The Nissan GT-R is a great car but saying it is better than Corvette is crazy the GT-R doesn't have near the history that Corvette does and every time they have compared the GT-R to a Corvette ZR-1 the Vette killed it.
@EclipseGS04 Performance wise yes it was fairly better but it really depends on your tastes. I personally like the GT-R because of it's significantly easier driving and immense luxury compared to the ZR-1. You may like the ZR-1 more because you prefer power before luxury. @AccordGTR The difference between me not being a ricer is that I own American Muscle cars too like the 2010 Camaro which outsold all Mazda & Nissan sports cars last year. I see commercials on TV all the time on SPEED of the Corvette team winning the Lemans & other races. Nissan doesnt even have a whole lot of racing history anyway I mostly see Mazdas in races more than I see Hondas or Nissans. Not to mention how many video comparisons have they done where the ZR-1 beat the Nissan GT-R .

The only fast cars japan has is Nissan GT-R, & Lexus LFA. @EclipseGS04 Japan's roads are not like the US for one thing. It's better to have smaller, nimbler cars than big heavy powerful cars in Japan. u define "fast" as top speed, 0-60 and magazine tests. Sorry but that's not what the real world is all about. In the US, drag racing is more popular than circuit racing. But in Japan, racing drivers are treated like football or basketball stars. Driving skill and car set-up can make up a huge difference in power. It's a different culture.

@EclipseGS04 Not sure what is Japan's most popular sports cars but they also like European supercars. There's even have a Ford GT racing in Japan Super GT. LFA is too limited/expensive so I would say the GT-R is #1. But because of price I think the Type R's & S2000 are still popular. Japan has sportscars nobody else in the world gets. And their premium gas is the highest octane in the world. Philippines gets 100 octane in certain stations. I think Japan gets 102. US only gets, what, 96 octane?
@AccordGTR I own an Eclipse too I have owned 2 of them because I like Mitsubishi & their car designs but they screwed up the new Eclipses design is ugly. A ricer is someone that thinks import Honda Civics, Accords, ect are fast when they are not. I never said my Eclipses were fast and I wouldnt try to race an American Muscle car in one because you will look stupid trying it. Whats even more stupid about the GT-R is the hp in the engine is different everytime they build one.
@EclipseGS04 I live in the Philippines but I have a Japanese girlfriend. hehe. I used to race in the Philippine Touring Car Championships in a Honda Civic SIR race car. We have a couple of Japanese engineers who work and advice us. I lived 10 years in the US where I learned about cars. I had a 67 Camaro RS convertible among many cars I owned. I only got into Honda's here cuz they are the best circuit platforms to race, both in cost and speed. I specialize in race car set-up and ECU tuning.

Why don't people like get some facts first? Nissan states in the warranty that you only turn the VDC off for snow/mud escape not to launch from. It's in the Warranty but I guess the Americans can't read a simple book about the car they bought...
I'm not talking about the launch control, the tranny is a piece of shit in the first place. But lets say I do only use launch control to escape from mud or snow, like the manual says (and which I knew about since it was released), you still void the warranty either way. The GT-R is so easy to operate, you can void your warranty at the touch of a button.

NO the ZR-1 will give you a heart attack on the track while the gt-r will be controlled at the limit - just watch the videos. it's all preference when it comes down to it

Theres PLENTY of Euro drivers drive for Japan! Have u check out the R35 GT500? Its driven by a Euro and Japanese driver, from Lexus and Acura has Euro on their side. Check out "Supersnake vs GTR" and check out "Nissan GTR vs Z06 C6 C5"..4 Vettes on the track, so does the Mustang GT500..
I didn`t deny a gtr can launch faster..it does obviously it`s all wheel drive..the Z06 has run roughly the same quartermiles..hell people have run 11 flat with a stock Z06 getting rid of the goodyears and throwing on some DRs..DRs wouldnèt help the GTR much though due to the fact it already grips amazing..so it wouldn't gain much from extra grip

You dont need speed in Gt racing ..you need stability ..ask Viper and Corvette about that problem...Corvette did great in the gt series ..untill it was damp or rained...Skylines downforce will provide the ultimate in handling in a car thats already all wheel drive.

I don't think putting a spoiler on a GT-R is a good idea. The entire car is set up to send air to the spoiler, and IMO it handles a lot better w/ the stock spoiler on it. But each to his own I guess.

I own a Ford GT and an Audi R8. The GTR is wildly unreliable and not very fun to drive. I DID DRIVE ONE. It did not do 0-60 in 3.3 sec it was more like 3.9-4.2 While that's not slow it is not 3.3 ether. I am getting a Gallardo this summer.

i've seen the 370z in person and i was kinda disappointed. the front look strange in my opinion, with the sharks teeth and the headlights. i think the g37 has better looking headlights and front fascia. but the rear on the 370z looks nice.. it makes it look like a real widebody track car. i have a love/hate opinion about it. but i think im still going to get a g37 over the 370z, b/c i like all the standard luxury features.

@EclipseGS04 Not sure what is Japan's most popular sports cars but they also like European supercars. There's even have a Ford GT racing in Japan Super GT. LFA is too limited/expensive so I would say the GT-R is #1. But because of price I think the Type R's & S2000 are still popular. Japan has sportscars nobody else in the world gets. And their premium gas is the highest octane in the world. Philippines gets 100 octane in certain stations. I think Japan gets 102. US only gets, what, 96 octane?

@AccordGTR I own an Eclipse too I have owned 2 of them because I like Mitsubishi & their car designs but they screwed up the new Eclipses design is ugly. A ricer is someone that thinks import Honda Civics, Accords, ect are fast when they are not. I never said my Eclipses were fast and I wouldnt try to race an American Muscle car in one because you will look stupid trying it. Whats even more stupid about the GT-R is the hp in the engine is different everytime they build one.

@EclipseGS04 I live in the Philippines but I have a Japanese girlfriend. hehe. I used to race in the Philippine Touring Car Championships in a Honda Civic SIR race car. We have a couple of Japanese engineers who work and advice us. I lived 10 years in the US where I learned about cars. I had a 67 Camaro RS convertible among many cars I owned. I only got into Honda's here cuz they are the best circuit platforms to race, both in cost and speed. I specialize in race car set-up and ECU tuning.

You should not get caught up in the numbers because every car is different, even if they are the same model. People don't really understand about how power is generated and measured anyway. The only thing that matters IMO is who wins races or breaks lap records and whether or not you can really drive. I don't like bench racing or pissing contests. LOL

Why don't people like get some facts first? Nissan states in the warranty that you only turn the VDC off for snow/mud escape not to launch from. It's in the Warranty but I guess the Americans can't read a simple book about the car they bought...

I'm not talking about the launch control, the tranny is a piece of shit in the first place. But lets say I do only use launch control to escape from mud or snow, like the manual says (and which I knew about since it was released), you still void the warranty either way. The GT-R is so easy to operate, you can void your warranty at the touch of a button.

people who really race know that it doesn't depend on the make and model - it's who modifies it the best, pays attention to detail, and goes balls to the wall on the track. i like chevy AND nissan - does it mean one is better than the other? NO the ZR-1 will give you a heart attack on the track while the gt-r will be controlled at the limit - just watch the videos. it's all preference when it comes down to it

Theres PLENTY of Euro drivers drive for Japan! Have u check out the R35 GT500? Its driven by a Euro and Japanese driver, from Lexus and Acura has Euro on their side. Check out "Supersnake vs GTR" and check out "Nissan GTR vs Z06 C6 C5"..4 Vettes on the track, so does the Mustang GT500..

I didn`t deny a gtr can launch faster..it does obviously it`s all wheel drive..the Z06 has run roughly the same quartermiles..hell people have run 11 flat with a stock Z06 getting rid of the goodyears and throwing on some DRs..DRs wouldnèt help the GTR much though due to the fact it already grips amazing..so it wouldn't gain much from extra grip

You dont need speed in Gt racing ..you need stability ..ask Viper and Corvette about that problem...Corvette did great in the gt series ..untill it was damp or rained...Skylines downforce will provide the ultimate in handling in a car thats already all wheel drive.

I don't think putting a spoiler on a GT-R is a good idea. The entire car is set up to send air to the spoiler, and IMO it handles a lot better w/ the stock spoiler on it. But each to his own I guess.

I own a Ford GT and an Audi R8. The GTR is wildly unreliable and not very fun to drive. I DID DRIVE ONE. It did not do 0-60 in 3.3 sec it was more like 3.9-4.2 While that's not slow it is not 3.3 ether. I am getting a Gallardo this summer.

the spec V to bring over here if you could would cost like 200 grand..it's not the same GTR at all..and where have you seen the spec V on the SAME skidpad as the GT and the ZR1? how do electronics counteracts a narrower car higher center of gravity? it would have to have some pretty damn beefy swaybars and stiff springs..since electronics cannot couteract lateral acceleration..just saying..when you read these magazine tests..are they tested on the same track same day same conditions?

i've seen the 370z in person and i was kinda disappointed. the front look strange in my opinion, with the sharks teeth and the headlights. i think the g37 has better looking headlights and front fascia. but the rear on the 370z looks nice.. it makes it look like a real widebody track car. i have a love/hate opinion about it. but i think im still going to get a g37 over the 370z, b/c i like all the standard luxury features.

yes ur correct. vette does 3.4 sec and gtr is 3.5. hardly faster. but the vette u get ur moneys worth. it lookd alot more sporty, 2 where the gtr just looks like a reg everyday car. no sharp edges. so for 103k compared 2 80k. save ur money the vettes better.

umm the zr1 dominated the gtr in every test the put them up against... but sadly the zr1 is well over 100k

Ok, what's your point? In the US, the GT-R goes for US$ 80-90k... V-Spec will be off the charts when it is sold here and the ZR1 will be a huge bargain compared to it.

Its still a GM.. so it fails, I dont care how f***in fast it is.. V-Spec will be faster.. V-SPec II will be even faster, and then theres the Nur Spec... you get the idea..
