  • shoots energy blast out hand at 0:55

  • This has really helped, always keep being caught in side control and have never been shown any submissions, plus it doesn't seem like it takes a great deal of leg flexibility either

  • From here they can do a knee on belly still

  • Submission is money sometimes I fake like im in danger and bammmm!! It works 95% of the time, im 174lbs, ive even got on bigger dudes like 225lbs OSSSS!!!

  • 12 guys got submitted by triangle choke

  • You just blew my mind.

  • is the hand on the hip supposed to prevent him from spinning over your head????

  • guys are going to get a nice suprise at the sparring session ;)

  • ...or you can just hold him in that position and strike away at his face with your left.

  • bjj is applied physics

  • Nice face from 1.26 to 1.46 lol

  • thanks this french guy kept doing this now i can c whats happening 2 me hahaha

  • I like this move, because it gives you a quick finish from a bad spot, without actually spending a lot of energy , and its usable for just catching your breath even if it doesent bring the tap...

There's also a kimura waiting for you if you want it on the top guys left arm after you triangle the legs...

But sometimes, if you're not controling the top-guys hip, and he's quick enough, he can step his left leg over your head, and kind of mess up your finishing move, so you need to stay focused

  • is their any effective hit a sweep from the position if they are defending ?

  • Did this today during sparring with this guy who clearly had more strength. Thanks Submissions101!

  • how much is the dvd gonna cost?

  • @skaterslayer981 it is 29.95

  • The guy getting chocked has a "Fuck my Life" facial expression every time you let the choke go. Lol.

  • thanks alot for this vid, its one of the few ways i can beat dad when we wrestle

  • This helps, I get stuck in side control alot. I'll have to try this one tonight, thanks.

  • GREAT VID!!

I really like how you go step by step and perform the move several times slow and from different angles.

    Great job!

  • This is a TERRIFIC tech. The first time that I saw it was in a judo match about a decade plus ago. Very nice.

  • @ATACXGYM you sir are a fucking liar , fake and a fraud... he doesnt know martial arts he mimics others and tries to pass it off as his own knowledge.. a fucking joke , piece of shit dirtbag stop showing people this fake bullshit claiming you know all these arts.. HAHA! i call bullshit on that and ill kick your fucking ass you old perverted ass predator preying on young girls and the people that dont know kenpo.. i CHALLENGE YOUR WEAK ASS!

  • Dig the videos. Tried this last time I rolled and got my partner.

    Thanks.

  • i used to do this a lot but now everyone blocks one of the legs constantly with me now, need to work out a new set up :(

  • lmao, I use to do this on white belts when I was a white belt...

If a whitebelt or wrestler manages to pass my guard and get into side then I may attempt this... but lets be real. Anyone who know what they are doing will not generally fall into this.

Head sticking up, cross arm not doing anything... no pressure.

Being on top, if my arm does get trapped, the initial response is to try to make a move to free it or bury my head... and getting shoulder pressure on that head.

  • This is a joke, right?

  • I did this in class wednesday good vid man

  • I love this move! I always had to finish with some sort of america/kimora, thanks for the tip on the choke!

  • Thanks for the links buddy. Guess that solves it:-) sorry Ashton, you aren't super human after all :-)

  • @Submissions101

  • @Submissions101

That photo of Ashton Kutcher with De La Riva wearing a black belt is deceiving....he recieved a loaner black belt because he didn't have a belt

  • Awesome. Always good to have another variation.

  • hha ahh the face of the yung grasshopper...priceless// at leasts hes learning it at the same time... jujitsu's the shit

  • Side control down could be a grea postition

  • @Submissions101

Saw the pic on Sher dog too and googled it. He was in Brasil learning a little and borrowed the belt for the pic. Belt wasn't even tied right in the pic. He is NOT a black belt....Not sure if you were being sarcastic but this is how rumors get started.

  • I've always used this as one of my favorite submissions. It works best against wrestlers who are cross training because they like to leave that arm in between the legs for a cradle. Definitely my all time favorite submission from the back.

  • This is a great move! As a few other people have said before, this is quite common in Judo, as its a position that is used a lot on the ground. Once you have the triangle locked in, it is very easy to twist in (keeping your triangle locked), towards your opponent and turn them over, into a triangle + hold down, which is of course, useful for Judo, where you can win by holding down, if somehow your opponent isn't tapping from the triangle.

  • It's veru usefull when someone has you in ‎yoko shiho gatame. I did a plenty of your stuff on my judo trainings, and everybody's asking me where did i learn it? Cause i'm an orange belt, submiting blue belts, and sometime higher. :) But i'm keeping my secret.

    Thanks again for everything!

  • the kids side control is real sloppy i had this done to me once and i got out by putting my left arm behind his neck and and grabbing my other hand making both hands meet like a can opener i turned my head inside his thight so i wouldnt choked out i'll admit it hurt, but my side control helped me not to get in such a vunerable position as the blue belt is doing, this is an excellent technique to use on peolpe who have sloppy side control but it wont be as easy on every opponent. great video

  • @jangalexis360 idk why you say his side control is sloppy, he's just being used for the demonstration..

  • @rampage42 because some people may not realize that detail and its good that people know that when facing an opponent with great side control its really hard to pull this off , this technique is defensive not offensive for that reason. also i think that even though its a demo that side control is really sloppy the blue belts chest is almost on his armpit and proper side control is across the chest and the arm goes under the neneck and the knees go up against the body at the hip and at the armpit

  • @jangalexis360 how is that different for any other technique that is illustrated in any video? if the opponent does THIS better or THAT better it will be harder. when you watch the video you dont expect it to work on EVERYONE in side control you watch it to learn a technique that you MAY be able to apply. though your assessment is correct again its only for demonstration and therefore doesnt matter

  • @rampage42 im just very very keen on sidecontrol technique cant say about the other videos because i havent seen every video i honestly dont know what else i can say about the matter except that my comments are not meant to be negative but informative as a practitioner of jujitsu im not sayin anything but my opinion on this specific video.

  • Saw this in the afternoon and used it the same evening. Haven't seen too many submissions from the bottom of side control. Thanks.

  • i was wondering of an offensive technique i could use from the bottom side-control because the trainers that i'm with teach u 2regain guard 2use the many options from there. But u can't always regain guard, so this will b nice 2end it as quickly as possible. Thanx.

  • Great instruction !!!

  • Sweet Gi Ari

  • When is Red fighting again??? XD

  • literally saw this video today, went to practice tonight, and did it about 3 times. love it, one of my new favorite techniques

  • @23Shainna23 Glad we could help. Roll on!

  • like

  • ashton kutcher does jiu jitsu?!?!

  • i like the videos you make but i always for get to hit the like button. remind people to hit the like button.

  • what if he has head and arm control?

  • ashton kutcher got choked out

  • I liked the video, so important details are in it.

    Well done.

  • I get caught in this a lot when we work cross guard stuff because it's just so easy to slide that choke in. I have to say that it's really important to keep that arm to finish the triangle. It's really hard to finish without it. However you can switch to the bolt cutter by trading legs you figure four (Braulio Estima taught it to my coaches). You can also swim to mount and work a lot more stuff. I'll have to try this set up for it.

  • he looks like ashton kutcher

  • Great video Ari. Keep up the hard work.

  • @grimrlty

    Uhh, that's not Ari.

  • Thanks for the video Ari! Now I have more options than just escapes from side control

  • can you still pull this off if hes got his hands together in gable grip under your armpit

  • I really liked the detail as well as the option to armbar his other arm. Great stuff Ari..

  • man, these new techniques are soooo nice! i've never seen them before! haha taking opponents by surprise with this :) !

  • sweeeeeeeeeeeeet

  • that was beautiful.

  • nice! a 2 in 1

  • nice

  • @Submissions101 Another tip is to kimura the free arm, they usually don't expect that, or vice versa, you can get the side triangle whilst trying to get the kimura.

  • @uXgotXmerked for sure. There are so many options, its hard to cover everything in every single video ;-)

  • @Submissions101 True, just thought i'd say for other users too. I love your channel, keep up the great work!

  • Excellent technique. Love the fact that it's applicable (without tweaking) to no-gi.

  • Looks like that would hurt...

  • Awesome.

  • So since you're putting out another DVD does that mean we get to see more bloopers? :D Love your channel.

  • @Pacopicksstrawberry we should put up a blooper reel again. We've go a few ;-)

  • lol this could almost be on the fail videos if he put him to sleep and was still goin on thinking he was awake haha

  • that grey gi is legitttt. i want one?

  • sweet lock at 1;43. You could always gas him into submission too,but that would be fighting dirty.

  • ashton kutcher? LOL

  • Nice purple belt! :)

  • that dude is about to die lol

  • poor guy, he looked like he was about to go out every time you got it, not even fully locked in.

  • oh wow i never saw this befor but a while ago i had a problem with side control so i kinda invented my own move thats very similar the only diffrence is there hand is behinde my head and that mine is a crank not a choke u just get ur outside leg inbetween your head and theres and pull down with it and they can move cuz there arm is trapped behinde there head.... its kinda hard to explain

  • sick grey gi

  • @WillingToPooNvm they will be for sale in the fall. Submissions 101 Grey Gi: Armor Edition.

  • Good stuff as always!!!!

  • Here is an option if you do not want to grab onto the collar (like the leg choke see previous video). The triangle choke. Thanks to all the Submissions 101 subscribers. Keep on Rolling!

  • @Submissions101

Thanks for showing this Ari, this was my response to someone asking about the no-gi version of the collar/leg choke in the previous video. :)

  • @dlogic22 yes, I recall. When we recorded this series, I anticipated that question so we recorded this option as well. Just keep them coming....be well!

  • @Submissions101 during the set up when you put one arm through the leg there is a way to perform a key lock of some sort on the other arm, ive had it done to me, but i dont really know how to get the leverage to finish it, can you show how?

  • @Submissions101 if caught in this, what would be the most efficient way of escaping? try to walk into a north south position?

  • @beatlesrule18 I wish I added that option but when your partner does this, you can grab their far leg and throw it over your body and roll. You will end up ON TOP with the triangle still in place. Not a great place to be ;-)

  • @Submissions101 im gonna have to start trying this, i use a lot of your videos of your less common subs in my sparring, works a lot! thanks for the uploads!
