I remember Hearing This For the First Time, and It Just Never Seazes To Give Me That Bang,Everytime I hear Something New in this Song, and Thats Because This Man Was a Guitar GOD!!!!!!!!!!He Has Left His Mark on The World Of Blues,Rock and Roll, and World music,Inspiring ENTIRE GENERATIONS.
Bloomfield had the "tone".- knew the blues. I saw him i n Vancouver in the early 70's. Another that fell to to soon. Check out when Carlos replaces him in the live super session blues stuff,. Carlos plays the blues.
A true one-of-a-kind. It's so sad that his life was cut short. I often try to imagine what he would be playing today if he had survived. I'm 62 and grew up in the bay area so I got to see him in his heyday. What a talent.
to whoever said"loser river p;heonix" bloomfield and p;heonix did amazing things to celebrate and ap;preciate. you on the other hand havent. from me and all the other junkies out there, step; off and go fuck yourself asshole.
@sylicone221 You go on all the Bloomfield posts, and say the same stupid thing. You're obviously a no talent, wannabe guitar player who is frothing in jealousy. Would love for you to post some of your guitar playing, so all us Bloomfield fans could have a good laugh.
Touched by the Gods....that's a good way to put it. There were many guitarists who were considered great but not "touched by the Gods". Page, Morse, Blackmore, etc. A few however, were. Clapton, Hendrix, Winter, Bloomfield. All untouchable...
Being "touched by the Gods" is such a misleading statement. Like any of those players were playing this way out of the gate. If "touched by the Gods" means "Put in a ton of fucking work and shows" than yeah....they were "touched by the Gods". The only difference between the greats and the not so greats is the greats have two things always happening: 1.) A relentless pursuit of who they are...and are not afraid to voice it and 2) they always have a guitar in their hands.Thats it
After The Electric Flag went to shit, kooper just called mike up one day and said, "hey wanna jam?" This was on the fly and they just jammed at Kooper rented studio house. Amazing. Mike was very paranoid that day as he thought he had gangrene an ingrown toe, note the picture his right big toe. Mike even called it a scam of a record. love how he hated the spotlight
The First concert I went to was in the mid-'60's at Town Hall in New York it was the Paul Butterfield Band with Mike Bloomfield and Elvin Bishop. I can only vagually remember much but I do remember the screaming guitar litteraly screaming a Tele through a Twin. Yes the drugs took him and its a tragedy that so few of the younger generations are familiar with his genius.
there is a biography of mike made up of quotes of all the people that new him It is a wonderful look into this sweet intelligent master of blues guitar
Mike was the best guitarist I ever saw (his tone appealed to me the most!). I saw him with Roger Troy on vocals around 74, and also at Winterland, SF. 30 years gone and his wonderful presence is missed deeply. Please see this awesome page:
bloomfield is one of those few guitarists who can just rip a solo over entire songs and still manage to keep the tune damn interesting to listen to. Just wish he had of lasted longer and put out more stuff.
Believe it or not I bought this vinyl back in 1969 or 1970 and I still have it! Gathering dust until today when I came across this song on Youtube. Wow, brings back memories. Those were the days my friends!
really, he's still playing .... rock-n-roll never dies ..... he left his mark here for eternity'...when i listen ...is as if he is still playing.....

Most blues guitarists are melodic OR mean. Mike is both all at once.

Mike... at his best was the best. But he wasn't always at his best. Mike put out some pretty crappy stuff when he was all f*cked-up on drugs.
