Hmmm... I don't know anymore. That kind of responsibility and risk, not being able to make mistakes, and memorizing thousands of cures is tough business. I can't even keep up in my 101 class with that maniacal professor of mine. I think I'll just go towards being an NP.
You should eventually overcome that fear. Medicine is a passion, if you really into helping people and caring then you are in the right track. Yes it is a comittment: you will sacrifice long hours of your life, vacations, events...etc However you will have self satisfaction.
In my vision medicine is like no other profession, in the amount of satisfaction you feel when you recognize that you really helped others, or helped in saving people lives.Good luck.
Are you a practicing physician? I have come to realize that being a physician is truly about helping others, which is the most rewarding thing anyone can do. I study hard because I know I am doing it for the opportunity to give to so many people.
As a premed student I want to be a Family/General practitioner or Pediatricians, but I am afraid of blood and operations. Can I be able to overcome this fear when I start training in the hospital?
The cons seem very daunting compared to the pros. Just entering university, and am considering this since I am working towards a biology major. The salary is glorious, but the high amounts of stress seems inevitable.
I wouldn't care if a patient died, and that is why I wouldn't want to become a physician. I wouldn't care enough to do anything. =(

Lots of hypocrites here. If you LIKE HELPING PEOPLE, go to the old folks home or go become an early childhood educator.
