  • i know one of the people in the bell stars group, playing trumpet.

  • groovie stuff from the 80's lol nice

  • I´ve still got the 12" inch maxi single and it still sound just as good as ever, i am happy that i bought it back then. :-)

  • Always liked the 'yup yup yup' bit on the backing vocal.

Noticed they didn't do that when they played the song properly live

  • check out 1.42 where the girl behind the other almost drops her sax and spits it out of her mouth ha ha!!!!!!!

  • @carynsian I think you're seeing things.

  • malc , brother you are such a fan

  • Such a great song. Jennie was my first crush as a girl. So much sexy, so much attitude. They make today's girl bands look inspid and anodyne. Loving the ska riff too.

  • @Fionalah The black one right? Well that's my words. This "version 2.0" they did, e. g. with the (basically awesome) "World Domination" tune in '85/'86, wasn't even close without her. The blonde would gaze into the camera as a partly-drugged Nina Hagen (lol), and never got to the level of stage presence (and facial expression) of Jennie. MOREOVER: the initial Belle Stars were a MULTI-RACIAL band; barely "normal" back in '82!

  • has anybody got the video for this..me and my mates went from school to the studios in london when they recorded it...i have never seen it..

  • Omg, I've never seen so many lesberados on one stage, playing music and singing and stuff.

  • @seanr456 Don't be rude.

  • @MaskedMan66 It's only rude if you think that calling someone a lesbian is rude or a bad thing. As I am gay myself, I don't think it is per se a rude or bad thing. One can always be mistaken, of course, but that does not appear to be your contention.

  • @seanr456 My contention is simply don't call somebody something they ain't.

  • The presenter is soooo cool however this song is so terribly catchy, but what drives me wild is this,a ma a ma a memory-WHAAAA thats soooo sexy I think

  • sweet 80s

  • wow, what a voice. Sexy

  • Thanx for post

    Mr.Chip

  • IMO their best record. It's frightening that 26 years on i still know every single word

  • As you say a totally under-rated band from a great time for music.

  • Anyone got a copy of Hot Summer?? Can't find it anywhere

  • Do you mean Indian Summer? I have the video somewhere but will be a long while until I'm able to upload it :( It's a great video featuring a Casablanca theme with a Humphrey Bogart lookalike. SJ is stunning as Lauren Bacall!

  • I knew summer was in it,lol Yes Indian Summer. Brilliant and moody. I do look forward to you uploading it. Is there anywhere else I could find it?? Don't say LimeWire!! 90% viruses 10% failed downloads.

  • has anyone got the original studio video of this?

  • Always loved this song - the production and arrangement was so ahead of its time. Makes you depressed at the mannequins who are around these days....

  • Big time, I agree!

    NOW SUX!

  • if anyone has a video of them performing this on the show get set for summer bbc please get in touch id love to see it as i was in the audience

  • their best track

  • Has anyone got a copy of I think it might be called"Hot Summer"?? I'm sure summer was in the title.

  • Thanks for posting all these wonderful Belle Stars Vids-I am a long time fan.

  • hi do you have the mp3 file of this? if so can i have it? im only 16 but love music form the 50's to 1989 and cant find this on any download sites! my email is davro666 @hotmail[dot]co[dot]uk thanks

  • Fuckin hell i wish these would do a reunion instead of the untalented/can't sing/can't play an instrument/can't write a song 'Shite Girls'

  • Sounds like it was either Ska-coustica or Skaville UK, both of which are great!

  • I saw the Belle Stars twice. The first time supporting the Beat at gloucester leisure centre and the second supporting madness at the same venue a while later. i loved them and wanted to be Sarah Jane she was sooo beautiful. thanks for adding the vids x

  • I saw them in concert once and "appeared" in their Sweet Memory video - they were brilliant! - Jennie's still playing music - check her out on myspace! Glad you enjoyed the vids.

  • Hello, I saw Jennie play with a band in Cheltenham a while ago - at the former Axiom Centre - I have loads of photos of that gig somewhere. I think there were members of other Ska bands in that group although the name of it now escapes me.

  • I always thought they were one-hit wonders with sign of the times but this is truly amazing, I can't stop playing it. That instrumental break with the false re-start is well wicked. Do you know, Mal if anyone has remixed this? It's screaming for it!

  • This is one of my fave's too. I was lucky enough to be in the promo video for this! (well, I was in the audience!) - there is an extended remix available. I know it's blatant "advertising" but check out myspace dot com/malcmc for more belle stars info - i post some rare songs now and again from Jennie Bellestar. Glad you enjoyed the video!

  • Cheers Mal, I will definately track that down. I DJ a lot and this tune will definately be getting worked into a future set. I really can't believe I missed this, thanks so much for bringing it to my attention. Are you friends with Jennie and the girls? They look like really cool people.

  • Just to let you know Mal, thanks to you posting this vid I bought the Belle Stars picture discs singles on ebay for a a fiver! Cheers for re-introducing me to a great band!

  • Cool! There are 9 picture discs altogether including the LP. They released a double CD of all their singles, b-sides, 12"s and album tracks called Belle Issima:Sweet Memories a few years ago - that's a must if you're a fan. Jennie's still doing music and so is Clare. Have you heard the 2005 version of The Clapping Song? That's a great one if you're a DJ!

  • I'm looking for the 12" extended mix of Sweet Memory on vinyl. You can't help me out there can you Mal?

  • I can't remember this one, cheers for posting mal. They look and sound fantastic. Maybe they had a bit too much talent/integrity. Can't imagine them being easily pushed around by a major record company somehow. Great stuff.

  • cool song this forget bananarama these were the first and best all girl group

  • got any pics of what the girls look like now?

  • SHOULD HAVE BEEN HUGE THESE

  • Won't argue with you there!

  • I used to listen to one of their records when I was wee, went like this "gonna turn back the clock tell them how I regret it"

  • Turn Back The Clock - b-side to Mockingbird - They should have released that as the a-side - great song!

  • you pbviously dont get the randomness of the quirky early 80s fashions oozerman what are you 17?

  • This is pretty cool!

  • why are they wearing Blue Jays shirts? Weird!

  • I loved the Belle Stars, who's songs got better and better but their chart placings got worse and worse - and at the time I thought that they'd outlast the equally great Bananarama, who started at the same time.

  • Not one of the greatest songs of the 80s, but it had been enjoyable to watch it again.

  • rubbish

  • Thank you for adding and sharing! I enjoyed looking at this. I remember the song. It brings back fond memories. I added this to my favorites.

  • I love the Belle Stars and this song too!
