  • i love my canaan dog regan she is so pritty

  • Do Canaan's all have clipped ears? We have a Canaan that came to us when she was about 5 years old without much information about her past but she has soft floppy ears and we've always wondered if that means she is a cross. Any info would be great. She's also a solid black which I haven't seen in examples of other in Canaans.

  • @melboose She's probably either a mix or an anomaly. The Canaan dog's ears naturally stand up like that -- they aren't clipped at all, just how they're shaped.

  • Where can you find a Canaan dog my kid really wants one

  • My partner, BlueDog, is a Canaan. Black-n-white. Best best best dog ever ever ever.

He won't tolerate intruders until I say its okay. Then, and only then, he settles and excepts it and becomes a lush for love-ens. He's vocal .... as in many different sounds to indicate his moods and desires which is quite interesting and entertaining as well.

If you sign up with a Canaan, you won't be disappointed.

  • @burgh58 Is it an affectionate dog? as in snuggle with its owner at night?

  • I am seriously thinking about a Canaan puppy. I was stoked to find a breeder in a neighbor state.

  • I'm thinking about buying one as a pup for our first pet. I have a 6 yr. old daughter about to be 7, me and the hubby agreed on this Breed. It's like one of a kind and really hard to find a breeder in this area. I live in U.S. anyone know the price for one of these? I can't find any Breeders with puppies available! Makes me want one even more=p I've read the general characteristics of this breed and I feel as long as I socialize it with children and other dogs it will make a great family pet^^

  • @Noodlezization Check out petfinder(.)com. Hope this helps!

  • there is a picture of my dog in this [roxy with mojo, who is not my dog] that you are not authorized to use. please remove this video or credit the owners of the pictures.

  • I don't know who prepared this "video" but it just seems to be a collection of ripped off pictures from Canaan Dog websites. Why this was perceived to be a showcase for the Canaan Dog defies me, as there are some horrible examples of the breed in these pictures.

  • @maccabee8888 lol wtf?

  • we have one (a mix) and his brother (chow/lab mix) ...great dog but not great with other dogs, very territorial, guarding is his job, and policing other dogs. Been prof trained and housebroken in 2 weeks. Very loving and playful but need attentive owners. Our dogs are rescues.

  • do these dogs make good attack dogs, like a german shepherd, or pitbull?

  • i have to disagree, in a way. I had never had a dog until I recently adopted a Canaan dog recently (months ago). Fantastic animals if you are willing to put the time into paying attention and maintaining their training. An intelligent dog that requires refreshers of obedience training. Lovely companion, even for someone who has never owned a dog before. HOWEVER - make sure you have the TIME to focus on training and maintaining the dog. They pick things up quickly.

  • Like most of ignorant comments I see regarding the Canaan Dog, this individual obviously knows nothing about training. The Canaan Dog is no more a mystery to raise and train than any other breed. You must establish a pack order....despite what the morons are now posting about this type of training....is essential. The dog will know its boundaries. Constant socialization, proper nutrition, and no vaccinations will give you a great dog.

  • what dogs are good for first time owners? i would like it to have good health be intellegent? good with dogs, cats and chickens thanks

  • You should look up a breeder in the Canaan Dog club. This is a breed that involves a lot of training and socialization, and are not recommended for first-time owners due to their tendency for aggression. Are you sure your up to it?

  • All that is false information. Canaan Dogs make excellent firs time dogs. They're loyal, good natured and easy to train (though need to be done in small doses due to them getting bored easily). They're very social dogs and don't scare easy. Easy to look after but do cast a lot of hair.

  • Dude, I own a Canaan Dog. He hadn't been socialized or trained correctly by his previous owner. W/o that they are really smart, but are territorial and can be bossy with other dogs and they don't like strangers

  • I too have a Canaan Dog. She was abadoned as a puppy and is still the nicest dog you'll ever meet. She's good natured, well trained and isn't fased by any other dogs, people or other animals. She's been trained very well so of course that has an affect on her behaviour but to say that Canaan Dogs are not good for first time owners is not true. My Canaan was a first time family pet and I can't imagine any other breed being better.

  • I have 3 of them.....they are show champions, have obedience and herding titles, go to schools and homes for the aged, and have helped me teach Rally Obedience classes. The fact that your dog has issues is due to the training and imprinting at a young age. This would happen to any breed. Stop blaming the dog and start blaming the humans that did this to him. You should have recognized that a rescue would have certain issues and prepared for that. Stop beating up the breed !!!!!!!

  • where can i get a canaan dog in the uk
