exactly a holy angel, he was not love incarnate, or "mr.

perfect", as evidenced by his crash landing. So Hal's

attitude is understandable. No fear. Nobody to disappoint.

Can't do worse than this guy.

I just realized something.Abin Sur calls himself a space partrolman.While Hal says hell call himself "Green Lantern".They screwed that part up.Green Lantern is the name of the entire space police force.Abin Sur was a GL not a Space Patrol Man.Hal Jordan didnt just make that name up it was already used.

@DawsonxXxsama Whoever wrote this for this cartoon messed up or maybe they thought we wouldn't understand. Green Lanterns have a weakness for anyone that uses the power of fear which is yellow. It doesn't mean that it is a weakness for the color otherwise all you have to do is wear a yellow suit and you can beat any Green Lantern. Later on it was changed as a few mentioned that the power of fear can be overcome only if that Green Lantern has overcome his or her personal fear.

@pmgpc69 the yellow fear thing only came into existence within the past decade really. Before the retcons by Geoff Johns Parallax was Hal Jordan gone nuts, the colour yellow as his weakness with no fear element at all to it. There was just Green Lanterns and Sinestro with a yellow ring (he didn't even wear yellow clothing) none of the other emotional spectrum.

This cartoon was made long before the time of these changes so as far as the current canon of the time it was fine.

Green Lanternss originally had no power over yellow because of an "impurity" in the Central Power Battery on Oa, the HQ of the Lanterns. A few years ago, that impurity was revealed to be Parallax, the living embodiment of the emotion of Fear. Nowadays, GLs are able to affect yellow provided they are able to conquer the fear within themselves.

@homer912 In a short story by Alan Moore called Tygers it was explained that Abin Sur had learned that his ring would fail him when he needed it most so he started flying in a ship as a precaution. While he was transporting the prisoner Attroticus who used fear to break Abin Sur's will and escape and then his ship crashed.

@homer912 In the old comics the lanterns often used ships (Hal did for a while too). It kind of made sense if you were doing a lot of travelling around. You had a place to put the battery instead of carrying it around, and you wouldn't be hosed if your 24 hour charge ran out in the middle of space.
