Hey, does having an overbite effect the sound at all? Whenever I try to do this sound it sounds like I'm just breathing in or choking. Also, when I look at my self in the mirror while doing the sound, my jaw/mouth goes upward instead of going downward in which I see most beatboxers jaws go when they do that sound.

@ilikecomedians It's confusing, but then as you learn it gets easier :) the tip of your tongue generally stays against the top of your mouth, the side comes away from your teeth and that's what causes the sounds.

you say to snap your tongue away from the side of your mouth, does that mean my tongue is attached to the inside of my cheeks at the start?

@2snobal i think ive finally got it down :) FOR me , the trick was to put the upper surface of my tongue to the roof of my mouth. ( not roll my tongue and suck in) :P

Hey Tony... Been beatboxin for 5 or so days now and wondering whether or not Im rushing a bit by reaching here already... I'm struggling with the beats you give but am doing my own (not as fast as some, but I find them more controlled). I don't know wether it is easier to do each video by week and do the beats you do or do what Im doing and rushing through learning all the sounds then doing the beats?

And secondly, my GF says you need to grow your hair again to like this :D

hey tony, i have mastered the inward k snare quite some time ago, but have recently found out that people direct the air to the left or right side of thier mouth, were as my k snare air, just goes straight down the middle of my tounge, ignoring the sides of my mouth. so i guess my question is, am i limiting myself by doing it this way, or is this just another way of doing it since my k snare sounds like kennys already. thanks man

@Reality2Dreams instead of keeping your mouth open at the END of the k snare, which draws in extra air, you cut that extra air out by closing your mouth as soon as you do it. its hard to describe in words but luckly for you, a person has already done a tut on it. erm, i'll send a link.

I finally got it down pat. Once you touch your tongue to the roof of your mouth and pull your mouth to one side, you breath in. But at the same time you breath in, you "kick" the tip of your tongue to make the k sound.

I can't get my head around this sound... It never seems to have the same "KSh" as the out k. When I try the inward, it just sound whooshy. The "k" never has an emphasis... sorta just gets washed out by the "Sh" of breathing in. Do you have any tips for working with this problem?

@ZajiTheHawk Sounds like you aren't snapping your tongue away from the side of your mouth properly. Before you make the K sound you should not be able to breathe in because of your tongue blocking the airflow - build up a little pressure and see if that helps with the sound :)

i've been learning to beatbox for some months now and had no problems with that sound until recently i decided to watch some tutorials on it again - and what do i find out? that when u inhale it should be only on the left/right side, and im used to letting the air going both sides of my tongue. Is that wrong? Does the sound change?

When both sides are used it's often called a handclap, but it's pretty much the same thing :) do whatever works for you!

See, I've first taught myself another vocal of which I don't know the name. It's similar to the inward k snare, yet it's a clicking sound made by placing your tongue at the side of your mouth, against your teeth, making a clicking sound and inhaling air while your tongue clicks away from the side of your teeth. I thus find myself having a hard time learning both outward as inward k. Have any pointers for that?

Sounds like the pressure you're using is only to bring your tongue from the top of your mouth. The pressure needs to be from your lungs inhaling.

the snare you are using here is a variation of the standard inward K snare

it sounds like its roxorloop's inward snare, which involves the use of the rimshot snare.

hi there m8 i mite be able to help you, try starting with your tounge at rooth of your mouth then inhale air, might sound wierd at first then what you have to do is when breathing in force your tounge down and add a lil k and you will get an inward kch snare, take your time tho nd practice, this sound took me a while to get but when you get it, it will help your beats nd u can play round with it, hope that helps.
