in the words of a gun shop owner if you buy a kimber 1911rust bucket...Do not look at the barrel or it will rust. Do not touch the barrel or it will rust, Do not think about the barrel or it will rust. Do not carry the kimber 1911 because it will rust, then he said wait look what just walked in(a shipment of kimbers 4 to be exact) pulled them all out and from the factory all of them had rust on the barrel just from shipping. Never will i ever buy a kimber. got a sig 1911 no rust ever.

That Kimber like most of their models DOES NOT have a stainless steel barrel, it's untreated carbon steel.

Im pretty sure that milspec do not have a guide rod. Also the A/C in your car removes moisture from the air in the car. The condensation usualy gathers on the condencer(typicaly under the hood) so if there is a lot of moisture in your glove box as in enough to rust your gun you may want to have that looked at that would be enough to ruin most peoples papers that are ususaly stored there.

Mother's will protect quite well against humidity caused rust in steel in my experience - you should take the gun down and do the whole barrel...

Correct me if I am wrong but A/C doesn't put out humidity isn't it even a sort of dehumidifier since they say that if your car interior is wet that you should run the A/C on full blast. I too have a Kimber that had a few rust issues at first but got it under control.

a thin coat of of some clp or even lubriplate grease will keep it from rusting. considering how you carry i would say just use a lil bit of that grease and it wouldnt do that

I have an ultra carry 2 and a product I have found works great is flitz polish. I take it to the whole gun then oil after. Works great for me I have been carrying it and shooting it for over three years now and no failures ever. Good info in ur vid I will pass it on to my friends

kimber barrels are not stainless, they are carbon steel in the white. thats why they rust easy. i have a ultra carry II it rust all the time, it drives me nuts. but my problems are bigger than the rust, it ftf's all the time. i can't trust it. it's going.

I looked at my friends Kimber today and the barrel was all rusted. He didn't have the stainless barrel and never took care of it. I think it will come off though.

I dont know about everybody else but i'd be pissed if my $1500 gun started to show any kind of rust. none of my pistols rust and they were all a fraction of the cost and not one jam from thousands of rounds.

Yeah, But I give you all the good along with the bad here on my channel, and this is the only bad I ever experienced, and is easily fixed with a little dab of mothers chrome polish. All Kimbers are known to do this. Also remember I keep this pistol where moisture from the A/C is hitting it constant, until I exit the vehicle.

@155Millimeter Air conditioned air actually has less moisture in it than normal atmospheric air does. The refrigeration cycle actually removes humidity from the air. This is why the defrost mode on your car enables the compressor if you have one.

@Reapers261 I got ahold of Kimber and they sent me a brand new barrel with a protective coating that was better than the factory one and I didn't have to pay a dime for it. So it probably is better off to buy a gun from somewhere other than Walmart so that you have a real company backing your warranty.

Not sure if you heard, but the other day a British sniper killed 2 terrorists at 1.54 miles with his .338 LM Accuracy International rifle.

He currently now holds the record for longest kill with a sniper rifle and he literally killed them one right after the other.

Crazy stuff and really shows you what the .338 LM is capable of.

Please don't think I'm busting any balls cause I'm not, but from what I know about metallurgy, Lower or cheaper grades of stainless steel rust. You can also tell a lower grade of stainless steel by putting a magnet to it. A cheaper grade will be magnetic because of a higher steel/iron content. Higher grades will not be magnetic and will not rust due to a higher nickel content. Just my two cents about the metal. Sweet pistol 155, wish I could afford one :)

I've put 400 rounds target ammo thru her so far one jam only. And that is unlike Kimbers, usually you have multiple jams before the first 500 rounds. These Hollow points cycle great, I went thru a box of them already.

I still have an "Itac defense" Polymer holster. It has no effect on the Kimpro finish. I usuall have to scrub the black marks off the Kimpro finish, because the holster wears and makes marks on the Kimpro. But I will do an updat soon to show the Carry finish wear on my Kimber.
