This turned a bad week into a great weekend. So soothing and beautifully done with passion and technique. Love this guy. Raw cartoons was the start of something special.
wow.. an adult swim bump brought me here :P .. i always loved flylo but i hadn't gotten anything new since "LA." this is definitely my new favorite but i still love "Roberta Flack"
u kno..ive noticed...NOBODY ever remixes flylo's muzik...not Daedelus, tokimonsta, rustie, nobody.....and its beacuse what the hell is there to remix? its already dope..and even if u tried, when u get the link to his song after copyright permission and youll look at it and be like wtf!? First time I heard this song was coming back from a commercial break on [adult swim] fell in love with the ten seconds I did hear of it. Flying Lotus creates such wonderful music.
@HarderThanPearlite Cosmogramma has carried me through so many quizzes/midterm/final study sessions for my Physics/Calculus/Intro to Aerospace classes that whenever I listen to the music it reminds me of engineering. But I still love it. The album is dope!
@arcticvultures Reso is great. Lots of nods to geek culture, but fucking SICK bass regardless. Skrillex is the go-to dub producer probably, if you haven't already heard of him. Also, check-out Noisia for DnB/heavier/faster electronics -- their album Split the Atom is a good place to start. Any style in particular you're looking for other than dub?
and i am just expressing an opinion, so its okay to disagree, and i hope it doesnt offend anyone. i just feel that in a perfect world, music and business would have nothing to do with eachother, and everybody would be able to enjoy real authentic art whether they are rich or poor. also in a perfect world, fans would be able to thank the artists for their work if they felt compelled by it... this could be by either donating, going to their shows, sharing the music or spreading the word, etc.
@arcticvultures well im not trying to be rude either, and i dont know what you mean by "his good people list" but i will be happy to give you recommendations if that is what you want.. ive taken a time to really explore electronic music and i think i am fairly in touch with what is out there. but try to specify a little, or give me some details about what exactly you are looking for. i have recommendations coming out of my ass and it would be too much and too broad to just start throwing at you
@arcticvultures what is the point of that comment, are those your favorite artists? what the fuck man, nobody in the electronic music world even uses the world "electronica"... deadmau5 and tiesto are like the backstreet boys and brittney spears of electronic music. i used to listen to daft punk back in the 90's, cant really hate on them too much, but as a favorite artist in 2011? you need to stop giving in to mainstream hype and dig deeper my man. that list is just offensive (except for flylo)
I'm a noob music producer and I've had music pirated from me. Ultimately I decided that $0.99 isn't worth a fraction as much as a fan.
Think of *famous* musicians out there, and think of all the money they make. But do they have real fans? Do they have people who appreciate them for their music, or just because they're whoever? We real music fans, we appreciate FlyLo for his insight, for his talent, for his emotions, for his music. Love & appreciation are worth more than all the $ in the world.
@Nathalian989 There was an interview Flylo gave around the time the record out when he was talking about his mother dying. While she was in the hospital, he sat there with her and recorded every single sound in the room. Flylo: "I never wanted to forget that space." The next track, "Galaxy in Janaki", is his dedicated to her. Janaki was a name Aunt Alice gave to his mother. I know it's a long shot, but that's definitely a respirator. Since the album is largely about her, I only assumed.
well add a womans voice and the boys in this band find some order... the boys in Brazil, Ecuador and Bolivia have been doing this music for 5 to 7 years... this california guy must have gone down there... the only thing i really love about the cd is this song, the artist who made the cd cover and the names of the songs, the music is continually filled with incessant noises that you are more irritating than pleasant.
Theres no need to be sad. This is kinda like free promotion. This song might cause someone to buy the album, like me. I like hearing the album before I buy it. I made a terrible waste of 20 dollars one time (Incubus Make Yourself), and it kinda scared me from buying before trying.
I didn't buy his music... But I did spread his work around, & believe me, that's how it was done with cassette players, too. That was also "stealing"...
Now, it's digital. I support him by going to his shows :)
@TyRYANasaurus I understand that people need to make money of the music they produce, but if it wasnt for youtube... I doubt I would have ever known who flylo is. So thank the people that introduced flyflo to me. AND I do plan on buying looooooots of his music. Nobody can make a living without advertising, and what better way to advertise than youtube?
Been reading earlier comments about uploading music to YouTube. Maybe this isnt the case for every one but i ended up buying two FlyLo albums BECAUSE i saw them on here (Los Angeles and 1984). I'd never heard of the guy until i saw him on YouTube. Theres a flip side to every coin but in my (humble) opinion YouTube is free advertising for artists and if you like their music enough you'll end up buying it regardless.
@eraseragenda Wrong. I didnt want to put it on YouTube but I thought I'd go ahead and do it anyway that's what the whole fuss is about. Nice spelling though
@TheCommanderEddy That's the beauty of the internet, in many ways it's timless. But top marks for awareness. And thanks for your comment, even though I wasn't speaking to you.
if this wasnt uploaded i wouldnt have heard it and gone brought it. i need the mp3 on itunes to work sweet on my fukin iphone. so thanks peeps for bringing this magic to me x
@adbeglad Took the words right out of my mouth. Anyone who whinges about a bit of free advertising is three quarters crazy in my opinion. I'm starting to lose count of how many artists ive bought music from BECAUSE i heard them on here first.
@bmurray1757 damn dude. that was good. this may be the musical equivalent of blasphemy but i kind of liked it more than the original. just imo, if you gave it more of a bassy-er feel then i think it would be sheer gold.
Everybody's albums are getting leaked this year. Cosmogramma & Thank Me Later apparently got leaked, I wouldn't be surprised if We Are LASERS got leaked just like Food & Liquor did 6 years ago. And this is my take on leaked albums, it's okay to download the leaked versions AS LONG AS YOU BUY THE ALBUM ONCE IT COMES OUT! Then at least the artists can make their money.
...very nice...flying lotus...daedelus...2 pree amazing beat makers...maybe some of the best out in the 21st century...sounds like the lead singer of stereolab...def sounds like samples from that group...ping pong sounds are dubstepish...overall, reminds me of an organic mutation of a burial track...cheers!

@1anonymous12007 i think its true that album sales aren't what makes the most money for an artist, and i also agree that going to see him live is a great way to support him. but i want to throw my personal belief out there and say that an artist shouldn't be relying on music to "eat" or survive. that, in my opinion, is what has been killing music. you dont make music to make money, you make music to make music. it should come from your heart and be natural, rather than made as a product to sell.
dont be sad, this is precisely how albums are promoted via the web. album leaks are crucial to the process. i've dl'd most of it and still plan to buy the whole album. so please, pretty please, stop fucking crying music noob.
@indexppeuc With regards to the debate on uploads in the comments of this video, I'd just point out that if it wasn't for uploads such as these I never would of heard of Flying Lotus. Now, if I go into a music store there is a chance I will look to see if there is anything there. I'm sure that goes for a few of the other 51, 139 listeners.
@indexppeuc I think as an artist in this day and age, you have to accept that your album will leak. It goes through too many hands before hitting shelves. I would be sad if it leaked 6 months before release. But now, especially with most peopel haveing a bad quality leak, I think it serves as a hype generator. I haven't DL'd it yet (and would if I could) so these Youtube vids are great to hype me up about the album.
@Colunga210 They are doing an amazing job of keeping it off file sharing websites. Real good job. But yeah now that you mention it, it does serve as a good promotional tool. Speaking of promotion tools, it wouldnt suprise me if artists do this purposely.
@indexppeuc Agreed. These local artists put alot of time and effort and dont make as much money as mainstream producers. Support local artists !Buy their stuff!
This has been in my head for a week. I think I died and went to heaven,

dont be sad, this is precisely how albums are promoted via the web. album leaks are crucial to the process. i've dl'd most of it and still plan to buy the whole album. so please, pretty please, stop fucking crying music noob.

@marketellica Shush ya mush. I'll still buy it aswell. I felt sorry for Flying Lotus is all. He was pretty pissed off.

It's all good. So don't worry, be happy.

why are you sad?
00smpl00 1 year ago
@00smpl00 Because of the leak. I can't imagine how heartbreaking it is for an artist to see his album leaked.
indexppeuc 1 year ago
@indexppeuc I think as an artist in this day and age, you have to accept that your album will leak. It goes through too many hands before hitting shelves. I would be sad if it leaked 6 months before release. But now, especially with most peopel haveing a bad quality leak, I think it serves as a hype generator. I haven't DL'd it yet (and would if I could) so these Youtube vids are great to hype me up about the album.

@Colunga210 They are doing an amazing job of keeping it off file sharing websites. Real good job. But yeah now that you mention it, it does serve as a good promotional tool. Speaking of promotion tools, it wouldnt suprise me if artists do this purposely.
indexppeuc 1 year ago
@indexppeuc Yeah a whole bunch of artists leak tracks intentionally to build hype, it seems like a pretty good idea to me.

@indexppeuc Agreed. These local artists put alot of time and effort and dont make as much money as mainstream producers. Support local artists !Buy their stuff!
