the problem is the guide lines, I eat lots of grain( weetabix, suppose to be good 4 u)
and my blood sugar increases to 9. Damn it I cant find the real diet. I am now going raw but damn apple increases my blood sugar. God knows who is right and who is wrong . Meanwhile we eat the wrong foods. lol
I discovered that the "pre-diabetes" diagnosis is a bunch of BS. Either you are a diabetic, or you are not. There is no such thing as a middle-line for something as serious as diabetes. When you hear a doctor use that term, then this is your clue to get a blood glucose monitor and start building a daily log of your sugar levels 6 times per day. Don't wait on doctors. Don't wait on insurance either. Start taking control of your health immediately. Learn everything you can about diabetes.
majority of fruits are high in sugar so if consumed in excess can increase blood levels. Sugary fruits don't necessarily have to be completely avoided as long as one keeps to his/her carbs needs at every meal with the help of a dietitian, such as my self!
I am a sugar addict who needs to get off of it. I am not obese and I exercise. But I am not where I should be in my fitness because of my intake of ice cream, donuts and sugar. I need to get this under control. Any suggestions?
I'm 16, male and live in the UK. Just today I discovered that I have an endless thirt and I pee a lot because of that. I do exercise a lot and haven't found any other symtom of diabetes yet. What do you think? Am I safe, do I have pre-diabetes, or do I have it already?
There's a lot more about sugar you need to know. It is slowly killing you. One portion shuts down your immune system for 5 hours...there's 18 sugars in a can of coke! See my video.
It always sets me back just a bit whenever anybody implies, "you did this to yourself". It feels to much like, "you're getting what you deserve". Most people, I think, are unwitting recipients.
For me it's genetic. I did not get it from stuffing my face with sweets and barely touched them.
I ate what was supposed to be a healthy diet. Now I find out that what's supposed to be good, has turned toxic for "me". It feels like I've dropped off into the Twilight Zone of eating.
I agree with you on this. The speaker in the video is using a shame and blame approach. There is a huge revenue potential for the treatment and maintenance of diabetes. We need healing. Healing does not occur by frightening and punishing the afflicted. Stress and turmoil are what has brought ill health into lives to begin with . We don't need more of what is killing us. Natural foods organically grown are what we all need more access to. Not necessarily vegan or raw either.
Also, you don't have to eat only melons for days. Eat varied, so some GI peaks here and might not be as bad as typical western diet: pasta, white bread, rice, cornflakes, candies, soft drink each day, in other words flooding the body with high GI carbs.
I think you can eat some foods with higher glycemic index: foods of lower density of high GI carbs.
If I remember correctly, some sorts of fruit have a high GI, like melon. But a melon doesn't have nearly as much calories per ounce as, say, pasta. So it won't raise blood sugar so much if you eat a piece of melon as it would after eating an equally sized portion of pasta.
Oh I know. It took me a few months before I was able to give up soft drinks all together. Highly addictive, but now I have not drank a soft drink in a year and half and I'm caffeine free. Since doing so, I am no longer tired all the time, I no longer have acid reflux problems and I also handled some colon problems as well. For me, it was worth this pain.
If you exercise and you aren't overweight, you will have less risk of course. See the video in my channel "Soft drink challenge - Nutrition by Natalie" though.
This is all very relevant for those who have been diagnosed with Type2 diabetes, and those who are at risk from developing Type2 diabetes - overweight, limited exercise. A healthy body can tolerate sugars with a high GI.
Effect of Eucaloric High- and Low-Sucrose Diets With Identical Macronutrient Profile on Insulin Resistance and Vascular Risk
A Randomized Controlled Trial
. American Diabetes Association; R. Neil et al (2006) 55:3566-3572.
That was small clinical trial with only 13 "healthy subjects" over a short period of time. Diabetes and obesity are literally epidemic in the US. With 3/4 of the population overweight, that wouldn't qualify as healthy. Certainly anyone with type 2 diabetes use to tolerate sugar w/ a high GI at one point but then eventually developed diabetes and they no longer do so. Of course a healthy person can tolerate a high GI diet.
Awsome advice. Eat whole food and foods that are considered less than 55 glycemic index. What type of foods are less than 55 glycemic index? Is there a list i can get somewhere. Thanks

Ten packs of sugar in the coffee=type 2 D.
It is difficult to reason with a persons
pleasure center. There is the question
of moods. People do pot and sugar because
without it they'd be doing something
much worse. I have tried to get off the
caffeine(w/o sugar)alcohol routine. One
goes with the other. It's difficult.
Wonder why Mormons look better than average?
They don't do c/a.

I've always wondered why Mormons looks so good + healthy. Is that really the reason why?
goldmarker 4 years ago
Yes, the observant Mormons do things under
their own steam. They don't need caffeine
to get up in the morning and they don't
need alcohol to relax. They don't drink
soft drinks. (Some probably make up for
it with 10 packs of sugar in the lemon-aid.)
Hormones don't spike and don't flatten.

Sugar is bad, is the messege. But what about natural sugar such as apples, honey, carrots?
Are these hard on the body?

You mean ten sugars in my coffee over 10-20
years is something that I do? I just avoided
a girl who did that. She was all over the place. She had reason to use 10 sugars...she had stress.

Yes, it isn't that clear that healthy people can tolerate sugar in the vid - and granted the 75% overweight figure it's good advice.

Just search google for glycemic index and you will list of foods and what their GI is.
