  • "Dieu est un comédien devant un PUBLIC qui a trop peur pour rire" would be the correct sentence in french, not "devant un AUDIENCE".

    But the film is still very good. ;-)

  • Im sorry but you can still say audience in french. It's just a bit more formal than public, that's all.

    The only awkward thing in this sentence is "pour rire" instead of "de rire", which would be more grammatically correct.

  • "Audience" has not the exact same meaning than "public" in french.

    Trust me, the sentence he says sounds very weird to a french ear, and "pour rire" is correct because "pour" shows a kind of consequence the way it is used here.
