Khan indeed does have terrific hand speed and footwork, but his defence still is not great plus he lacks a knockout punch. Valero looks rough in these fights as he was untrained to this point. Now he has a good trainer so he really should improve his technique. Give him 2-3 fights then we can judge, Pitalua is a pretty decent fighter too.

You have to remember this guy virtually trained himself for most of his career as he got banned in the U.S. For the first time he has a decent trainer, this trainer worked with De La Hoya in the 1990's so expect his technique to improve vastly. I think he would destroy the likes of say Amir Khan for example but he needs to tighten up his defence to have a chance against Manny, Marquez et al.

Valero has knock out power, when he lands a clean blow, if he fights Pacquiao it would be a great fight. In any fight, his footwork never stop.
But he has no power & always suffer cut.
I think that he able to give frustration to most of top boxer, but he never win.

It's simply false. Ortiz was an up and coming golden boy promoted fighter. Oscar gave "credit" to Ortiz for the black eye, but behind closed doors it was widely known that it was in fact Valero who did it.
Valero is quoted by BoxingScene, and later credited by Beristain himself, that, "I gave Oscar the black eye, I was busting him up real good, ask him himself who did it, he knows it was me".
He went on to predict Pacquiao should KO Oscar, because Valero said Oscar was not training at all.

I think you have to give Honmou credit in this fight, Valero never looked like he was going to knock him out, but for the stoppage i think it would have gone to points. No disputing the win for Valero though.

I kinda like this Nobuhito guy, he really brought the fight to Valero. Japanese fighters bring their pride & honor in the ring. As per boxrec Nobuhito hasnt fought after this fight but his winning streak before this fight is pretty impressive which includes upcoming fighters such as Filipino Jimrex Jaca. Great fight for both fighters.

After Valero sparred closed doors against Manny (I can't seem to post a link here) , Manny never repeated saying Valero beat Tuk Tuk drivers and even invited him to his personal party in the Philippines. Im a Filipino and was one who believed that Manny could win the rematch against Morales before after he lost.

No matter how you call it, 25-0 with 19 1st round knockouts is not overrated. Trust me, with top rank behind him, he will get the additional training he requires. Pac fights like shit backwards, so you cant say this guy cant take his belt. Look at the taylor froch fight. Outboxed the whole way, then lights out taylor. What we need to find out is what his chin is like.

His defence is OK, you don't need to put your dukes up unless the opponent is 2 ft away from you, if you are say that he has no defence watch muhammad ali's fight he also always had his duke upto his chest length, what matters most is speed and stamina, Prescott and valero will be a good fight.

Ali was in a class of his own to use that as an example. I agree his defence is ok because majority of his fights are ko first rounds but when he will face a long reach with a deadly left hook and can take punches and also has greater exp lasting 12 rounds, it becomes a big question whether he can defeat his next opponent.

Actually Valero knocked out Vicente Mosquera who was considered a top contender, and who is now serving time in Panama for murder!!! Khan indeed does have terrific hand speed and footwork, but his defence still is not great plus he lacks a knockout punch. Valero looks rough in these fights as he was untrained to this point. Now he has a good trainer so he really should improve his technique. Give him 2-3 fights then we can judge, Pitalua is a pretty decent fighter too.

pitula was finished khan doesnt have a kncokout punch but the thing is his speed and footwork and now his defence would give him problems....vaelro would be swinging and khan countering..we have never seen valero hit on the chin cos he fights bummsss...khan has steppd up atleast 3 times to fight DECENT fighters(prescott,barerra,st.clair)....so khan would just box and catch him with the left and right hoook..prescott wuld dispose off valero in 2 rounds..as for marques he'd kill edwin valero

You have to remember this guy virtually trained himself for most of his career as he got banned in the U.S. For the first time he has a decent trainer, this trainer worked with De La Hoya in the 1990's so expect his technique to improve vastly. I think he would destroy the likes of say Amir Khan for example but he needs to tighten up his defence to have a chance against Manny, Marquez et al.

Valero has knock out power, when he lands a clean blow, if he fights Pacquiao it would be a great fight. Both are southpaw and have similar styles although i think Manny gets sloppy and gets hit sometimes like in the 2 Marquez fights. Again, Valero has never been up against a great fighter like Pacquiao.

this video perfectly shows how weak a fighter Edwin Valero is...up against an average unknown fighter in Honmo, he had to resort to countless dirty tactics to hurt yet still failed to knockdown his opponent. If up against Pacquiao he'd be very lucky to keep his head and face intact. At the very best, he can only last three rounds then go to the hospital for treatment.

Valero has the right to challenge manny if wishes so but i dont think he is ready yet to fight a well seasoned pound for pound fighter like pacman. All i can suggest for him is to try first all the mexicans that manny had fought like diaz, marquez, morales, barrera. Those are fighters that made pacman the best fighter today. If he can topple them then maybe he has the chance of defeating manny. Think again valero. Now that manny is an all around pound for pound fighter.

I don't get it. The guy's actually pretty good. He may not have good footwork but he has a good reach, great timing, and a lot of punching power that can push any good boxer into the corner or the ropes. He may not move like Manny or Morales, but he's a good slugger.
Valero vs. Pacquiao would probably generate the same ton of money in terms of ppv as the Hatton fight. Though probably not as much as the Morales fight.

what i heard is rite, valero have way to much openings... bad defence. best example is that everytime he make a left punch, his right hand is always below his shoulders leaving his face wide open and vise versa. unlike pacquiao, he always have one of his hands covering him when he attacks. if valero improves on his defence pacquiao vs. valero will be sure a good fite!
