  • Imagine building a house on one of these by accident.

  • I love these type of NASA documentaries !!!

  • Something like this most likely exist somewhere in the Universe.

  • It'd be awesome if they made another movie about the awesomeness and realism that is Darwin IV.

  • @BlockisticStudios have you read the book this was based on, Expedition by wayne barlowe

  • Comment removed

  • @goldgrif

    I own it, yes.

  • is it really possible for such a creature to get so big. And isn't it impossible for emperor sea strider to exist on a any planet more than 1/6 x earth gravity

  • Ah shit, Dirtzilla.

  • Groveback, ey? I will call him Jim. Hello, Jim!

  • to anyone who says this is unrealistic, there has been life as large as this on earth too, moving and non-moving. Giant land dinosaurs, blue whale, huge underwater dinosaurs, plants.

  • @FireBenderKwyna

It's not unrealistic because there's been large creatures on Earth. Almost everything has a reason for turning out the way they did on Darwin IV. Gravity is a lot less potent on the planet, and the creatures are far less dense than on Earth. This allows such immense sizes in the ecosystem.

  • I would build my house on one of those!

    I love to travel!

Hay check out my art vid titled 'Color Lust'

    Thanks!

  • A wild Torterra has appeared!

  • What a load of shit.

  • retard video! Alliens should look like humans, because if another planet had conditions like Earth's earlier, it would stat over again from bacterias to dinosaurs, to their extinction, and to first ancient monkeys.....Don't ya agree...

P.S. I watched this video, when i was little and i was so scared my bed was full of shit...:P

  • The Groveback is amazing i wish it was on earth so we could se such a thing

  • @jdaniels161 Yeah, same here. It's an amazing creature, it looks like a cross between a turtle and a mushroom to me

  • @girlgarde yeah it kinda does lol imagine wat it would be like to c 1. talk about breathtaking

  • @jdaniels161 I would crap myself senseless to see one even walking past me XD

  • @ipods36 i would pass out with aw lol

  • Pokemon

  • That's real, I've seen it at the omaha zoo!

  • viomartyr,

You seen that on earth, And what do you expect? Cybertron?

  • "And in return, the trees inject sugars into the grovebacks. It's not much, but it's enough to jumpstart these massive walkabouts, on Darwin IV."

  • spore ftw!!

  • I think anything is plausible. Have you seen some of the creatures living in our oceans depths??

  • Tried to make one of these in spore!

  • It's just a Torterra.

  • @wesbrunao And the skewer is a Beutifly.

  • This can't be real. But it might be.

  • I saw one of these on my visit to Africa last year. It was so far off but still was huge.

  • I <3 these things thier so cool. :)

  • Just a thought.. what if life as we know it is different from one planet to another? what if they breath nitrogen or any other gas and oxygen for them is toxic.. just like early life.. oxygen for them is toxic.. they breath in carbon dioxide... what if aliens breath different gases? or what if they don't need water to survive or what if water for them is toxic? What if another alien lifeform saw our planet and they thought its inhabitable due to water? We should open our minds to possibilities..

  • @mousematcher I hope you know humans ourselves breathe different gasses lol.

  • @AgrivatedKillah I know that.. ^_^

  • me quiero cortar las pelotas, que mierda es eso? xD los de la nasa tienen una imaginacion deberian trabajar en programas infantiles :D

  • hahahaha nice vid

  • Their hypothesis is flawed, no creature can evolve to have this sort of shape and adaptation, considering it's size, for many reasons. one reason is that it's shape is all wrong, the bigger a creature becomes, the skinnier it gets, we see this in many of the larger sauropods such as diplodicus, and amphicelious. second, we do not see any complex lifeforms on earth absorbing nutrients from the soil other that plants, so what makes them think that we'd see that on other planets?

  • What makes you think evolution on other planets resemble anything of what we see on Earth?

You can't draw profound conclusions after seeing life evolve on only one planet. It's like stating that every dog has spots after seeing a dalmatian. Who knows what evolutional craziness other biospheres might come up with?

  • diferent gravity

  • I Loved This show! Thing? What Ever This Was I Wached It Twice!

  • This is from a book by an artist who knows a lot about evolution named Wayne Douglas Barlowe. I think it was Discovery who adapted his book into a TV special because his ideas for life on another world were severely different than our own life and made evolutionary sense.

  • you guys remember Never Ending Story with that huge ass turtle???

  • Why we pay NASA to do whatever they want is the wrong question..... the right question is WHY does NASA, with some of the smartest scientists in the world, feel like this was a good example to use... most of NASA's work is top secret.... so who knows

  • There are also paintungs and art afo giant turtles that did this from ancient times, Frank Frazetta and his teachers all painted them.

  • Lol it didn't take much imagination to come up with that groveback. it's just a Grotle out of pokemon lol look it up!

  • They only have 2 things in common: Plants coming out of shell-like backs and elephant legs.

Other than that they're completely and totally different ideas.

  • i'm wondered

  • this is bollocks! we do have the capacity to guess what nature brings we just arent smart enough..... yet!

  • This is not real of course... but to think that someone can actually come up with this is already something and besides Wayne Barlowe's the best .. he did design works for some of the great fantasy films that we have today.

  • Apollo found one of these huge beasts petrified on Earth's moon from an earlier age when there was atmosphere. It was being used as a moonwalker of sorts. Much like an elephant on Earth, the ride along equipment is still strapped to its back. You can see the Apollo 17 Dinosaur find by You Tube searching Schmitt and Cernan at Station 6". (Who is wrong by saying it is just a rock.) Or Apollo video at "ALIEN SPACESHIP ON THE MOON flyover bef. landing 3" Links posted at the blue more info icon.

  • you do relize that the moon does not have sufficient gravitational pull to keep an atomosphere!

  • you are correct, but that doesnt mean that it has always been the case... it is just the case in recent history

  • @gonerfishing

Please be joking about that. Seriously, do you actually believe there's petrified monsters on the moon that resemble a certain artist's work

    yeah totally reall !111!1111

  • @gonerfishing

Rofl, either you're extremely gullible or trolling. Sad either way.

  • @gonerfishing WTF? people like you damage any attempt to explore if there is alien contact!

  • @gonerfishing Do you really believe that?, That the rock is an ancient fossil? dont make me laugh. And the moon has never had an atmosphere, becouse obviously it cant due to the low mass and the low gravity

  • @squallo9 Yes I do believe this fact. The moon had a thin Earth like atmosphere once with life there and still has trace atmosphere today. They have now found much water in the soil also. Ask Richard C. Hoagland or John Lear. I would say they know more then both of us. Scientists once said, "The world was flat." Do not believe all they feed you in school and online. Look at the evidence as per more recent signs and wonders of real Truth...

  • @gonerfishing Evidence? What evidence? a rock with a strange form is an evidence? The presence of water and oxygen dont mean that there is live. Those elements are very common in universe and in our solar system and are not always associated with life. The presence of water in the moon is due to its close formation to us and comets colissions. The trace of atmosphere present today in the moon doesnt indicate an habitable past. They are there becouse of phenomenons like outgassing and sputtering.

  • @gonerfishing There are many people relacionated with science that postulates a lot of ludicrous ideas. For example, some of them say that there is a secret quantum teleporter between earth and mars, which is obviously ridiculous. The fact that someone is a scientific doesnt mean that all that he says is true. The scientific community is who try to establish a general idea about all these things. People with minimun knowledge about this matter will find your theories ridiculous

  • @voniks OK. Now show us the groveback's predator. :)

  • @RoscoesRiffs I think they did, theres these little creatures that live in the ground that pop up and spear stuff with their razor sharp bodies or something. I saw this a long time ago, so my memory's a little fuzzy, but i do remember they were able to bring one of these down.

  • If it absorbs nutrients threw it's skin why dose it need a mouth?

  • maybe thats the next stage of evolution? :D

  • who makes this shit up, why cant people see outside the box.

  • it this with those 2 droids? of which one named ike?

  • It looks like Diplocaulus but bigger (reminds me of torterra)

  • Yay groveback!!! I haven't seen you since you got your ass whooped by the power rangers a while back. So this is where you at.

  • Don`t come to Earth,please!!!!!!!

  • Reminds me of Shadow of the Colossus.

  • That's one of the best games ever, right?

  • cool if that thing lived hear on earth whit us not knowing of it couse it stayd under ground long before any known man history huh...sudenly a small town or something was out traveling x)

  • i choose you, groveback! use razorleaf!

  • @Theorama11 lol

  • That's completely ridiculous... Still, though, it'd be cool to build a house on that thing's back if it did exist.

  • dude, this is fictional man...

  • HOLY SHIT!

  • No need to get so sensitive

  • I got that DVD, incredible animations and very interesting subject...worth all the money!

  • This is like star wars.

  • yes.......

  • The Groveback reminds me much of the sauropod dinosaurs.

  • hypothetical *sigh*--awesomeness cool with we had the tech to venture their now AND return home. Can imagine that thing would shit mountains. rock climbing anyone :P

  • TATS AWSOME !

  • the groveback is huge but darwin 4's largest creature is the sea strider

  • Wayne Barlowe designed these creatures

  • wow talk about the bacteria contained on those things if they do exist.

  • cool

  • Yes, you would be. It takes 42 years to get to the Darwin system, another 4 years to beam data back to the Earth. You do the maths. :)

However, we will not be able to start a real interstellar mission that soon, I think such a mission as this is most likely to be expected around 2035-2040. Also, Darwin IV is a fictional planet 4 light years away, the nearest system with confirmed planets is 10 light years away, it would obviously take longer to get there.

  • could be possible

  • It is! I found an ancient fossil picture of one on the moon via Apollo 17. Frozen from eons ago during an ancient time when there was a thin atmosphere. I think that is why NASA has leaked out this critter's basic form in a fictional animated movie so they can later be correct? Write me for free pictures? My e-mail is posted under the "more info" icon on this page.

  • Animals can't live on moons, there is no atmosphere, and because it is another celestial body, there are probably alien looking rocks. There MIGHT be bacteria on the moon, extreemeophiles, but thats really pushing it. Sorry if I might have ruined you're dream, but there are no gigantic alien creatures on the moon, it is impossible.

  • The moon once had atmosphere. Even if you believe it came from Earth(wrong) it carried some atmosphere. Outgasing as it cooled made atmosphere. Apollo 8 took pictures of outgasing. Some say it is a vent stack from a subsurface hidden alien industrial complex. Our moon is artificial. It is a massive craft created by our creator to be the light of night, induce microbial food chain life by tidal influences,& carry developed life to other Earth like planets. We fell & thus lost the keys to the car.

  • @gonerfishing the moon had life in the past? where can i read about this? it sounds interesting.

  • @gonerfishing very interesting theory! i have thought similar!

  • @gonerfishing The moon never had atmosphere. It's far too small to hold on to any gas because it has to compete with both earth's gravity and stellar winds.

  • @celophysis5454545

Did you know that after Neil Armstrong was on the moon, NASA never sent someone back on the moon

  • @celophysis5454545 dude its an alien they can live in space if they want.and no one ver said it was on the moon.of course this is fake but still aliens dont have to look like anythin on earth or have earth qualities. this dosnt even look like the moon

  • well how do people know about his im just wondering

  • I have never seen this before, were can I find the dvd!

  • I posted the source "Alien Planet" link under the blue "more info" icon. It is sold in 16:9 wide screen format at that web page.

  • i made this in spore but its ugly

    check out my page

  • if anyone has any questions about these animals or this planet or wat this abaout just message me. i reserched this and i hav the dvd so i know wat im talking about

  • oh and one more this im not making this up this stuff intrests me and i understand it. plus i have the full dvd so i know wat im talking about

  • this is a planet that nasa are sening 3 probes like these to explore. the journey will take 42 yeas and they will take off in 2014 if everything goes to plan. there is water as well as oxygen on this planet. this is just an animation but these video showes the creatures that could live on this planet. they might only find microbiological life like bacterica and maybe not even that. these are just educational guesses.

  • So the probes are going faster than light?

  • no the probes are going 20% of the speed of light so it takes 43 years to get there

  • John C, Mcginely! or Dr. Cox to most of us....Nice land animal. Cool idea for tv show

  • although this is just made up, it was still very cool to see what life on other planets might look like

  • Can somone tell me where I could find this whole thing not in Spanish

  • @Olimar10001

    google video

    search for alien planet

first entry is the whole doc..... in english

  • So this is Real???

  • This show is a "fictional" animal that could be on another planet. That said , I have found frozen/petrified remains like this animal on Earths moon which once had atmosphere before meteoric bombardment dissipated most lunar gases. Please see my "Ancient Groveback Moonwalker" video to see a petrified example of this said to be fictional animal. NASA knows this truth as per Apollo 17.

  • Yes it is real. I am selling kits to grow these anilmals in your backyard, like seamonkeys.

Just send me your life savings.

  • What does the supernatural have to do with this program? (Answer - nothing.)

  • Reminds me of the Emporer Bulblax from Pikmin.

  • You know i hope if we or when we do find life on othere planets i hope they will look almost like or at least have some resemblance to the the groveback. Because it just looks so cool.

  • What is the programme called again?

  • Alien Planet

  • I love shows like this that play with the thought of life on other planets and how animals will evolve after we are gone.

  • Where they get that MOTA? i want some of that.

  • If they feed through skin, why do they have a mouth?

  • to talk to each other duh

  • omfg darwin lololol thts a place in australia iv been there but never seen one of those :P

    xD

  • groveback is amazing

  • anyone think that thing might keep the raccoons out my yard?

  • It looks like something off of Shadow of the Colossus.

  • alien turtwig=P

  • this is from amovie called alien planet. there is a planet out there iwht water and oxigen on the planet. this is a videos of wat animals could posibly live there. in 2014 they are sending 3 probs to explore the planet. the jorney will take 42 years even though it is going 20% the speed of light. then when they get there every message of videos of animals that may live there will take 4 years to ge to earth. htey may only find small organisms like bacteria and microorganisms. but it is posible

  • Aww! I want one as a pet! xD

  • nice... but not "NASA'S"

  • 42 years?!!!! every one will like forget

  • Err. This is just a show dude. We haven't found any terrestrial planets yet.

  • yes there are. we just haven't explored them yet.

  • yes we have. there sending 3 probes to look 4 life. they may only find micro animals like germs or bacteria. but there is water, oxygen, plants and tree like plants. so they may find things. read my coment thats above yours

  • id like to see those someday! +P

  • These creature's remind me of elephents.0_0

  • so crazy, the possibilities :)

  • actually all the creatures and the scenario in this mini-series were dreamed up by a painter. The panel of biologists and astro-whatevers are just there to give the impression that there's more science to it than there is. Still an awesome show

  • amazing paradoxes!!!!!

  • Because it's entertaining.

  • there the tallest. these are the most massive

  • whats the point of making this video if none of it is real. i was just watching it downstairs

  • Because it gives us an idea whats out there.

  • wasnt this the largest?

  • wait if this was 2nd largest, what was largest?

  • Wow what thats for an animal! good video!!!

    Best Video on YouTube! lol

  • I didn't know that NASA made Sci-Fi :)

  • if i had a pet groveback i plant a jungle on its back

  • if i had a pet groveback i would plant a forest on its back. and mabye animals like birds a squrils will live on it

  • your logic is flawless...

  • this is my favorite creature from the dvd.

  • plz help!!!! i seen it on tv a long time ago but i do not know the name of it. plz tell me the name!!!ty

  • It is called "Alien Planet". I will put an official preview link under the "more info" blue icon at the top right of this You Tube page.

  • IT'S ALIVE IT'S HUGE!

  • is this real??

  • Nope, just warming us up to the idea of life on other planets... I think they have found stuff on Mars and even our own Moon.

  • It's not by NASA it's by the artist Douglas Wayne Barlowe. Lrn2accurately give credit.

  • How big is this thing?

like how many times bigger than a car

  • Those are about 20 ft. high trees on its back. I would say about one hundred times the size of a large car by volume.

  • its like skyscraper tall

you should see the whole show its really cool

  • I loved the Alien Planet movie! It was so cool, Does anybody know when the next showing is? I really want to record it.

  • i saw this on t.v there r some wierder creatures but likley not going to happen when they say it will and to ruin it the 2 bots die and the exploration is unseccesful 2 giant something sapiens kill the robots...:)

  • I like the Skewer

  • that is one big 2 legged thing

  • 3 legged, if you count the wierd rudder

  • Thats called a tail.

  • dammit i had the entire show in ma favorites, some1 uploaded it entirely but i lost it and cant find it anymore:(

  • My favorite fake animal reminds me of a turtle

  • The term is hypothetical, not fake. When they say hypothetical, it means that it is possible, however unlikely, that there is a creature similar to that shown somewhere in the universe.

  • Second largest? Was there something bigger? It's been so long since I watched this, I need to buy the DVD.

  • yeah, the sea strider

  • .................. is this actually real!?!?!?@

  • Nope. This is just a "What if?" video made by NASA. They are just is getting us ready for some finds that may be upcoming in the news. Most of this big stuff is frozen on Iapetus, Mars, and of course Earth. Quite dead like our dinosaurs. Pliosaur was just found in Norway, is thought to have measured 50 feet long. Pliosaur's remains are located 800 miles from our planets North Pole.

  • Did they ever say how big Darwin 4 is in comparison to Earth?
