People make the water level out to be a lot harder than it really is. You still did much better than I did, though. I usually have to switch to a third Turtle before it's over.

Yes. in the beginning its difficult to record the video with the in-game recorder because the game changes the "states" of the enemies and obstacles as you pause it, so when you reload the game to reproduce the recorded video, it will be "offset", e.g, replaying your recording might give you a box of Ninja-Stars that you didnt get at gameplay, and from that point, all your actions with your weapon will be done with Stars, which don't have up-attack, so your recording is damaged.

I remember when I played this game many years ago the last jump (before the water level) was so hard it took me a million tried (ok maybe quite a few ) and when I finally did it the lights went out- we had a black out!

I'm with you Chuck (about the strange enemy designs). My guess, the game is made in Japan where they don't know the characters. So they just make the main characters and then the rest are just like, "Hey, how about a flame guy?" "Sure, throw him in there!"

I read it was based on a manga of the turtles. I don't know if one existed before the cartoon though.

Games were so much more memorable then. Many NES era music I still remember til this very day. Sure there are some great games now, but nothing compares the all the memories, gamplay, games and music the NES had. The Super Nintendo is second best... After the N64, games just got lost. They all look alike nowadays...

I actually liked this game the best out of all the TMNT games. The ones similar to the arcade one were good, but this one let you change turtles anytime you wanted, and also access to other weapons than the regular ones, and also more challenges. Think about it: what other TMNT games gave you a mission underwater? none that I can think of.

I get sick of people trashing this game. This was a big, BIG part of my life in '89 and '90. I have a lot of great memories, my friends. A lot of people say it sucks because it's hard, but the "Ninja Gaiden" games are hard, too, but does it mean they suck? No, and neither does this.

But you did a splendid job on beating the game, on 8-bit i only survived to the lvl after swimming, and on the Nes I got to the dark part only and thats with cheats!!

So you beat me big time. Its 1 of my favourite games though

his weapon hit is very low. his weapon range is very low. Contraire to raphs, who can hit short but hits hard.

supposedly Mike's weapon damage doubles when he's below half health, making his weapon in that situation as strong as donatello's. He still lacks the range of either Leo on Donatello, though. It's been so long since I played this game I don't remember if the above is true or not.

Yes the weapons change powers, but it is usually with 2 squares left of energy.

I really like this NES game, but that may be because I don't know or care about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and so have no complaints about it matching comics or cartoons. I thought it was a lot of fun. I notice you use Mike in the water for the bombs... it's the only use he has! ;-)
