I am surprised to see some comment about Lataji's voice. Its true that her voice has changed but it is still very sweet. U cant expect her to sing the same way in at the age of 70+ the way she used sing in her youth. As far as this song is concerned she has sung it perfectly with true emotions. I too agree that over a period of more than half-a-century, great Lataji's voice has changed. But I don; t think its an unpleasant change. I can still experience the depth, dard and melody in her voice. Even at 80, she can surpass many established singers. She is really a Bharat Ratna. I request critics to listen to her (original version) on a good music system and comment. Still not agree then go for ear testing.

I'm a great fan of Lataji, don't get me wrong. But someone who has heard her older songs so religiously, can tell how bad her voice has gotten over the yrs. Songs from movies like Henna, Veer Zara, Mujhse Dosti Karoge, and so on, her voice had gotten really croaky. Take this one for instance, such a beautiful composition and lyrics, her yelling and screaming don't do any justice to it at all. If you really think this screachy voice suits a young budding actress like Zeba, you're in total denial.
