If you would want to mix it up with software synths and use a hardware synth live, which synth would you pick or which would you suggest for someone who wants to do exactly that?
@MrVeluMusic That would depend greatly upon what sort of music i was playing, and what kind of sounds I needed to utilize during the show. I have never used software instruments "live" - if I played in a band again I would likely get a couple of lightweight keyboards - a Yamaha MO6 for pianos/organs/strings/pads/bells/winds/brass and a Roland Gaia for synth leads, basses, effects, etc.
@MrVeluMusic The Access Virus instruments have always been popular for that genre. Also check out the Nord Lead and Korg Radias. If you have the money, look at an analog synth for bass (Moog LP or Voyager). Dave Smith analogs are a more affordable option.
In my personal opinion, i would never get an 88 key synth, unless they started making 88 keys without the wheighted action. keyboards with wheighted action are strictly for playing classical piano pieces. with synth sounds it limits you. I think im gonna try to save up for a 75 version of this. no weighted keys, but more to work with =]
@Synthesized13 I don't care for weighted action when playing synthesizers either. To me it is just plain weird to play organ sounds and synth leads on something that feels like a piano. I know there are others who disagree, but this is certainly my opinion.
@Synthesized13 I would definitely prefer to have more than 61 keys. But I have been playing 61-key boards for many years now, so I've gotten used to it.
Wow! u got M3 now Wiz! I have one too...fabulous analogue strings in it, I reckon Motif still the bomb though but too much cassshhhh! Good to see you post vids again.
Great demonstrations as always. Your recording technique is really professional but it is your playing that sets you apart. Each demonstration is a lesson in musicianship for those of us with little or no formal training. I am happy to see you have joined the ranks of M3 owners. It is simply the best workstation available, IMHO, not because it exceeds other top end (Motif XS, FantomG, Kurzweil PC3) in everything but because it integrates the technology so completely and inspires the player.
@newpro5657 Thanks for the kind words. I have tons of fun making up these little vignettes for various sounds - they inspire me. And the M3 inspires me as well - I love fiddling with the KARMA parameters, and Korg has created a user-friendly interface that makes real-time tweaking easy and fun.
This is another great M3 demonstration! The audio recording is very good, and you give a great idea of the M3's Combi capabilities. We're looking forward to more.
I watched all your M3 demonstrations. They are great.

@keybdwizrd
Thanks. I was considering the Gaia myself.
I'm playing electronic music mostly, high distortion, and heavy bass.
Well I'm gonna actually get Ableton live that let's you loop clips and launch them at will, but still a synth live would really make a show.
So you'd go with light synths that are easy to carry around, good idea, :/ equipment bulkyness is always a factor.
What synths would you suggest for beginners in my line of heavy electronica?

Wow I never imagined that you could do so much with the XY screen. (Referring to the first combi.) Nice demonstration. You play very well.

im debating on saving up for a 61 key or the 75 version of this, do you feel like 61 limits you at all?

The M3 is an amazing instrument.
The way it adapts to the notes you are playing is mindblowingly cool.
If I could afford one, and had the room, I would definitely buy one!
Also, awesome vid. Been a subscriber for ages, always enjoyed your diverse playing styles :)
