What would've happened if there was a single person or group of like minded individuals who had the strength, mental acuity and will power to convince the clans to put aside their feuds and unite? What a powerful force could be raised. An entire nation of warriors, not just some clans or some lords marching against the invader.

And just because no real reference to the kilt is made until the late 16th century, doesn't mean it never existed. Just like how denim has been around since the middle ages, but in the future, people will probably think that the bluejeans were the first ever garment to use it...

So why have you got plaids in the 1400's. And who are the highlanders fighting? Also if he had a good grasp of history did he not have something to say about the costume, even if it was plaid wearing highlanders at this time the costume is completely wrong.
the costumes are totally wrong for the period as are the enemies. However, it was made as a bit of fun on location with another seperate project 8 YEARS AGO! As stated a bit of fun you should try having some from time to time.
Agh but as people portraying History in an educational manner do you not feel that people who have seen you do other things, such as your performances at schools, and take this as being accurate. Im only concerned because the amount of reenactment groups who do things wrong is huge. We have historians who helped us develop accurate educational packs with activity sheets for the pupils. There has never been a more concise acount provided. And I woulod like to point out we are not re enactors. That is an area we dont spend time on. We are too busy. look up the clanranald webite see our projects
the film braveheart is anti-english, and is a typical mel gibson/hollywood fairy tail attempt to tell history. It even makes up facts (Wallace was killed years before the queen gave birth so it couldn't have been his).
It deals with the American view of the world about "fighting for freedom", but the Socts who fought for Wallace had no freedom even when they won - they were peasants in a feudal system. Even at Culloden, men were forced to fight and die for their master's desires.
Oh and by the way, we as a group visit over three hundred schools a year worldwide, and are building a fortified village, wit the help of HISTORIANS and ARCHEOLOGISTS to keep us right. What do you do??
