Chris Barrie as Rimmer is hilarious, he has all those impressions and his jokes are just plain funnier than the bits with Kachanski. Kachasnki has some funny bits, but not nearly as many as Rimmer.

@2011mrkingofkings Another reason could be that the show was down one writer after season 6. Together they were amazing, but apart the humor just didn't have that spark like the first 6 seasons. This is a good example of "the whole is greater than the sum of its parts".

When I worked in the health service (prior to leaving all the bullshit behind and moving to Greece) and had to attend "meetings" on a regular basis, there was so many "Rimmers" chairing meetings it was comical. I actually asked what cooking had to do with our agenda when the meeting "chairperson" said she would put the suggestion on the back burner. Needless tho say there was a lot of sniggering, and one very redfaced woman who proceeded to explain(seriously) what she meant by that expression.
