I'm singing this is and I having trouble making it sound more like a lullaby rather than an aria (since that is not the intention of the song.) You have done a great job of making it sound beautiful and free-flowing like the intentions of the lyrics, so I am using your interpretation to try and shape mine :) Thank you for uploading this beautiful piece.
@cookiemonster8371251 me 2 did u sing it in first methodist church because thats where i performed it with the director and assistant named mr.brown it was awsome
I recommend the performance of Dietrich FIscher-Dieskau or other native speaker of German for the language aspect. Good luck! It is a beautiful song:)
Like melodies it moves Gently through my mind, Like flowers in Spring it blooms, And drifts in like perfume; Though when the word comes and grabs it And leads it before my eyes, Like ghostly fog it blanches And disappears like a breath. And even so there rests in rhyme Well-buried a perfume, That softly from a quiet bud Is called by a teary eye.
Thank you very much for your comment! Unfortunately, I do not know Hungarian but I will try to get someone to translate it for me. I have always loved this most beautiful song by Johannes Brahms:)
It's not Hungarian, it's German. It's a beautiful song. I'm singing it in my voice lesson this semester (I'm a sophomore in college, vocal performance major). Jessye, and also, Marilyn Horne, are two voices I'm supposed to listen to. Thank you for posting this.
Oh - I meant the note from mistyfairy breeze!! [I think it's in Hungarian!]. Yes, of course I know the song is in German ;)Thank you so much for your comment - good luck in your performance activities :)
Hi Olia! It is melancholic, I guess. I was thinking more "wistful" - it's just there hovering around in my mind sometimes;) Glad u enjoyed it:) Brahms - how did he come up w/this?? -b xx

Und dennoch ruht im Reime Verborgen wohl ein Duft, Den mild aus stillem Keime Ein feuchtes Auge ruft;
Den mild aus stillem Keime Ein feuchtes Auge ruft;
