  • if free speech wasn't supposed to offend anyone then there would be no such thing as swear words. That is for that girl that was saying that sometimes you have to open your mouth. Ryan Sorba should have been allowed to speak. After all after the lesbians chased him off the stage they were awarded with a pro-homosexuality video.

  • @justtoexercise

What video are you referring to? I'm surprised you had time to check this out in between episodes of Sara Palin's "Alaska".

  • "You can't let people get away with that"

The "that" in this case is speech.

I wonder what they think of the "Tea Party" movement. Of course calling the Smith "ladies" teabaggers would be hateful and sexist. Gotta love the hypocrisy.

I've read the comments that you've left in the past and I thank you for investing the time and effort.

I have minor issues with your diction and tone- you come across as being a little hostile. But, you're in your right; even if your language is somewhat incongruous with the spirit of decency, maturity and civility that you very wisely pleaded for only six months ago.

I hope you keep posting comments- I'd like to think that you're helping further the discourse.

  • My hostile diction and tone? I have a very, very long way to go before I even approach some of the hostility of your average campus protester. But thanks for the note.

  • It's not just any kind of speech.

Your misunderstanding of Lisa's opinion may stem from my inability to adequately clarify her point of view in this segment, and for that I apologize.

Do keep in mind that, though we worked terribly hard on this, we still consider it a roughcut.

However, what I had hoped would be clear from Lisa's inflection, tone, and expression, is that she was in fact referring to harmful speech- the kind that tauntingly singles out a specific group of people.

  • "Lesbian" is spelled with a "s" not a z. Not a prerequisite (one word by the way, how ironic), but all sexual orientations are welcomed. Assholes like yourself however, should probably stay in trade school making fan belts. Have a blessed and gay day!

  • @777GJ No u don't HAVE to be a lesbian but it would certainly look good on ur application, since sexual orientation is all that colleges would care about (it is a question under the demographics section of the application for admission for Smith. There are only 2 options to choose from & unfortunately u can only pick 1, they are: -lesbian or -ugly. Basically if you don't identify as a lesbian then u shouldn't even bother applying bc Smith college really cares about how u look and who you date.

  • @SchrodingersPet

Spoken as someone who has received AT LEAST one Smith rejection letter.

  • @actionvixen I was being sarcastic by the way.. I guess I should stop being sarcastic online..

TOTALLY didn't mean to be offensive to you... I was trying to tell that guy that Smith doesn't really care about how you look or how you identify as. And I was also trying to tell him/her that the people who identified as lesbian/queer on this video where the opposite of "ugly" (thus -lesbian or -ugly) I love Smith and I'm planning to apply as a transfer. But again, I'm sorry if it seemed that I was

  • @actionvixen being a prick. I absolutely love Smith. In fact, I thanked you for your videos on your channel page..thing.

  • I had no real sense of Smith until seeing the "protest" of Ryan Sorba. It really bothers me because most people who saw that remarked on the courage of this guy to walk into that wall of hate alone.

With people who deeply offend me, I make the effort to research the topic and question the person in a way to make their arguments fall apart with facts. This could have been done. The "protesters" were unwilling or unable to do that. A mature, decent and civil response must be the way forward.

  • Why is protest and protesters in quotations? Are you insinuating that these protesters and the protest itself are imaginary?
