I'm fine with people stating their opinions as long as they aren't dumb. If you never watched football until around 2001, at least try not to make it obvious. Sheesh.
You got that right, people assume Montana was great because of Jerry Rice. Some people who say they know football either started watching it during the early 2000's or have no clue what there talking about.

Not exactly big name receivers that you can make the excuse that he had a lot of help. Joe was a great passing QB pure and simple if anything HE made mediocre receivers look great. And yes Marino was a very good pure passing QB but never pulled it out in the big games that is true. Farve? best? no! Not even in the top 10.

@arkoe310 Keena Turner was a second year player (thus, breaking in with Montana). @arkoe310 Indeed. In fact, Joe Montana achieved two Super Bowl wins without Jerry Rice, John Taylor, Brent Jones, and Tom Rathman. It's almost amusing how many individuals forget this just as Boomer Esiason and Phil Sims also have.

Thanks for posting, great memories seeing Joe. Oh and just for the record for those of you that don't know any better, Joe passed for nearly half his total yards with the Niners and two of the Super Bowl wins before they ever drafted Rice in 85. It was a great time to be a fan as you knew Joe was going to win most of the time and could come back at any time. The great quote from SB XXIII by Collingsworth after they scored to go ahead was "I looked up and knew we left too much time for # 16."
Marino was amazing, but not much of a "big" player without any big playoff games or superbowls to position him in front of Montana. For that reason, Montana is still on top of Marino as well.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Montana sucked. He just had dynamic widereceivers.Imagine Marino with Rice.He would have probably had over 550+ td's at the end of his career not 420tds.

I wasn't really into the music so I turned it down. But the video was great! These same idiots who are running around saying Brady is the greatest ever have the same stupid mentality as those punks who were saying "Joe who?" after Steve Young finally won a Super Bowl with the 49ers. Joe is the measuring stick for all the others. Cause he's the best.

You are so right!!! Brady is nothing compared to Monatana! Young is good but not as good as Montana!
