  • I always thought this was a weird sketch...ghost fog having convulsions.

  • 00:50 I used to watch that when I was little and I would be running away from the TV, since I thought it was coming after that XD great song though

  • Sesame Street, always keepin it relevant :D

  • woah .... this is some freaky shit

  • And it can be stated for the record that the Disco Duck came and snapped up the Disco Frog with its beak

  • This scared the hell outa me as a kid!!

  • This is soooo good.

A few years ago I got in an argument with some people at a big Muppet fan website and they kicked me of it cuz I said they gotta run this old stuff and they said it can't be, as everything has to be perfect with the new material. This is the best and folks are missing it. Thanks for posting for at least we get it. Yeahh

  • im 32 years old i remember this shit and im still scared!! LMAO!!

  • Ohhhhhhh my.........Ribbit Ribbit.........I didn't know the name of it....Disco Frog.....that's why I never knew what to look for.....

  • OOOOOOOOOOOOH MY GOODNESS........

I HAVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR THIS FOR YEARSSSSSSSSSSS...........WOWOWOWOWOW

Classic....All I remember is the dancing cartoon of Kermit.....he break-away...

  • What year was Disco Frog skit from?

  • Here's a clue

    When was Disco still popular?

  • It was from 1979 when disco was at the height of it's popularity. But I first saw the DISCO FROG skit in 1982 not long after the disco craze died out in; America at least.

  • This is definitely not what first comes to mind when most people think about sesame street.

  • It must have been a blast making Sesame Street back in the 70's!

  • But that blast is long gone.

  • mariechaton same here i love has the muppetts dance but when the disco from came arpund the corner it would creep me out!! LMAO!! the sad part......it still dores and im 32 lol

  • 0:50 always scared the crap outta me

  • roflmao

  • me too. it actually gave me nightmares as a very young kid for some reason

  • This should've been on the Muppet Show, not Sesame Street.

  • They did have this on the Muppet Show...it was the season 4 episode with Christopher Reeve and Kermit was in a white disco suit :)

  • it was on sesame street first

  • nahhh its better on sesame street

  • It was... but without the "ghost frog"!

  • I agree. Because this skit as good as it was didn't really teach kids anything.

  • kermit had the best songs.

  • This is back when parents could watch Sesame Street with their kids and also be entertained.

  • @loumichaels Jim Henson was the BEST Puppet Master.

  • people who were scared by this were unconsciously reminded of the way the grey aliens move lol. Seriously alot of people were scared by this one me included. This was the only one that freaked me out but some people really hated the one where Ernie and Bert are in the pyramid.

  • or the yip_yip aliens

  • they seriously need to bring that the old skool seseame street.

  • I remember having nightmares of the dancing kermit. It's like a ghost having a seizure.

  • ...some psyche ya got there....

  • Yes, I agree with you-it might be a ghost with a seizure! LOL!

  • LOL!

  • I never saw this one.

  • Me neither. And I just saw the muppet show version before this one. I think they're both ♫ ribbit <3 RIBBIT ♪

Jim Henson had a way with music.

  • Well, Joe Raposo DID also write the "Three's Company" theme.

  • One of the best classic Kermit skits! This is pure class!

For your very own custom classic Muppet character click on VautOfPuppets and look for our website link!

  • i remember this clip from when i was a kid! im 33 yrs old and i still love it

  • I am 32, and remember seeing this when i was like 5 or 6, and it caused me to have a bad nightmare of Kermit the frog, chasing me around my house at night and in the dark, while i was all alone. He was moving around all freaky too, like that dance he was doing, and his eyes looked possessed. I worried for the longest time that i was going to have that dream again.

  • Watch him dance on that log

    SHEESH it's the disco frog.

    Ribbit Ribbit!

  • i love this song :D

  • I thought the day would never come. Kermit the Frog on "The View." It's a joke. You'll get it.

  • hes a maniac maniac

  • LOVE YOU KERM!.. can he do no wrong

    1 of a kind x

  • I cant believe I wasnt the only one scared of this shit....

  • This scared the shit out of me too! Still does!

  • Folks, you have to remember...The Muppet Show was made more for adults than for children. Sesame Street was for the kids.

  • LOL even though this disco frog looks like an ghost an in the muppet show it was kermit!! LOL

  • Awesome! I loved this when I was 5 but it sort of freaked me out when the ghostly neon dancing Kermit appears. I remember talking about this skit with one of my classmates at school and she said she would turn all the lights off when this came off so it would be more creepy and cool.

  • I always loved Kermit's disco-dancing alter ego in this clip.

  • i know when i first saw the ghost frog i got scared

  • Hey, does anyone have a better copy of this? Would love to see it...

  • I love this

I watched kermet and sesame street for years. Love You Kermit

  • As stupid as it is, whenever that ghostly frog appeared that scared the crap out of me. I have no idea why.

  • Wow Im 31 and I never forgot how this scared the hell out me as a kid.

  • I don't know which is scarier, the Special FX or DiscoO_O

  • Yes years of nightmares lol. Thanks frog and your ghost buddy.

  • wow, I used to think I was the only one who got freaked out by this as a kid, but after reading all your comments, it's good to know I'm not nuts after all lol. I used to think that ghost frog/animated Kermit would jump out and run at me like in the video lol

  • At the end when disco Frog leaves, he was heading to my house O_O

  • thats the best

its nothing to be scared of

:] when i die i wana do this

  • My life as I know it will never be the same again, after watching this video. Shake it, don't break it, Dancing Ghost Frog! Kermit's got some MOVES, y'all!

And we used to wonder where the breakdancing movement started....

  • whoever put this on here thank you! hahahaha

  • i love the dancing ghost frog

  • i was never scared of this, everyone seems to think this was scary, but i loved this song :D

  • I'm glad I'm not the only kid this scared the hell out if. I forgot it was Disco frog, I remembered is as ghost frog!!

  • Holy cow. That was scary.

  • omg thats sooo cute

  • OMG...I freaking remember this!! This song is the shit!! Play this at a club today, and I'll go nuts. No joke.

  • It does look kinda scary the way the frog jumps out of the bushes. What year was this?

  • this use to freak me out when i was 5...still kind of freaky

  • This used to freak me out so much. When the ghost frog is running to and from the main area.

  • LOL....no kidding! I had a nightmare a few days after i saw this when i was like 5 or 6 years old. I had a dream that damn disco frog was in my house, doing his little voo doo dance at me, coming to kill me! Jim Henson is nuts!

  • Ha! It used to scare me a little bit too.

  • This is an awesome song, does anyone have a better quality sound version??

  • Kermit both on sesame street and the muppets.

  • If you want to read a great book with a lot of disco nostalgia in it, check out the book Disco Hypnotic.

  • I dunno about you but this was AWESOME! Both then and now. In fact I downloaded this song on MP3 not long ago.

  • This skit used to always freak me out when I was a kid. The weird ghost-like frog... Now that I think about it, it still does.

  • I thought I was the only one!

  • Aw that was so coool!

  • this is so awesome.

  • hehe.. i wasn't as scare of this one as i was with grover the waiter bringing out the giant hamburger. my mom made me leave the room when that skit came on because i would scream and cry. I was SOOO fascinated by the kermit jumping out of the bushes when i was little. I especially loves when he dances away at the end and goes into the bush. I always wanted to go there and dance in the swamp with them!

Isn't the set awesome?! They don't make kids shows like this anymore.

  • @machinegunangel Hey don't worry about crying over something on SS. I cried when Cookie Monster started eating the Ford F-150 he got as a wish in the Monster's Three Wishes, I think because it looked like a truck my dad had.

  • now this is sesame st. at its finest!! They can never duplicate anything this great now on the show..It has never been the same since Jim Henson passed

  • kermit was on muppets, not seasame.

  • He appeared in both shows.

  • he was in sesame street as well but this video is from the muppets

  • I'm twenty-five, and I grew up on sesame street; made a genius out of me. Thank you.

  • man do I miss Jim Henson sometimes...

  • i know what you mean. the guy who does kermit's voice now makes him sound like he's going through puberty.

  • does anyone have this thats better quality and less grainy?

  • Ah...the good ol' days whern Sesame Street would occasionally throw a song in there just for fun! No lessons to be learned, just a great time!

    I miss those days!

  • i like the remake.. but thi is good 2

  • LMAO aaahhh memories.

  • AAAA! Oh, thanks so much for bringing this nightmare back to life! I would turn the TV off when this video came on as a kid, because I knew that scary ghost frog was going to run out at me!

  • really i thought it was awsome

  • This used to scare the hell out of me!

  • THIS used to make me nauseous

  • This scared me with the Kermit the Frog graphics.

  • I agree with you.

  • I don't think it's scary... but then again I shouldn't talk -- I used to be terrified of ET.

  • everyone is calling "the frog" the frog. he's Kermit :D lol. i so wish i had the disco CD

  • Let's hope they take better care of the masters than do the original cels by CTW animators. I used to study at Sesame Workshop with a friend who worked for Noggin, and was really hurt to see torn, dusty cels in broken frames lying in office corners. That was something I will never forget. They don't respect the old stuff. I love the Children's Television Workshop; but I am saddened by Sesame Workshop. :(

  • OH MAN! I totally have the Sesame Street Disco Record. It had Grover all Saturday Night Fevered on the front. I need to get that from my parents asap.

  • @jesseanne1980 Actually that was Sesame Street Fever, which was a parody of the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack album (with Bert, Ernie, and Cookie Monster posed like the Bee Gees)

  • Wow, that is one scary frog!

I remember this from the tape "Sesame Street Disco". I was about six years old then. There I would sit, cans plugged into the top-loader cassette deck, boogying along.....ah, memories.

  • LOL get down with the frog! I so remember them showing this when I was a kid!

  • Oh man! Yeah, I wish I could see it and hear a little better. I love Disco Frog.

  • I wish this was higher quality audio...This was one of my favorites...there will never be another Jim Henson.Steve Whitmire doesn't do Kermit justice..he makes Kermit sound like he's been neutered or hasn't hit puberty yet.

  • Disco Frog makes me think of CHiPS and Threes Company for some reason.

  • I miss Jim Henson....

  • I Would sometimes think "Fwoggy want to kill me" as a like 5 year old... come to think of it, I would sometimes had bad dreams with him in it...

  • i love Disco Frog! :D

  • Gave me nightmares for years. The last one was a few months ago.

I love muppets, but that was so creepy.

  • groovy babyyyyy!!!! wooo hoooo! i could dance to this all day

  • If Kermit the Frog had a real album collection, this song would probably be off of his worst album.

  • Umm...this song was release on the Sesame Disco album. Not the worst album ever...

  • I was always sad when the frog danced away at the end.

  • So awesome everything of Sesame street or Muppet show is so cool XD

And yes even on my age I like it XDXD

    Muhahahaha tralalala

  • Disco LIVES! I remember I LOVED this, although it was a bit freaky. I wanted to dance with the disco frog when he left for the woods and boogie on down. He made me sad when he left! hehe

  • I like The Muppet Show version the best. Which one came first?

    _Eric

  • Oh My God! I Remember this from when I was a kid I love it!

  • thats creepy... is that supposed to be a ghost?

  • my favorite i love it

  • The Disco Frawwg lol...wasn't disco already pretty much dead by the time this came out? I don't remember it being on Sesame Street in the 70's

  • I so remember this. Wow, walk down memory lane!

  • that one was totally cute. "eesh, it's the disco frog." I usually get scared over frogs, but Kermit is the only one I loved now and always. thank you for that clip, Bip. :)

  • OH MY F--K GOD! I have WANTED to see this one for YEARS! This was AWESOME! FIVE STARS!

  • this was one of the skits that scared the CRAP right outta me...

  • You and me both buddy.

  • I think this, combined with when Kermit got teeth, and when his skeleton was shown, created my series of nightmares about Kermit the Frog when I was little.

  • Well that's disturbing! LOL There there, it's not so bad now is it? This is actually pretty cool. :)

  • Holy crap,I just got flashed back about 25 years. That's awesome, I completely remembered the tune and everything. How freaky!

  • Wow, I had no clue they had stuff like that on SS--and judging by the source tape that probably hasn't been aired in a good while! Nonetheless, thank you Bip Bippadotta and other uploaders for preserving our collective Muppet/SS history.

  • i loved this song

  • I might be crazy, but I think the instrumental part of this song may have been what Mark and Lisa were dancing to on their rollerskates on one of the "Forces" episodes of 3-2-1 Contact. It's been a while so could someone correct me if I'm wrong?

  • Yes, that's correct. I also remembered that.

  • This is the version I remember too. It was probably the funniest I had ever seen at that point in my life.

  • This was the version I was looking for!!! SO much better than the Muppet Show version! What a great find!!

  • i like this version better too. :D

  • Oh my god I used to freak out when I saw this as a kid!

  • The Muppet Show version I believe is better.

  • my favorite Kermit song :D

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jln5ygwElLo&search=disco%20frog%20muppet%20show Muppet Show version.

  • I just saw the Muppet show version. It doesn't hold a candle to this one.

  • For some reason, the animated Kermit used to freak me out as a kid. Come to think of it, alot of Sesame Street freaked me out as a kid. I love it still!

  • OMG, Me Too!! I was so scared of it!

  • A Muppet Show version? I wanna see that.

  • taylorheston has that one. Check it out.

  • I remember when I first saw this performed on The Muppet Show with Christopher Reeve as a guest star! Kermit wore a white leisure suit in the original!

  • Leave that stuff to the frog. No it would be embarrassing if you did it now. Three is forgivable. Although I do get where you are coming from.

  • My family has a hilarious (and embarassing) home movie of me spazzing out to this song when I was 3.
