@ecceservices you just have to connect the data and power cable to your source and destination drives, change your first boot priority to your optical drive in your BIOS,load your acronis true image CD.its pretty much simple
If you partition the hard drive can you use this to copy a single partition to a new hard drive. Like if i made an OS partition on a hard drive could I copy just that part to and SSD in the future?

I work for a school and clone drives all the time using Acronis as well. Where did you buy or how did you build the rig you have the DVD player, keyboard, mouse, and the drives connected to. Currently I plug and unplug the drives out of an open PC and it is a bit clunky. Your help would be appreciated.
Is Arconis True Image a free program? I want to clone my drive just like this because I just got an SSD, but do not want to pay for a program since I only plan on doing this once.
@massivemuscles85 there is a trial. its at the bottom of the page. im in the same boat changing to a 256 ssd from a 500gb ill let you know if the trial works. if it does i might buy it because ive used every other cloning software on the market at some point but they always f up.
There was a split sec at the end were it seems his friendly nature was just an act and he’s really a jack ass lol. He’s like is it still rec. ... good I hate these fools questioning my work and stuff I’ll Eat Your Babies Garr.
@EdgarRodrigue I'm not sure if that'll work, since the operating system takes up space and would also have to fit inside the USB flash drive. If everything fits, though, then theoretically it should work, since external hard drives and USB flash drives do the same thing, just that the external hard drive is capable of storing more data on average.
Does cloning hard drive means like, you have a hdd and you want to have the same files in the new hdd you bought. So you clone it so the files in your old hdd will be in your new hdd you bought. I know it is very messed up. If you don't understand then nevermind. But those who understand can you tell me if it is so?
@xMExHKSx Yes that's what cloning is. The difference with backing-up and cloning is that cloning also retains the operating system (such as Windows XP) and of course other applications.
@tzillian7 Correct. Using the Acronis True Image Home program, you'll be able to clone everything from your previous HDD to a new drive, such as an SSD. The trial version does not come with the cloning utility, so you should acquire the full version through a torrent (or purchase it, up to you). True Image is compatible with Vista and Windows 7, while other such cloning programs are not, so I highly recommend it.
@MrEvga No, cloning is exclusive to the full version. I would recommend getting the full version through a torrent. If you don't like to work with torrents, then you can message me and I'll give you the activation key since that's all that comes additionally with the torrent.
Hey, I have a quick question for you about acronis true image home 2010, I'm currently using a Toshiba laptop, and will be picking up a HP laptop monday, can I restore my toshiba backup to the hp or will there be a problem due to different manufacturers? if so is there a way for me to move my software programs over without having to repurchase them? thanks
@berkvens852 There should be no problem due to manufacturer difference. If you want to retain all your files, including the operating system, then use the Acronis True Image cloning utility such as that in the video.
Nice! This actually saved my time because I just bought a 1T WD black and was deciding whether to reinstall windows and my thousand applications and configs or find a way cloning. Linus is such a life saver lol
Would this also be the thing to do if you have 2 hdd's in RAID1 and one of them fails? So you clone the good hdd to another one and restore the RAID1? Or what would you have to do in that case?
@Diplo1337 quick question if im cloning a western digital drive image onto another drive would the western digital software that comes on the wd drive would u be able to clone that as well

@frozenskipper Because If you were using a OEM copy and you change the motherboard at the same time your License # is then Unusable.

@Pendemic laptops are a little trickier... you have to buy an external SATA to USB hard drive enclosure and connect it to your laptop that way

Thanks but in the end I just saved the image of the disk to an external drive and then transferred it over the new drive after.

One thing to watch out for is the amount of time this takes. I cloned an ATA drive
to a SATA drive - about 125 GB - and it took about 12 hours. There must be a faster
way. years ago I used so Maxtor software that was much faster.
