You are again comparing a pop singer to a soprano. Not everyone likes opera, but I still wish the next singer would sing the old songs as they should be sung. And I'm pretty sure they will.
Why do people defend these ghastly vocals? It's nothing against Anette. There are plenty of wonderful people in this world who can't sing "Wishmaster". It's strange that millions of people know these vocals are terrible, and many of others just defend them out of pity. Is that what music is about?

its like i said before, it's Tuomas fault. he wrote the songs to work for Tarja's operatic style and failed to recognize this when he picked Annette. even the new songs still show he has not adapted to the change.

I love how the chorus sounds. Some notes were a bit off, but all in all, I think Anette did a fabulous job on this song. Perhaps the reason that people are so quick to say she's bad is because she is actually rather GOOD and they're threatened because she is on par with Tarja. Anette is singing perfect these days. This song is better song. The concerts of Wacken 2008, Ahoy Rotterdam and Grazpop Metal Meating are way better than the first live concerts. She is doing a great job last half year.

Well, I would prefer if Tarja had stayed in NW, but now there's nothing we can do about it. Actually, I think some of the old songs sound pretty good with Anette singing them, but surely they do not compare to the original. Anyway, it's a new era for NW, and I like the DPP with Anette :P When I miss Tarja I just watch the End of An Era DVD and FWTE, and all is good again ^^

I've got to say...Annette is WONDERFUL singing her own songs. But for the old school Tarja songs, she has a lot of trouble, and she just...well, she should stick with the songs that were written for her. But come on, Nightwish can't be Nightwish performing only their new stuff, can they? Annette is amazing after seeing them live twice I think "Tarja who?" Annette is no Tarja but comparing them is like comparing Marco and Emppu's instruments they are both different. Some of their old songs they have kind of reworked to better fit her voice like the Siren.
Anette should and must sing the old songs, she's part of the band now, and she is giving the old songs right justice with a new attitude.

This is from a show Nightwish did a while ago. Listening to more recent performances I think Anette nearly perfected singing this song...she isn't as good here but she's gotten pretty much 100% better.

Yes, Nightwish truly isn't Nightwish without Tarja (although I think tarjas little opera singing sucks). Tarja was in nightwish for longer and the songs were designed for her opera singing. And don't take your anger out on Annete, because it was tarja's choice to leave. Annete's songs like Bye Bye Beautiful and Amaranth are made for her. If tarja came along and sang those, they'd suck too. It's just how the songs are made, and for who they are made for.

Tuomas letter is his vision of the things and Its hard to believe that one day Tarja was a "lovely girl" and another day she was the devil.
Only all of them know all the words and situations when they were said. There are no angels or devils, people aren't perfect and of course isn't Annette's fault the way they dismissed Tarja. I Wish the best to both Nightwish and Tarja!

Annette is amazing after seeing them live twice I think "Tarja who?" Annette is no Tarja but comparing them is like comparing Marco and Emppu's instruments they are both different. Some of their old songs they have kind of reworked to better fit her voice like the Siren.

This is from a show Nightwish did a while ago. Listening to more recent performances I think Anette nearly perfected singing this song...she isn't as good here but she's gotten pretty much 100% better.

it's sad they have to playback the "opera" beginning of this song.. they either should perform the song complete like Anette sings it and leave the opera style out or they should completely stop playing the old songs (at least Ever Dream and Wishmaster)... Yes, Nightwish truly isn't Nightwish without Tarja (although I think tarjas little opera singing sucks). Tarja was in nightwish for longer and the songs were designed for her opera singing. And don't take your anger out on Annete, because it was tarja's choice to leave. Annete's songs like Bye Bye Beautiful and Amaranth are made for her. If tarja came along and sang those, they'd suck too. It's just how the songs are made, and for who they are made for.
