Love the fact that Ford gets to put his real world carpentry skills to use in this movie. Like when he spots the True Grail in Indiana Jones 3, and declares, "That's the cup of a carpenter!", you know he speaks with total authority.
Ford never won the Oscar (well, not yet anyway) but he was nominated for it in this movie. Yay Ford!
Wonderful music. Makes me forget it's a barn and I start imagining a cathedral, and I'm not even religious. It's not only about the glory to God, but the glory of good decent people.
Eh not to everyone, I think he's just maybe a little jaded. He could do some great stuff if he finds a good dramatic role or something instead of doing the "My wife/family is held hostage" bit over and over again. Always entertaining but he gets into a rut with it sometimes. :P
@AnotherSchmoe Perhaps you're right. But I still think that with all the money he's made over the years, and with a wife 22 years younger than himself, he just doesn't care about movies anymore.
I cannot possibly express what this music means to me, how does one get the heart to actually speak, its not going to be easy. I feel touched to my very being to my soul. It conjures up all that good mankind should be, instead of all the woe we have in this sad world. The mounting melody makes my hair stand up, i cant say whats in my mind at hearing this! Words wont do it! I've been an avid follower of Jarre's music for many years how does he do it? Every time I hear this i just cry with joy!
if any of you get a chance to see this movie....I'd recommend you do just that... it's on my "top 5" movie favorites list of all time.... and i've been going to the movies for 60 years now..
The Amish also have large communities across Ohio, some smaller communities in Indiana and central Illinois, and have begun moving to Colorado due to the availability of affordable farmland.
Yes, the Amish and other groups like them do exist and, in many areas, they are popular tourist "attractions.". However, outsiders may not spend a year or season among the Amish; you must be born into the faith and culture.
yeah, having gone to college in Bloomington Indiana, if you take any route except the most direct interstate route to the school, you are almost certainly going to see some Amish. And Southern Indiana isn't even the largest Amish community. They're still out there and keeping up their traditions.
I was able to go to a barn raising last year. It was really cool because I felt like Harrison Ford in Witness. But unfortunately, I didn't get to stay with a hot Amish widow.
shes not even hot wtf

a truly beautiful scene. The idea of people working for their community is a wonderful thing. selfishness is the curse of modern living

I get a weird thrill seeing this bit of the film, just because Harrison was actually a carpenter before he went into films.

Harrison Ford wasn't as wooden an actor in this film as he is these days. I guess age does that to you.

Do really exist people like Amish? Do they are popular for the tourists?
I suppose it would be wonderfoul to spend a year or a season amoung them.

Yes they exist, in many places. They are extremely popular for tourists. But I don't know why, they have always seemed kind of boring to me.
