil is concerned about the child and wants to kill him immediately after birth. Instead of the devil succeeding, the child is taken up to God and his throne. The devil pursues the woman into the desert after losing his conflict with Michael:
Julst2021 3 months ago
Because of verse rev 12: 5, we know this woman is associated with Jesus, but in what way? Is it a maternal association with Mary or by birth as through ancestry? The only way we will know is by carefully considering the other details found in this same chapter (and elsewhere in Scripture).

MsCynthia56 2 months ago
@MsCynthia56 Please enlighten me as to what truths we don`t understand? The scriptures are perfectly plain! Mary is indeed Blessed but NOWHERE is she given the title of Queen of Heaven. Commandment number 2 (The real one) is quite explicit about graven images and Idols to ANYONE and ANYTHING. NO Church has the authority to change laws and times! The Pope is not entitled to call himself the "Holy Father" that is usurping a title of God.
MrCraigfarrow 2 months ago
@MrCraigfarrow As I have ALREADY explained to you, we do not worship her, we simply give her HONOR as the mother of Jesus. Further, The prot Bible is incomplete, and altered by the reformers and NOWHERE in scripture does it say that scripture ALONE is sufficient. The Church the LORD founded when JESUS gave t keys to PETER )Pope) was given teaching authority that no other Church was given. We are at the end of the age now, & the prot church will not survive
MsCynthia56 2 months ago
@MsCynthia56 Err yes I think rev 17 decribes this church (ooops) but that said, it is also clear that many of Gods people will be found in her! Scripture is our ONLY guide as to the truth of what anyone is teaching, The Vulgate itself gives the TRUE list of commandments! Who changed it? why? and on what authority? Christ himself didn`t see fit to change the law and commandments.
MrCraigfarrow 2 months ago
@MrCraigfarrow
It was the location of an oracle and a necropolis that had been erected and used.
onemarktwoyou 2 months ago
@onemarktwoyou Yes I`ve heard that about the Vatican 2 (no pun intended) but I have been unable to verify it independantly! Any help with that would be very welcome :)
MrCraigfarrow 2 months ago
@MrCraigfarrow

73geneva 6 months ago
@73geneva The Church did not remove any commandments. The 10 commandments are nowhere numbered in the Bible. Two schemes go back to Origen and Augustine (both Catholic, BTW). The one you like is Origen's, the modern Catholic numbering is Augustine's. These lists are summaries, not meant to be completely detailed. The Catholic Catechism expounds on it's list, describing the details you accuse the Church of deleting.
AmericanBerean 6 months ago
@AmericanBerean Come on, in the Catholic Cathecism does not mention where God warned against bowing down to statues; it does not. Every Catholic child that attends cathecism recites these commandments, just as they are taught and never mentions bowing down to statues because it's not there. I guess the words of Augustine and Origen and some other fellow are more credible than what God Himself said.
73geneva 6 months ago
@73geneva Paragraphs 2084-2132 describe the ban on worshiping as God anything/anyone not God. You think bowing is equal to worship/adoration. It's not necessarily worship. Asian cultures bow to show respect and honor to others (even the Christian ones). Just so, if I bow in prayer before a statue of Mary, I am not worshiping her. She is not the source of all grace. When I kneel or bow before the consecrated host, I am indeed worshiping and adoring, because it is God.
AmericanBerean 6 months ago
@AmericanBerean God warns explicitly that we should not bow before any statue in prayer. He is omniscient and clearly states we should not bow to anything, even in heaven. It's only expected that we obey Him to the letter. About Queen Of Heaven, your arguement would have held water if anywhere in scripture God says we should call Mary Queen Of Heaven, inspite of the other QOH. But He never said so anywhere. No one ever called Mary that, thus we are left with only one QOH, which God hated.
73geneva 6 months ago
@73geneva The word "bow" in this context means "worship as God", not merely bowing and praying. As I said, bowing is just proper etiquette in some cultures. Praying is not in itself, worship. To pray means to ask. While some prayer can be worshipful, I don't pray worshipfully to Mary, just petitionally.
The context is important. It's like Matt5:22, don't call someone "fool". He is speaking primarily to the disposition of the heart. In this case, feeling unrighteous anger toward someone.
AmericanBerean 6 months ago
@73geneva Mary as "Queen of Heaven" is implicit in Scripture. As I said before, by the fact that she is the mother of the King of Heaven she is the Queen of Heaven. God tells us to honor our mother and father. Hence, we honor Mary, our spiritual mother. She is so because she is the spouse of the Holy Spirit. Jesus also establishes this for us when he said to the disciple He loved, "Behold, your mother".
AmericanBerean 6 months ago

May Jesus forgive your ignorant errors, friend.
drdst17 6 months ago
@drdst17 If you truly believe in the inherency of the Bible you wouldn't even utter those words. Come on, if God had deemed it fit He'd have included your St. Ignatius as one of the men He inspired to author the Bible. Your claims of St. Ignatius are ludicrous because he was a RC who wanted to validate his belief, thereby mixing it with the true church founded by Jesus. I never said you worship dead saint; don't say something false.
73geneva 6 months ago
@73geneva St. Ignatius of Antioch lived around A.D. 100, and was a student of John the Apostle. I think that makes his opinions of the Church quite valid. Unless John the Apostle wasn't "inspired", according to your logic. St. Ignatius was appointed Bishop of Antioch by St. Peter himself! Direct apostolic succession. The Holy Catholic Church exists because it was one of the reasons Jesus was sent to Earth. The Bible was written by Catholics, for Catholics, and is a Catholic Document.
drdst17 6 months ago
@drdst17 Funny. If your St. Ignatius was truly a student of John as you claim, he would have followed the teachings of his master to the letter. Show me where John spoke about praying to Mary or dead Christians. John lived with Jesus; he wrote 5 books in the Bible, yet he never for once mentioned anything of such. And here you are referring me to your St. Ignatius. Gal 1:8 says even if an angel from heaven preaches another gospel he should be called accursed. You preach another gospel, my friend
73geneva 6 months ago
@73geneva Talking to you is like talking to a brick wall - you make the same error over and over again thinking that your own personal interpretation of the Bible (a Catholic Document) is inspired by the Holy Spirit. The Word is inspired, but YOU my friend are NOT.
You are a heretic who substitutes your own personal beliefs over the Truth that is found in Christ's Church. It is hugely arrogant and only serves to further the division of Christ's family.
May Our Lord Jesus forgive your errors.
drdst17 6 months ago
@drdst17 You have no cogent Biblical doctrine to validate your claims, while I, in turn prooved you wrong with the inherent word of God; the Bible. Scripture never mentioned St. Ignatius, why should I believe what he said, instead of what God has said? You can call me whatever you like, but I never said anything that is not in the Bible. If you truly believe the Bible as the final authority you won't even mention St. Ignatius here. You need Jesus more, to forgive you for idolatory.

How would you like someone to talk bad about your mother?
maddie7111 7 months ago
@maddie7111 Ive read Revelation chapter 12. There is nothing there to indicate that the woman who gave birth to the male child was sinless, underwent predemptive redemption, was conceived immaculately or a perpetual virgin. Is it not time the Catholic Church stop deciding for God what he actually meant and begin to follow his word as can be clearly traced in the scripture? Is there no limit to the arrogance and craftiness of the modern Catholic Church as it makes up even more fantastic theorem?
politicaltourist 6 months ago
A doctrine of the Catholic Church is that of "preventive redemption". If Mary like every mortal needed redemption but at the same time wasn't subject to the original sin this implies that God decided that she should never sin. That took away her freedom to chose to sin or not. If so, she is the first and last mortal who was deprived of freedom of choice. If indeed she did have freedom of choice (thus in need of redemption) but still not subject to sin that implies she was not human...
politicaltourist 8 months ago
@politicaltourist God foresaw Mary's "Yes" to His plan and kept her free from sin. This doesn't mean she had not the freedom to say "No". She just didn't suffer from the disordered desires which we have, being born with the stain of Original Sin. She had MORE freedom than we have, to choose sin or not because she saw it all clearly. We suffer from those disordered desires and so we tend to sin, so we have less freedom in that sense.
AmericanBerean 6 months ago
@AmericanBerean S you saying Mary was a super human or a demi goddess or something or another that the bible has never spoken about. We know of 3 types of beings - divine (the trinity), angelic/satanic (angels and demons) and human (by default sinners). Now this 4th category you speak about (Mary that has free will but unlike other humans is unable to sin because she was conceived immaculately and from the moment of her conception is in touch with God is a new category. Where is the proof?
politicaltourist 6 months ago
@politicaltourist Scripture, implicitly: The root concept is Mary is the New Eve. But where Eve said "No" to God, Mary said "Yes", where Eve brought condemnation on the world, Mary brought (by God's action) Redemption (Jesus) to the world. Eve was made free from sin, so Mary was conceived without sin. The Ark of the Covenant was Holy by virtue of it's contents, so the Ark (Mary) of the New Covenant (Jesus) was Holy.
She was a human utterly consecrated to God for the special role she played.
AmericanBerean 6 months ago
@politicaltourist Mary as the New Eve is the Mother of All Christians. That's also supported when Jesus said from the cross to John "Behold your mother".
She is Queen of Heaven because she's the mother of the King of Heaven and Earth. Jesus rules from David's throne and in the Davidic dynasty the queen was the King's mother, not one of his wives.
AmericanBerean 6 months ago
@AmericanBerean God repeatedly warned the Isrealites not to bow to the idol called The Queen of Heaven. Mary is not the Queen of Heaven. The one you call Queen of Heaven is not Mary; it's an idol. The Bible says so in Jeremiah 7:18 and 44:16-22. Is the doctrine of the Catholic Church to be obeyed, instead of the word of the living God?
73geneva 6 months ago
@73geneva Sure, "Queen of heaven" is a phrase which had pagan usage. But other phrases used by pagans before Jesus include God, Lord, Savior, King of Heaven, Logos, and more. As Mr. Martignoni said, the difference is the pagans' versions were counterfeit, the Christian versions are the REAL ones.
AmericanBerean 6 months ago
@AmericanBerean Pagans called their gods those names, cos they assume they are lord.... But not only does God hate idolatory, He also says these gods can neither hear, nor walk nor see. Simply, the people were deceived. But the names Christians call Jesus are apt because He is. In fact, He calls Himself Lord. But here Mary is given the title of Queen of Heaven, which God spoke against. 2.Scripture never says Mary is Queen of Heaven, to erase the arguement of idolatory against Catholicism.
73geneva 6 months ago
@73geneva God forbids calling or worshiping anyone or anything "God" that is not REALLY God. That's the first Commandment. Christ applied terms to Himself which pagans had used in their own false religions, Son of God, Lord, etc. As you mentioned, He did so because He is the REAL thing. In Jeremiah, God spoke against calling "Queen of Heaven" a FALSE queen of heaven. But we refer to the REAL queen of heaven as "Queen of Heaven", so it is apt.
AmericanBerean 6 months ago
@AmericanBerean Don't waste your time with 73geneva - like all Protestants they believe that their own personal interpretation of Holy Scripture is infallible, yet the last 2000 years of Christian history refutes them: there are over 35,000 different Protestant sects each preaching different "truths". Christ created the Church in Matthew 16:18 and gave it all authority, yet Protestants reject this truth and minimize it. Just continue to pray for them to receive humility.

@yellowlego1 Mary is the Ark of the New Covenant! She is the New Eve, identified as such from Christ Himself calling Her "Woman". Many people have given all to Jesus bcuz the HS led them.
bornagainsaint1 9 months ago
@bornagainsaint1 Misguided soul, why do you deny your Mother? Truly, those who deny Mary as their Mother will not have Christ for His Brother. As Jesus, dying on the cross, told His Mother and the disciple whom He loved to behold each other: Mary beheld John, her son, and John beheld Mary, his Mother. Now Jesus says concerning you: “Mother behold your son.” And Mary has beheld you. But as Jesus tells you “Behold your Mother” you turn your face away.
ed2funny4 9 months ago

If you believe contrary to God's ONE Church then you are mislead.
ed2funny4 9 months ago
I am not protestant, I do not have a denominational name over my head, I am just a born again saint.
bornagainsaint1 9 months ago
@bornagainsaint1 Just like I told Yellowlego before you: "But where did the bible come from? I mean, last I checked, it didn't just fall out of the sky from Heaven. The Bible was compiled and approved by the Holy Catholic Church in 397 AD despite what the Protestant or heretic churches try to claim. And you must remember "not EVERYTHING is contained within the Bible." In fact, God did not establish salvation through the Bible alone but through His Holy Catholic Church."
ed2funny4 9 months ago
SAD!! Our salvation is obtained through the blood sacrifice of Jesus.
bornagainsaint1 9 months ago
@bornagainsaint1 You are wrong, the Holy Bible as we know it now (OT and NT) was compiled and approved by the Church! How was the NT preached long before the Church when the Church is traced down to the year 33 AD? The Evanglist and the letters of Paul and Peter and James did not ALL even happen yet and were not all compiled and approved yet either. Salvation is through God's Word FULFILLED ONLY in HIS Church. It is not enough to accept Jesus' sacrifice but to live out His commandments!
ed2funny4 9 months ago
Through Jesus we are more than conquerors.
bornagainsaint1 9 months ago
@bornagainsaint1 Did not Christ say "If you love me, you will keep my commandments"!!! And last I checked Christ also said "I came not to abolish the law, but to fulfill it! Christ blood is how we are redeemed, but we have a job to do and that's to follow His commandments, He said so Himself, It's not a free ride my friend, all will be accounted for!
MilitiaofImmaculata 9 months ago
@MilitiaofImmaculata. The law He fulfilled was perfection through His blood sacrifice, John 8:23-26. No one can keep the commandments perfectly. When we break a commandment Jesus cleanses us when we ask for forgiiveness. His blood sacrifice forgives to the utmost. People want to rely on their own "good works" to cleanse themselves. We are to keep His commandments, but when we fall, and we will, we must not approach Him with arrogance expecting forgiveness - its with humility & sincerety.
bornagainsaint1 9 months ago
@bornagainsaint1 Everything you need to obtain salvation is IN the Church, whom Jesus "The WORD Incarnate" established. All you you must KNOW OF and DO is taught and enforced in HIS Church whom accept, memorialize, and continually offers Jesus blood-sacrifice on the cross in the Mass. Again, it is not enough to accept Jesus sacrifice but to live His law. - "Not every one that says unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father who is heaven."
ed2funny4 9 months ago
@bornagainsaint1 As a certain person said, "Let us take Paul. We both know that Paul wrote most of the Epistles of the New Testament. If you read Acts, Paul as Saul persecuted the Church. So the Church was before the Bible."
ed2funny4 9 months ago
@ed2funny4. Paul as Saul persecuted the church, but it wasnt the Roman Catholic church. The RCC persecuted millions through the inquisition.
bornagainsaint1 9 months ago
@bornagainsaint1 "Be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect" Words from Christ Himself. No we can't do it on our own but that doesn't take away from the fact that we have to try! Christ is plainly calling us to follow His commandments and to try for perfection. This can only be done with Him. "Faith without works is dead" We are called to try again ITS NOT A FREE RIDE!
MilitiaofImmaculata 9 months ago
@MilitiaofImmaculata. His blood sacrifice saves us, the unbeliever (atheist) will be harshly judged bcuz their faith is dead.
bornagainsaint1 9 months ago
@bornagainsaint1 Your twisting it to your opinion. It CLEARLY states Faith WITHOUT work IS DEAD. The whole gospel calls us to follow Christ! "Go and sin no more" You are twisting the gospel to make it out as if we don't have to do good and follow Christ. He calls us to it and He himself declared it to be hard. "If they persecute me they will persecute you." If living your christian life is easy than your doing it wrong. Christ calls us to follow his commandments
MilitiaofImmaculata 9 months ago
@MilitiaofImmaculata. The work the thief did is called believing in Jesus.
bornagainsaint1 9 months ago

It is clear that in judaea the romans could crucify non roman citizens at will.
novemberwh1skey 8 months ago
@TheSmithDorian What the thieves were crucified for and why they were remembered as "thieves" ammount to two seperate things. While remembered as thieves, as they stole, the crimes for which they were crucified would not have to have been theft.
graceinmay 8 months ago
@graceinmay
That's possible but it's more likely that the two men being crucified with Jesus were not thieves and that this detail was added to the story to make it fit Isaiah's prophecy about the messiah being numbered among the lawless.
Resisting pagan rule of the promised land was not against Mosaic Law but stealing was.
TheSmithDorian 7 months ago
@TheSmithDorian Hey, Sir. While the pre-Judaic peoples and their authority were to be resisted, how Jews were to relate to later conquering peoples was more nuanced. E.g. submission to Nebuchanezer as a ruler was commended when that day came (Jeremiah 27), but bowing down to his gods was not (Daniel 3).
graceinmay 7 months ago
@graceinmay
TheSmithDorian 7 months ago
@TheSmithDorian In light, however, of how badly the Hebrews had been behaving for quite a few generations, it makes sense. Indeed in the Law of Moses (Deuteronomy 28) captivity and oppression was prophesied as a consequence of turning away from God and disobeying the Laws agreed to. Following the prophetic time line prior to the Roman occupation, it is clear that peopel were still in rebellion, and being warned. Religious life was cleaned up a good deal by the time of Christ.
graceinmay 7 months ago
@graceinmay
TheSmithDorian 7 months ago
@TheSmithDorian Hey, Sir. I can understand what you mean, and how the term "servant of God" can seem bizzare for a decatant, pagan king. However I believe the term "servant of God" essentially means one who is being used by God and is doing God's will, whether he realized it or not. In another way, Jeremiah's message (untimately God's) is that God is using Nebuchadnezzar to chasten the Hebrews, so accept what we have earned and submit to him.
graceinmay 7 months ago

I don't want to argue with you but the more you leave those bad comments here, the more it honestly hurts me and I don't think you even realize it. She is my Mom and I will defend her even in word when it matters.

ed2funny4 9 months ago

Read the whole BIBLE(KJV) then you won't fall for the lies.
rbghomes 9 months ago
And just so you know guys. Revelation 12 is talking about Israel and her birth pains are the paitent waiting for the arrival of Jesus.
yellowlego1 9 months ago
@yellowlego1. I agree. No where in Rev 12 does it say that this woman is Mary. If it was Mary it would have said so. The RCC stretches passages just a little too far to mean what they want it to. To them every mention of a woman and they go off the deep end and say it's about Mary. It is not always about her. I dont pray the rosary, but the RCC acts as though if they dont pray to her, then she wont put them in favor with Jesus and all their prayers to Him will fall through the clouds. SAD!!
bornagainsaint1 9 months ago
I debate with scripture as my source. as u can see from below. There isnt 1 single scripture that puts Mary by name in such high a place as what the catholic church has. Jesus is ALL it is about. Denomination has no affect on our salvation, its our hearts attitude to God and the Son.
yellowlego1 9 months ago
I find it funny that prots try to seperate God from Mary! Wow! It is as plain as day in Scripture that God became man THROUGH MARY and in Her alone! You can't no matter how hard you may try with lies and lack of knowledge to seperate Mary and Jesus, it would be easier for you to seperate light from the sun! Jesus and Mary go together!
MilitiaofImmaculata 9 months ago
We do not "worship" Mary! We HONOR Her to the fullest! And in doing so we are imitating Christ Himself! Christ fulfilled the commandement honor thy Father AND Mother to the fullest! Mary leads us to God not away! She loved Christ PERFECTLY! He was Her life, Her heart, Her soul! She is our model to imitate on Loving God! To say that Catholic's worship Mary or that she takes away from God IS A LIE!
