I think some people forget Yngwie comes from a time and place where he didn't have youtube, internet or even half the resources we have. He pioneered a new style and really took sweep picking up a few notches. He would have worked most of most of what he learned by ear - so I expect he thinks other people should do that, rather than just ask for it slower.
Just listen to his first album, bare in mind the time of release and his age - he was epic.

That's is why i hate malmsteen, he is just a show off, he doesn't have fun on what he does, and i watch his videos to confirm every time my teory, he sucks, he can sweep over a scale all day long if he wants, so what? can he play blues? can he play a melody without going nuts with the arpeggios? NO, he can't, because he is a robot playing guitar, no soul, no feeling.

Listen to his 3 first albums, moron. NOWAYDAYS he is like that, "speed only". But he was a godlike guitarist in the 80s, and NOT only speedwise.

he can play blues...search for it and u'll find the video....and u are right that he is a big showoff (he have skills to do that) and his solos are now too predictable. same stuff from rising force to perpetual flame...i have this dvd from which this clip is taken from and its a waste of money as he is too fast all the time
