There was another video of this song live with the same sax player and a killer solo. Same arrangement, during the day outside somewhere. I think Youtube pulled it down. Anyone know what video I'm talking about or where I can find it? I was in the middle of transcribing that solo!
@Lukeydav I cant post links, apparently, but there's one on daily motion . com. The video quality stinks but the sound quality is there. I'll PM it to you. Everyone else should check it out!
@joesetef Tom Johnston, Pat Simmons, John McFee, Skylark is sick so he isnt there right now but he will be back so John Cowan is in for him on bass, Guy Allison on keyboard, Tony Pia and Ed Toth on drums
as the world turns! i've seen them in concert four times in each of the five decades. MAN, it don't get no better. great addition with the sax!!!!!!!!! rock on.
@Tbarnz9 well, its old TOP-ppls that are playin in the hornsection! atleast Marc Russo & Mic Gilette so I think they have the right to homage another great band and tune ;)
We've seen the Doobies LIVE in Australia twice now. They are so bloody consistent, always looking as though they are playing their first big concert, when in fact they've been doing this for 30years plus. Cannot wait until March when they tour here again. One of the greatest Rock bands of all time.
This is so f--k'n good that the military should drop 10 million copies of this song on the middle east so that the rag heads can hear what rock-n-roll is all about! Long live the Doobies!
Horn section quotes the horn riff from the Tower of Power classic, "Soul Vaccination" in this arrangement. Also, Mic Gillette on Trombone and Trumpet is an original Tower member. Marc Russo played sax for Tower of Power in the early 80's. This is a hot DVD.
@reeblite dude the hall of fame is such a joke. The judges go off of what they like not what everyone else digs. I mean its cool they're don't just put a band in cause they're mainstream but it also means they over look great bands like the Doobie Brothers. Fuck sake the judges aren't even musicians.
Excellent!!

The fact that they're not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame proves that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is meaningless.

The alto sax sounds good in this one. I like the sound of older saxophones. The tone is a lot more mellow.

@75tm400 I'm a sax player and I love Marc Russo's sound, but I would call that sound anything but mellow.

@bamsax2007 That's only in your opinion, everyone is entitled to one. I've been playing for 39 years & I call it a mellow sound.

love the doobie brothers, but not cool that they took the opening horn line from tower of power's "soul vaccination"
