I was joking about the music. I didn't know YouTube added music to videos. I actually turned it off to watch the video, but I would like to hear how the camera's mic performs, since I plan to get this camera.
i also have TZ1. Love it. probably one of top regarding videorecording on digicams. I have tested Sony DSC-T10, Samsung NV3 and Pentax Optio W 30. TZ1 beats all these on videoquality.
I am testing Kodak Z812 IS right now, will check videoquality.
It's a shame that Tz2 and TZ3 can't use optical zoom during video
Yes, recording abilities of that cam are awesome, only problem is taking photos in dark environment (usually they are grained or too dark same as on Canon A75 which I previously owned)
A swedish magazine , "PC för alla" (PC for all )have tested videoquality of some digicams. They asked the producers to send their best camera . The models were:
To be honest I don't remember how Movie Maker works, because it has been long time since last time using it. Do you use built in options for importing movies or are you using ready files that are downloaded from camera before?
Probably it is even better because it has more megapixels and also its matrix is bigger. Only problem is that it has worse aperture (3.3 vs 2.8) which means that in lower light conditions there could be some trouble (tz1 sucks in that matter).
I've used my Panasonic DMC-TZ1 to record video at concerts with amazing results. Very impressed with the 10x optical zoom and the audio quality as well. Check my vid's to see for yourself! Great digi-cam.

Great video, thanks. And the camera mic really did well with the music in your car, considering it was loud enough to break the windows. ;-)

hehe
I am sorry to break the news to you but music wansn't from my car speakers, it was later added by youtube :). But mic does work fine :)

I have another video on my account that shows how mic is working. I would record new video test for you, but I sold that camera few days ago :).

The program will convert the video container from QuickTime .mov to AVI, no compression will be used on video or audio at all.
Your movie should now be in avi format.
Open Windows movie maker, navigate to tools, options, compatibility.
Tick option for ffdshow video decoder.

To get videos from the TZ models to work with Windows Movie maker do the following.
Download and install a program called MP4Cam2AVI and a video codec called ffdshow.Open your movie in MP4Cam2AVI.
Leave program settings as they are except under audio format change to 'source audio(no recompression).
Press start, conversion process should only take a second or two.

yes, grainy´pics are not fun.
A swedish magazine , "PC för alla" (PC for all )have tested videoquality of some digicams. They asked the producers to send their best camera . The models were:
Canon Digital Ixus 75 (8 of 10 points)
Canon Powershot S5 IS (9 of 10, WINNER )
HP Photosmart R847 (6 of 10)
Nikon Coolpix L12 (6 of 10)
Samsung S1050 ((6 of 10)
Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H7 (8 of 10)
Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W80 (7 of 10)

Check videosamples here:
pcforallaDOTidgDOTse/2.1054/1.121631
go to "Sid 59-63: Filma med digitalkameran"
as you will see, i think canon S5 is very grainy, panasonic tz1 beats this too! But he says (in swedish ) that is somewhat overexposed i think
videcce 4 years ago
Powershot S5 IS takes amazing videos (at least what they showed there). I think it is even better than DMCTZ1 and that zoom speed - i love it :).
But another important thing for me was ability to put camera in a pocket, TZ1 is not small, but S5 is huuuge :)
And as usual HP sucks. HP 320 was my first camera but it seems they still can't make good cameras.
