I always wondered how the cold feels to the wolves - but if they don't seek shelter and just sit there taking it like champs I bet they feel toasty with all that fur. I'd be freezing my butt off! XD Curse you evolution.
It's rather sad to see how they sugar-coat the mating process in these documentaries. Even in their amazing book, Wolves At Our Door, they describe the violent and brutal nature of these animals in the breeding season. It's aggravating how they portray Kamots "choosing" Chemukh as his mate- in reality, Chemukh just eliminated her competition by attacking and handicapping Wyakin. It's a vital part of the wolves' lives, and I hate how they completely dismissed it...
@lesleyjapan well an alpha male wolf can't really have a weak mate. so they have to choose the strongest one. Chemukh "wounding" Wyakin is her way of saying "i'm the strongest, pick me. Our pups will have a strong mother." its stupid. but it kind of works. sadly.
@xxpuppetgirlxxx It's not stupid, it's the way a pack can grow. They will have strong and smart pups because of that. It seems stupid because humans don't live in the wild. It's called hierarchy, It's the way the world and the wolves grow stronger. Don't you pick a person who is strong and smart? They do too.

They are just defensive about a meal that took them forever to catch . Therefore if an omega didn't help catch it, they are usually the last to eat. Think about it. If you just worked your butt off for a meal that rarely comes along, you'd be kinda reluctant to share with someone who didn't help
Can humans invent a new social model or do humans enforce a new social model? If you look at how different dogs are from wolwes they are so because of the social model we humans enforce upon them. Therefore, the wolf is not a one trick pony but all new developements take time.
