Why do so many Christians get angry when they have a different belief than another Christian? They use all CAPS and sometimes call names. They tell the person they are headed for Hell and God will judge them. Why not love and state your case but do it in a graceful way? It's no wonder so many people don't want anything to do with Christianity. Jesus is amazing but His followers, not so much.
@LuciferOnWheels yep, and a cross above a grave was the only thing to tie the rope too, so he tied a rope to it and went and got the man in the hole because he thought out his own morals, and decided to be a good person because it feels good for reasons humans may not fully yet understand.
The fallacy starts in the first sentence. Who said the man was in a hole? Religion creates the problem, convinces people of it, and then offers the solution. See how this video uses music and makes it all glorious when Jesus comes? Pure deception, appealing to emotions. It's sad people try to convince people they are in a hole, when they're not.
@u2bMonkey Jesus is the truth and it is good to know Jesus. You must first be willing to learn in order for you to understand. i prayed for you so that somehow in someway you get to know Jesus. He is the son of God, and nobody goes to the father (god) if its not through the son (Jesus). This is not a matter of debate or prove. This is not a matter of religion, in fact, a lot of people who are Christians and are "religious" will perish because it is not a religion that takes you to the kingdom.
@dann05 I agree that Jesus is the Way to the Father, if His teachings are understood rightly. But the belief that without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sin, is incorrect and absurd. In the Tao Te Ching, Laozi shows the Way into the Kingdom. It's by becoming centered in the Tao, by being simple, open, empty, accepting, etc. Like Laozi, Jesus was a man who realized his union with the Father/Tao, and pointed the way into that union, which is by abiding centered in the Way.
@u2bMonkey You posted a comment a month ago talking about Jesus and how he didn't need to shed blood to save us, but if you think about it, every sin that we do, in reality takes us to death, so Jesus came to take our charge of death and sin away, so he needed to take that punishment in order to set us free from sin and Death. But dont worry Jesus Christ Knew what he was doing, he knew that if gave his life, he would be saving many from true death of the soul in HELL.
This right here is ignoring many positive teachings of different belief structures, it is pretty funny how biased it is. Also it's more focused on being metaphorical than anything. For example one religious belief that teaches reincarnation is Taoism would teach to help the person out of the hole....
@Vottaro not only because it has the potential to create an ally but also because someone who suffers not to have food, not to have water and many other thing people tend to take for granted tend to gain an enlightenment that betters people to have by stating the importance and true beauty of those things taken for granted.
@Vottaro When things normally taken for granted cease to be taken for granted, their purity is guarded and preserved. Think of water, the water in many places throughout the U.S. have a number of dangerous industrial wastes in it because people took it for granted, did not give it proper respect and did not see it in an enlightened many portraying it as beautiful important and to be protected.
@Vottaro it has to do with your definition of the hole. The hole is not problems/ diseases/dangerous occurences/death. the hole is not being saved, not being free. and Jesus Christ comes to save you and free you, not get rid of your problems, and getting rid of your problems is not necessarily being out of the hole. Since there is no name under heaven under which somone should be saved, taoism will never get you out of the hole. Again, the hole means something different than what ur thinking.
@mcsc177 Yes, but Come on, you can't honestly expect me to believe that BS about Jesus being the son of god and the bible being absolute unchanging truth, I mean come on Jesus gave instruction for slave owning, is that how a loving god would act? Plus the bible is riddled with a ton of sexism, so really, supporting the bible is to support everything within it, therefore support inequality, prejudiced for people who love someone of the same gender, justified killings and more great immoralities.
@Vottaro You don't need the bible to define what god is, in fact you should not rely on it for that when all the information adds up to God supporting slave owning, God supporting sexism, God supporting the stoning to death of people for stupid things such as working on the sabbath etc. (Actual translation to thou shalt not kill is thou shalt not murder) As you already know, things like lethal injection are not seen as murder, the same with stoning people to death as ordered by the bible.
they couldve easily said "another man passed by and told the man to accept that a certain man he had never heard of would come save him but, he never came"
This video bothers me in that though there are things Christianity/Jesus can provide that other religions can't, who is to say that there are somethings that Christianity cannot provide that Buddhism, Islam or Atheism/Agnosticism can?
@Isaia i don't think that's what the video is talking about, its actually saying the facts of what a person is suppose to do for other religion so they may meet god but as it is in the video it shows that Jesus out of all the other religion is the only god who came down to earth and reach out for us
@scottyi88 Isaia's right though. What if someone else mentioned that if you fell in a hole, a man came along and told him to not only love another neighbor but accept that guy as your lord and savior. And that if you didn't you'd go to hell?
Messages like this can be easily worded to apease the followers. In other words, it's the same message as the other religions, just different decoration in this video. Let other people believe as they wish.
@Pantonesara yes but these decorations isn't what their trying to focus on, they are trying to show what kind of god would come down to earth and sacrifice him or her self so that we would not go to hell, or that what kind of god would show love for us so much that we didn't hav to do those rituals or sacrifices in order for our sins to be forgiven for he gave himself to us, i believe that there are no other gods that has that much love for us
@scottyi88 Neither do those religions mentioned. Each is different. What is 'love' other than a conceptual kind of devotion? All of those have that as the heart of their faith. What if some of us don't need to have anyone sacrifice themselves? What if some of us don't believe in a hell? Other people can can say what they want and feel satisfied in what they feel, but there's a line they can cross when they just damn other people to suffering in hell just because they don't believe the same way.
@Pantonesara that is why we hav free will to find the truth and the way but if in fact you search deep in your heart which seems to bring more good than bad then you will come to know jesus in fact wars today isn't just based on freedom nor politics but more of a crusade
@Pantonesara it seems to me that you are afraid of hell, but at the same time, you don't believe that it exists. if you don't believe in hell, there's no reason for you to feel threatened by those who 'damn' you to that place.
as far as i understand this video, its message is intended for those who feel that they are trapped in a hole. if you don't feel the same, there's nothing for you here. arguing against it would only make you similar to that man who says there is no hole.
@edjv711 If it makes people feel better to damn others to hell, let them, I don't fear that. But when they doubly claim to love those they damn, it's selfish and hypocritical. A sign of control, and a betrayal of trust. It takes a seemingly message of unconditional love into something like a dirty Political campaign . You don't need to claim the love of your God and bring down other's love of another God or none. You say the message is not intended for those, but intention is not magic.
to athiests: For God did not send his Son into the world to condem the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemened already because he has not believed in the name of Gods 1 and only Son. Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. Jn.3:17-21
"Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evil doers." Matthew 7:23-24 See friends, its not what we do in works but only by the faith and relationship we have with Jesus. The relationship is first, the works will then follow. Never can redemption be achieved the other way around. Before one speaks, he should read the Bible first
First off Christianity is NOT a religion, its a relationship. Second, there is more factual documentation by SECULAR historians that Jesus lived, died and resurrected, than there is documantaion that William Shakesprear lived at all. To say that this video insults other religions is an understatement...it insults religion. Because religion is a dead end street....(cont.)
@imtotallyconfused not sure but it made me laugh after I heard that part... it reminds me of that religion involving the giant spagetti monster, which seriously is a religeon... fun fact of the day :D
this is a story made to insult everyother religion except christianity.....If your religion is so perfect, then why is it so devided into so many churches and beliefs? Wake up people. we are all humans. joining any religion with certain set of rules, will automatically turn you against other groups and fellow beings.
DoomMaster307 the question is not does this metaphor "diss" every other religion, but does it accurately represents their teachings, and the difference between the ways of man (who cannot get himself out of the hole) and the way of God (who alone has the ability to forgive sin and lift us out fo the hole).
Thank you God so much! I give my eternal thanks to you! Other false gods or idols won't sacrifice themselves to save us but you did! You have proved and fulfilled all the prophecy in the bible and you did keep your promise to us too!
Others people might laugh at me or discriminate me because they rejected you, pls forgive them because they still haven't discover the truth.
I love you with all my heart, soul, and mind the true God
Because the answer to religious complacency isn't working harder at a list of dos and don'ts, it's falling in love with God." Become the christian that God intended you to be.
The man represents how Jesus saves mankind from being lost, confused, and hell bound. Also it states how other religions are worthless and futile because there is only one God with only one Son and one Holy Spirit to save mankind and deliver them from their troubles. I don't know why people get so offended because of the Truth.
1) What a load of bigotry towards non-Christian religions.
2) To be truly consistent, the Christian guy would tell the guy in the hole that the reason he's in the hole is because he must have been a sinner and this is God's way of punishing him.
3) To be further consistent, it would be the Rationalist (=atheist) who would say that praying to a bunch of imaginary entities won't amount to crap and that science dictates the only way out is to be lowered the guy a rope.
@dmlbugs The man who took him out of the hole was not another Christian, it was Jesus himself. And the man in the hole would not need to be punished, Jesus already took that punishment for all us when he was crucified on the cross. You need to look at this video in a different way.The man being in the hole is not a punishment, it represents the troubles we face in life and how our lives can be destroyed by things like drugs ,stress etc. Jesus lifting him out represents how he can change our lives
Thank you father thank you for your Love and mercy most of all the Relationship I have with you. All praise and glory to you the most high. There is no other. Thank you Lord.
All of US were in these same hole....No one can say they have a perfect life nor are in true happiness? We ALL have imperfections...the only way for us to get out the HOLE is to be re-born again, sinless like a new born baby?
The hole represents the sin we are stuck in, for all have sinned & fall short (fall in) of God's glory & even the plans He has for you. The first ways describe man's attempt to get out of the hole but as you saw, We cannot. It took divine help in the form of God Himself to take us out. So, Jesus threw the rescue line in that illustrates what He did on the cross which fulfills both God's law & God's love. See Romans 5:8.
@Decibel33 from the video's perspective, you're the same man who said that the whole does not exist (because it was all an illusion). because you're saying the hole was created out of our creation of god/s - that is, the hole is an illusion that naturally came after our illusion of god/s. i respect it if you don't feel as if you're in a hole. but if one day you do, you know who to turn to now.
@Milosmilk-- "The act of "being saved" is fundamental to every major religion?" Ok, I'm listening, name one.. The Bible says "there is no other Name under Heaven given among men whereby we must be saved"..Acts 4:12. So, show me.
This is absurd propaganda. You could slant this ridiculous analogy in the favor of any religion. Instead of throwing a rope down and saving him he could have said pray to god and follow the teachings of the Bible, and you will be taken out of the hole.
@Milosmilk Yes he COULD HAVE said that. But the man would still be there. Jesus rescued us.
That's the difference we don't get out oby what WE do (foloow the teachings of the Bible) but by what HE DID (came to earth to set us free)! No other prophet or religion offers that.
@renezee Except Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism. All religions share the same fundamental structure of worshiping a God in exchange for some sort of reward.
This video is simply put, pro-Christianity propaganda. The act of "being saved" is fundamental to every major religion, it just seems that Christianity has monopolized it because they either don't know about or refuse to accept the ideas of other religions.
It seems to portray different facet of religion. Yet chrisitianity have still hope to reconcile the irreconcilable to God. A form of a god that interacts with the world in hope to save the body, where doings seems to be answer to the problem. The Holy Spirit is still the answer to the separation perpetuated by the mind. Someone stuck in the 'hole' who doesn't know about his unnecessary suffering and sacrifice, can't ask for the right tool to get out of the 'hole'.
The primary purpose of Jesus death was atonement possibly but the more important issue of crucifixion and state imposed death penality by occupying oppressive force and having been born into a poor disenfranchised family caught between two opposed but oppressive forces was the ability for God to understand us and to sanctify suffering and injustice in what becomes in catholic philosophy redemptive suffering.
think it this way-a troublemaker teen tries robs a bank.he is brought to court.jury says the charge is trillion$.The judge says he must pay ever cent of that fine.but think this-the judge slams the hammer and comes down and takes his robe off and he offers to pay for the teenager.what just happened?justice has taken place.God enforced it.We cant work to get that debt off.the judge showed grace, justice, love and freedom.all the teen needs to do is accept it.God did this for us.
God is a God of justice(Revalations 20:14)-thats why he will not break the laws that he made.We all deserve to go to hell.NOTHING can get us into heaven but the free gift of Life given by Jesus Christ.John 10:10 says about that. In addition to all this, he is a God of mercy and grace John 1:17.He is a God of love-1st John 4:8.
those of you who say that or ask "why couldn't God just forgive us withouit dying?" type of questions, read this: Hebrews 9:22 (NIV) In fact, the law requires almost everything be cleansed in blood, and WITHOUT THE SHEDDING OF BLOOD, THERE IS NO FORGIVENESS. And Hebrews 10:17-18 Then he adds: 'Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more. And where these have been forgiven, there is no longer any sacrifice for sin.
in addition I do not believe the only worldview for hope and redemption is Christianity it is to me the most perfected psychologically though and makes the most sense in relation to the human condition and mentality of evil, morality and redemption of the individual. Redemption being how do i reconcile myself with the evil i perpetrate and the evil I witness and the evil done to me within a framework that allows me to pursue hope and love and peace in spite of what may seem utter darkness.
@CCTam5 I am not saying we were good then we have fallen man has always been fallen and will always fall as we are fighting a natural instinct which is neither good nor bad that is our animal survival instinct I am not a fundalmentalist Christian but Catholic. In Catholic philosophy the natural instincts we operate with are good but become bad when allowed to become ego driven.
I think this video is great You may disagree with this videos messsage but Christianity is the worlds largest religion and for many, the Christian message of redemption forgiveness and hope are wonderful in world in which even if absent of religion in the wolrld man is evil, greedy ,violent and fallen.
Sorry, but the idea that a non-believer is evil, greedy, violent and "fallen", whatever fallen means, is pure absurdity. Morality has nothing to do with religion or even Christianity. Morality was here long before religion was.
What I think jesaintlouis was trying to say was that all people are "evil, greedy, violent, and fallen" not merely those who are not Christians or for that matter followers of any faith. His point was that the message of Christianity provides hope to many. Though to be fair simply providing hope does not make something true. There is such a thing as false hope.
By the way to say humanity is fallen is to say it was once good but is now corrupt.
Why was humanity once good but is now fallen? Is this harkening back to the myth of Adam and Eve? I wasn't asking for that definition of Fallen. I simply don't buy the crazy idea that humanity was created by an intelligent designer and we "fell" because we decided not to obey.
You can assume that humanity was always inherently selfish, violent, and a host of other negative traits if you like. His point was that the dark nature of humanity is self-evident and that Christianity provides hope that there is a solution. Of course almost every other major belief system either explicitly or implicitly makes a similar claim. Which again goes back to the question of how to test these claims.
This video is the very definition of what's wrong in the world. The presumptuous attitude of Christianity portrayed here is offensive and evil. To lump all other religions, non-religions, and Atheism together and dismiss them as this video does simply shows the ignorance of those who made it.
Which is exactly what every other "religion, non-religions, and atheism" does. Any claim to truth inherently presupposes that all other claims are wrong. Even claiming that all beliefs are true to the ones that holds them is a belief that assumes that all who hold that there is only one truth are wrong.
Furthermore the very nature of truth seeking requires the rejection of each claim that is shown to be wrong. The real debate is over what constitutes proof that a belief is wrong.
Your post is a bit confusing. You say, "The real debate is over what constitues proof that a belief is wrong." If I understand that correctly, I totally disagree with you. It isn't the responsability of the non-believer to *prove* that the believer's truth is false. It is on the believer to prove that his/her belief is true.
On an academic level your right it is the role of a truth claimer to defend their claim. My point wasn't over where the burden of proof lies (though in reality no belief system can scientifically prove that their way is the correct one) but rather that in order to determine what is true one must reject all that is false. Thus the question that plagues truth seekers is how to determine if a truth claim is false.
You said: "...in order to determine what is true one must reject all that is false." I think maybe that's making things too complicated. It's true that the computer I'm typing on has what is known as a CPU inside it. I've seen this thing called a CPU and therefore I know it has one. I didn't have to reject any falsehood to know that truth. True is true. Belief is belief. Period.
That sounds good but it has the problem that by affirming that your computer has a CPU you are rejecting any claim that your computer doesn't have a CPU. To affirm something as true you automatically reject anything that contradicts it. Which brings us back to the question of what constitutes proof that something is untrue. Of course as this example is an issue of fact it is relatively easy to proof that the computer has a CPU. You can just open it up and check. Religion is harder.
@KURTZ4FREEDOM don’t come back to life and tell us what’s to follow after death, how can you claim that the declarations of the Christian religion are correct and that everyone else is wrong (figuratively still stuck in the hole)? Just because your dude throws a rope in the hole doesn’t mean anything in a practical sense. Any one of these religions provides equal (and circumstantially no) evidence for salvation or an afterlife. Jesus fail.
@KURTZ4FREEDOM Just a thought – historical debate aside – you must admit that this video serves as a moderately poor analogy. Let’s pretend that the complete “earth as a hole” metaphor is valid. How does that in any sense validate the claims of Christianity over any other religion? If getting out of the hole stands for redemption and/or eternal life, this video doesn’t show WHY Christianity is true and another religion isn’t. Since dead Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Atheists (ANYONE)
ok, I'm pissed! Just goes to show how intolerant this video is to faiths like the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster! How come the Spaghetti Monster didn't appear to the guy in hole! its because if he did the Spaghetti Monster would extend one of his long tentacles down to the guy, thus allowing him to come out of the Dark and closed hole of ignorance!
Dear "4312ton", Can you back up your three or four claims with anything? A person can say whatever they want or feel. But that is the essence of Satan, who defies God and despises truth. "...When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it." (John 8:44). So if you are speaking out of just what you feel or want, ask yourself how you came to those conclusions. It would be wise then to consider that source and its reliability. Respectfully, John
@KURTZ4FREEDOM John, it is you, not me, who has to back up your religious claims. Your religion makes extraordinary claims and therefore you need to provide extraordinary evidence. Quoting an anonymous author writing about 95 AD who was later labeled, "John", by the church, is meaningless. You need to provide evidence for God, the fall, sin, Satan, the need for the human sacrifice, or any of the other mythical claims of your religion.
@4312ton Yes, Christianity makes very extraordinary ("Unusually great") claims. We long for the eternal and for the truth. The Disciple/Apostle John was considered by most "church fathers" to be the author. The book refers to the disciple "whom Jesus loved", which indicates that he was talking of himself. You view the Bible as Mythical, while I and many others believe it to be Historical. "In the beginning, God" requires faith, as it suggests no human was present. Have you read the Bible?
@KURTZ4FREEDOM The 4 Gospel writers are anonymous with names assigned between 150-180 AD. The author of John does not refer to himself. None of the four authors were witnesses. Lee Strobel is a charlatan and showing his drivel to prisoners is cruel and unusual punishment. I have read the Bible and it is only marginally historical and written by men with an agenda. The creation myth of Genesis requires a lot of faith to be accepted in 2010. So far no evidence, or truths.
@4312ton Friend, you seem to write your opinions quite freely out of some motivation that I do not know. The inmates loved the Strobel video! How can you challenge that? Beyond that, that is an attack on my actions. In the prison we call your type of commentary "hateful" and those who do it as "haters".
@4312ton So you would argue against the suggestion that John discipled a man named Polycarp who in turn discipled a man named Irenaeus, who testified that Polycarp ensured him that John wrote the Gospel of John?
Strobel is a wannabe journalist, Christian apologist, but no Biblical scholar. Irenaeus makes many claims in his book "Against Heresies". He came up with the four gospels assignments to fight the other Christian versions at the time.
Irenaeus made many unproven claims and he definitely had an agenda.
@4312ton You are a hoot! My opinion is that you sit in the minority regarding Gospel of John not being authored my Apostle John. Apparently the first thoughts otherwise came around the 18th century when checking Catholic Encyclopedia.
In reality, you can question every historical thing ever written in the universe, even whether I am the same John that wrote the prior comments under this name.
Now less about Irenaeus' agenda and on to yours... what do YOU believe?
@KURTZ4FREEDOM Surely you're not using Strobel as your source of Christian history! But then, you live in Alabama which is sort of a Christian Fantasyland
The majority of real Biblical scholars, except evangelical fundamentalists, know that the Gospel authors are anonymous. They also know that Irenaeus wrote120-150 years after the death of Jesus. That's the equivalent of writing today about an obscure event, communicated by word of mouth, in the mid-late 1800's! Continued..
@KURTZ4FREEDOM Moreover, the uneducated, poor, Aramaic speaking Apostles definitely did not speak, or write, the well educated Greek that you know as the "Gospel of John". I'm sure you've also noticed the completely different theology of John compared to the Synoptic Gospels.
You are the one with the agenda John. I believe everything for which there is verifiable evidence. Christianity is not one of those!
Please use your common sense and do not accept what you read and heard at face value.
@4312ton At this point, I see that you are not a very reasonable person to converse with. Verifiable evidence is subjective to your opinion of what is verifiable. Stay safe in Canada. Good-Bye.
@4312ton If you are truly interested in the subject, please purchase or rent a copy of "The Case for Faith" by Lee Strobel. It is a book and now a DVD. He does an excellent job of presenting what I cannot do in 500 some characters. I showed it to a group of 60 men in prison where I work this week and have a good demand from some of them to show it again soon. Respectfully, John
Whether this, by our earthly ignorant views, is propaganda or not, it shows what is true about religions on earth. Religions have rules you must abide by to be freed. That's not freedom. With Christ, all you must do is have faith and he will free you. "Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." -Philippians 4:6-7
@Ripenr32 Gosh do you have little faith(assuming you are christian) Does the bible not say that the governments of this world shall be on that back on jesus...So then we have nothing to fear. Except having a revernece of God...which is the begining of true wisdom
But they never showed the traveler that offers salvation when you accept that God sent his son to die for our sins. Then again, the poor man would still be stuck in the hole.
The funniest thing about this video is that it is a CUSTOM propaganda video.
I mean, you could, for example, put the Christian as one of the people who failed (he told the dude to believe in Jesus, and he did, but in a hole he remained), and the Buddhist guy as the one who succeeded (the man achieved nirvana, and levitated out of the hole).
See what I mean? Once you realize that... you realize it's ALL a sham.
@hetrel thats not true: revel 7:10 And they keep on crying with a loud voice, saying: “Salvation [we owe] to our God, who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb.”
This is Propaganda. I think that a muslim or hindu would do the exact same thing. Don't forget that we are all human beings. It has nothing to do with religion. what matters is wether you are a good or bad person.
You missed the whole point of the story. The hole is a metaphor for sin and the problem of evil. When the final traveler climbs down into the hole it is a reference to the incarnation of Jesus. The fundamental difference between Christianity and the other religions is that God did not merely look down from below and tell man how to fix things but rather came into the world as a man to fix it himself. All of Christianity is built around the death and resurrection of Jesus.
@ThechissDeity why did God come down himself : did not he send his son: matthew 3:
16 After being baptized Jesus immediately came up from the water; and, look! the heavens were opened up, and he saw descending like a dove God’s spirit coming upon him. 17 Look! Also, there was a voice from the heavens that said: “This is my Son, the beloved, whom I have approved.”
@ThechissDeity We got the metaphor, but here are the problems: 1) we are not in a hole, (no sin, got it?), 2) There is no need to be rescued by a human sacrifice (see 1). 3) you are on your own and need to learn to climb out of your own hole, and oh-yeah - there is no reward of an afterlife by swallowing any of the nonsense being sold in this video.
@4312ton The hole = Earth, and the man climbing into the pit is a metaphore for Jesus coming down into Earth to save ALL OF US, and carry us to "into the light" by the weight on his back
@NativeNorwegian I know of nobody other than Jesus Christ that offers you eternal life and salvation if you simply truly desire to be saved. And I know first hand that when you feel Christ's saving grace that you will only want to do good. Christ frees you from all suffering at no cost of your own.
It is kind of a misleading video. Well meaning... but misleading! Christians are welcome to believe in Jesus as the 'Absolute' and 'Ultimate' truth... but belittling other religions is just propaganda!
Every religion asks you to believe in God to attain nirvana or salvation or whatever you may want to call it. So, how is one person's belief superior than the other one's. And how is it that only the Christian belief 'saves' him.
I have read the Bible... I'm not a Christian & I've read the Bhaagwad Gita too & both books are claimed to be written by God... both eons ago. I say 'claimed' coz I cannot prove it, but what I've found is both books have the same core truth, & ideology for the welfare of humanity. Now, it all depends on how one reads it. If sum1 reads it to extract the good and follow the teachings, every religion is good. But if sum1 decides to contort what he reads; it's unfair to call the religion evil.
Religion is a belief, a faith that gets us through tough times. When something cannot be explained by science, then we take the support of God and religion. But it is not necessary that science disproves God.
God is manifest in all of us as the light that guides us to do right (or our conscience)... whatever our religion. To me, and yes, it is my POV My Conscience is My God My Absolute truth! Sometimes, I give it the face of Jesus, sometimes, Lord Krishna or some other God; but they all look surprisingly alike in my mind, only the outfit changes.
You say it is your point of view that your conscience is your absolute truth. Absolute is defined as "something that is not dependent upon external conditions for existence or for its specific nature, size, etc." Thus ""my absolute truth" is an inherent contradiction. If it is absolute truth it is absolute even if nobody believes it.
Further more you can say that you give your conscience the face of various religious figures but to say that they look alike is nonsense. They're not the same
You inadvertently already revealed the difference. Other religions are based on achievement; you earn salvation or achieve nirvana. But in Christianity the first step is to acknowledge that it is impossible for man to save himself. For Christianity salvation is not about the strength of ones faith or adhering to a set of guidelines but is instead a free gift and an offer for a relationship with God.
You have inadvertently revealed the difference between Christianity and the other religions. They are based on achievement; you earn salvation or achieve nirvana. The first step in Christianity to accept that man can never save himself. Our very nature sabotages any effort. We have fallen too far and no longer can even see the sky. In Christianity salvation is not based on adherence to a moral code or the strength of ones belief but is rather a freely offered gift and a relationship offer.
If the hell is not real, well and good. At least we have lived a happy life to the best that we could. But if hell is real, we are saved and may even be rewarded. So simple... very simple. I don't need need a religion or science to understand that.
Jesus Christ is not a religion, its a relationshp, when you allow Christ to take over your life,he takes your from darkness into His light, thank you for sharing this awesome video!
How dare the author of this video degrade any religion other than Christianity, and refute its usefulness in guiding its followers! I'm a Catholic, however we are tolerant of other people's beliefs. The cornerstone of any "Church" should be to promote understanding and acceptance of ALL people. Religion is something that should benefit human beings and lead them closer to happiness and fulfillment. It is not another reason to cause a divide in our race. This kind of propaganda is a disgrace.
What I hate about Christians... they are never content to simply promote there beliefs, nope, they also attempt to render all other beliefs as false, wrong, evil. Christianity is the most despicable belief system ever conceived. I despise that sick, fraudulent religion with every ounce of my strength.
No, that is fraud as is the rest of Christianity. It's just a fear based control system from the the pus bucket of bronze age ignorance. It was invented to coerce obedience from primitive peasants and has no place in a scientific, rational society. While you are praying I will be thinking.
calculated faith is always better than blind faith.
u said u will be thinking. it's good.
There are many people who claim to know Christ but they don't really know him. They don't read the bible. They don't even consider looking at the evidences and see if they support his claims.
i suggest that you try studying the words of Jesus of Nazareth and what the bible says about him. do some research. see for yourself.
& while you are thinking, i will be praying fo you =)
Why don't you study the Koran-- maybe you'll find it convincing too? No? Well I feel about the same towards your bible. A bronze age con job made up by superstitious primitives and used to seize control of your mind. There is no corroborating evidence to support the bible. Nothing else speaks of the bible's ridiculous claims that defy science and reason. It's just mythology (much of it borrowed from earlier religions). That's clearly obvious.
I choose to both pray and think. "no corroborating evidence to support the Bible"? This is not as "clearly obvious" as you think. It may seem ridiculous or impossible to us...but we are not God. There is a lot of information out there to support the claims made in the Bible, including a global flood, a young earth and creation.
I will join nucks82 in that prayer for you, and pray that you will learn to think for yourself and form opinions based on real evidence, not popular opinion.
There is no information to support a global flood. Listen to real scientists, not crackpots who distort science to conform to their delusions. Are you insinuating Noah's Ark really happened. Any archaeologist would laugh at such a notion.
You can't use what you havn't proven (god) as grounds for your belief. That defies reason and is circular logic. Prayer doesn't work because ther is no entity in the sky to answer it. Prayer has never worked beyond random chance.
If you were honest with yourself you could no begin to claim such things as "a global flood, a young earth and creation". Just study some science. There are several scientific methods of determining age all of which co-agree (to a fraction of a percent) the age of the earth. This is not even negotiable, the razor of science and indisputable proof will shut you down. There is no fact or extrapolation of fact that remotely concludes what you are suggesting in the scientific community.

The Hole = Sin
1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th man = Man's way of attempting to get out of the hole of sin by works or by simply denying the existence of his condition.
4th man = Salvation by grace alone, through faith alone in Christ alone.

The fallacy starts in the first sentence. Who said the man was in a hole? Religion creates the problem, convinces people of it, and then offers the solution. See how this video uses music and makes it all glorious when Jesus comes? Pure deception, appealing to emotions. It's sad people try to convince people they are in a hole, when they're not.
u2bMonkey 5 months ago 3
@u2bMonkey Jesus is the truth and it is good to know Jesus. You must first be willing to learn in order for you to understand. i prayed for you so that somehow in someway you get to know Jesus. He is the son of God, and nobody goes to the father (god) if its not through the son (Jesus). This is not a matter of debate or prove. This is not a matter of religion, in fact, a lot of people who are Christians and are "religious" will perish because it is not a religion that takes you to the kingdom.
dann05 3 months ago
@dann05 I agree that Jesus is the Way to the Father, if His teachings are understood rightly. But the belief that without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sin, is incorrect and absurd. In the Tao Te Ching, Laozi shows the Way into the Kingdom. It's by becoming centered in the Tao, by being simple, open, empty, accepting, etc. Like Laozi, Jesus was a man who realized his union with the Father/Tao, and pointed the way into that union, which is by abiding centered in the Way.
u2bMonkey 3 months ago

Vottaro 6 months ago
@Vottaro not only because it has the potential to create an ally but also because someone who suffers not to have food, not to have water and many other thing people tend to take for granted tend to gain an enlightenment that betters people to have by stating the importance and true beauty of those things taken for granted.
Vottaro 6 months ago
@Vottaro When things normally taken for granted cease to be taken for granted, their purity is guarded and preserved. Think of water, the water in many places throughout the U.S. have a number of dangerous industrial wastes in it because people took it for granted, did not give it proper respect and did not see it in an enlightened many portraying it as beautiful important and to be protected.
Vottaro 6 months ago
@Vottaro it has to do with your definition of the hole. The hole is not problems/ diseases/dangerous occurences/death. the hole is not being saved, not being free. and Jesus Christ comes to save you and free you, not get rid of your problems, and getting rid of your problems is not necessarily being out of the hole. Since there is no name under heaven under which somone should be saved, taoism will never get you out of the hole. Again, the hole means something different than what ur thinking.
mcsc177 5 months ago
@mcsc177 Yes, but Come on, you can't honestly expect me to believe that BS about Jesus being the son of god and the bible being absolute unchanging truth, I mean come on Jesus gave instruction for slave owning, is that how a loving god would act? Plus the bible is riddled with a ton of sexism, so really, supporting the bible is to support everything within it, therefore support inequality, prejudiced for people who love someone of the same gender, justified killings and more great immoralities.
Vottaro 5 months ago
@Vottaro You don't need the bible to define what god is, in fact you should not rely on it for that when all the information adds up to God supporting slave owning, God supporting sexism, God supporting the stoning to death of people for stupid things such as working on the sabbath etc. (Actual translation to thou shalt not kill is thou shalt not murder) As you already know, things like lethal injection are not seen as murder, the same with stoning people to death as ordered by the bible.

Isaia 9 months ago
@Isaia i don't think that's what the video is talking about, its actually saying the facts of what a person is suppose to do for other religion so they may meet god but as it is in the video it shows that Jesus out of all the other religion is the only god who came down to earth and reach out for us
scottyi88 8 months ago
@scottyi88 Isaia's right though. What if someone else mentioned that if you fell in a hole, a man came along and told him to not only love another neighbor but accept that guy as your lord and savior. And that if you didn't you'd go to hell?
Messages like this can be easily worded to apease the followers. In other words, it's the same message as the other religions, just different decoration in this video. Let other people believe as they wish.
Pantonesara 8 months ago
@Pantonesara yes but these decorations isn't what their trying to focus on, they are trying to show what kind of god would come down to earth and sacrifice him or her self so that we would not go to hell, or that what kind of god would show love for us so much that we didn't hav to do those rituals or sacrifices in order for our sins to be forgiven for he gave himself to us, i believe that there are no other gods that has that much love for us
scottyi88 8 months ago
@scottyi88 Neither do those religions mentioned. Each is different. What is 'love' other than a conceptual kind of devotion? All of those have that as the heart of their faith. What if some of us don't need to have anyone sacrifice themselves? What if some of us don't believe in a hell? Other people can can say what they want and feel satisfied in what they feel, but there's a line they can cross when they just damn other people to suffering in hell just because they don't believe the same way.
Pantonesara 8 months ago 2
@Pantonesara that is why we hav free will to find the truth and the way but if in fact you search deep in your heart which seems to bring more good than bad then you will come to know jesus in fact wars today isn't just based on freedom nor politics but more of a crusade
scottyi88 8 months ago
@scottyi88 that doesn't even make sense. Please re phrase what you're saying.
Pantonesara 7 months ago
@Pantonesara it seems to me that you are afraid of hell, but at the same time, you don't believe that it exists. if you don't believe in hell, there's no reason for you to feel threatened by those who 'damn' you to that place.
as far as i understand this video, its message is intended for those who feel that they are trapped in a hole. if you don't feel the same, there's nothing for you here. arguing against it would only make you similar to that man who says there is no hole.
edjv711 7 months ago
@edjv711 If it makes people feel better to damn others to hell, let them, I don't fear that. But when they doubly claim to love those they damn, it's selfish and hypocritical. A sign of control, and a betrayal of trust. It takes a seemingly message of unconditional love into something like a dirty Political campaign . You don't need to claim the love of your God and bring down other's love of another God or none. You say the message is not intended for those, but intention is not magic.

@Milosmilk-- "The act of "being saved" is fundamental to every major religion?" Ok, I'm listening, name one.. The Bible says "there is no other Name under Heaven given among men whereby we must be saved"..Acts 4:12. So, show me.
Jesse3736 1 year ago
This is absurd propaganda. You could slant this ridiculous analogy in the favor of any religion. Instead of throwing a rope down and saving him he could have said pray to god and follow the teachings of the Bible, and you will be taken out of the hole.
Milosmilk 1 year ago
@Milosmilk Yes he COULD HAVE said that. But the man would still be there. Jesus rescued us.
That's the difference we don't get out oby what WE do (foloow the teachings of the Bible) but by what HE DID (came to earth to set us free)! No other prophet or religion offers that.

@renezee Except Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism. All religions share the same fundamental structure of worshiping a God in exchange for some sort of reward.

The primary purpose of Jesus death was atonement possibly but the more important issue of crucifixion and state imposed death penality by occupying oppressive force and having been born into a poor disenfranchised family caught between two opposed but oppressive forces was the ability for God to understand us and to sanctify suffering and injustice in what becomes in catholic philosophy redemptive suffering.

in addition I do not believe the only worldview for hope and redemption is Christianity it is to me the most perfected psychologically though and makes the most sense in relation to the human condition and mentality of evil, morality and redemption of the individual. Redemption being how do i reconcile myself with the evil i perpetrate and the evil I witness and the evil done to me within a framework that allows me to pursue hope and love and peace in spite of what may seem utter darkness.

jesaintlouis 1 year ago
@jesaintlouis
Sorry, but the idea that a non-believer is evil, greedy, violent and "fallen", whatever fallen means, is pure absurdity. Morality has nothing to do with religion or even Christianity. Morality was here long before religion was.
CCTam5 1 year ago
@CCTam5
ThechissDeity 1 year ago
@jesaintlouis
Why was humanity once good but is now fallen? Is this harkening back to the myth of Adam and Eve? I wasn't asking for that definition of Fallen. I simply don't buy the crazy idea that humanity was created by an intelligent designer and we "fell" because we decided not to obey.
CCTam5 1 year ago
@CCTam5
ThechissDeity 1 year ago
Why did the man fall down the well ??
knocksimon 1 year ago
This video is the very definition of what's wrong in the world. The presumptuous attitude of Christianity portrayed here is offensive and evil. To lump all other religions, non-religions, and Atheism together and dismiss them as this video does simply shows the ignorance of those who made it.
CCTam5 1 year ago 2
@CCTam5
ThechissDeity 1 year ago
@ThechissDeity
CCTam5 1 year ago
@CCTam5
ThechissDeity 1 year ago
@ThechissDeity
Period.
CCTam5 1 year ago
@CCTam5

It would not be accurate or honest for us to say anything but this: Jesus Christ is the only way to God and salvation.

I know this Vid is supposed to contain deep symbolism of how Christians are right and others are wrong.
But really, how far has humanity come with that concept? wars, deaths, battles
Peace is the VERY CORE of religion. Use it to fuel unity Not seperation.
Please PLEASE a thousand times "DONT use religion as mindless propaganda for Spread Segregation."
All pathways to some kind of virtuous righteousness, leads to progression.
This goes for Bhuddist, Muslims, Christians, Athiests *Everyone alive

ok, I'm pissed!

KURTZ4FREEDOM 1 year ago
@KURTZ4FREEDOM John, it is you, not me, who has to back up your religious claims. Your religion makes extraordinary claims and therefore you need to provide extraordinary evidence. Quoting an anonymous author writing about 95 AD who was later labeled, "John", by the church, is meaningless. You need to provide evidence for God, the fall, sin, Satan, the need for the human sacrifice, or any of the other mythical claims of your religion.
4312ton 1 year ago
@4312ton Yes, Christianity makes very extraordinary ("Unusually great") claims. We long for the eternal and for the truth. The Disciple/Apostle John was considered by most "church fathers" to be the author. The book refers to the disciple "whom Jesus loved", which indicates that he was talking of himself. You view the Bible as Mythical, while I and many others believe it to be Historical. "In the beginning, God" requires faith, as it suggests no human was present. Have you read the Bible?
KURTZ4FREEDOM 1 year ago
@KURTZ4FREEDOM The 4 Gospel writers are anonymous with names assigned between 150-180 AD. The author of John does not refer to himself. None of the four authors were witnesses. Lee Strobel is a charlatan and showing his drivel to prisoners is cruel and unusual punishment. I have read the Bible and it is only marginally historical and written by men with an agenda. The creation myth of Genesis requires a lot of faith to be accepted in 2010. So far no evidence, or truths.
4312ton 1 year ago
@4312ton Friend, you seem to write your opinions quite freely out of some motivation that I do not know. The inmates loved the Strobel video! How can you challenge that? Beyond that, that is an attack on my actions. In the prison we call your type of commentary "hateful" and those who do it as "haters".
KURTZ4FREEDOM 1 year ago
@4312ton So you would argue against the suggestion that John discipled a man named Polycarp who in turn discipled a man named Irenaeus, who testified that Polycarp ensured him that John wrote the Gospel of John?
KURTZ4FREEDOM 1 year ago
@KURTZ4FREEDOM
4312ton 1 year ago
@4312ton You are a hoot! My opinion is that you sit in the minority regarding Gospel of John not being authored my Apostle John. Apparently the first thoughts otherwise came around the 18th century when checking Catholic Encyclopedia.
In reality, you can question every historical thing ever written in the universe, even whether I am the same John that wrote the prior comments under this name.
Now less about Irenaeus' agenda and on to yours... what do YOU believe?
KURTZ4FREEDOM 1 year ago
@KURTZ4FREEDOM Surely you're not using Strobel as your source of Christian history! But then, you live in Alabama which is sort of a Christian Fantasyland
The majority of real Biblical scholars, except evangelical fundamentalists, know that the Gospel authors are anonymous. They also know that Irenaeus wrote120-150 years after the death of Jesus. That's the equivalent of writing today about an obscure event, communicated by word of mouth, in the mid-late 1800's! Continued..
4312ton 1 year ago
@KURTZ4FREEDOM Moreover, the uneducated, poor, Aramaic speaking Apostles definitely did not speak, or write, the well educated Greek that you know as the "Gospel of John". I'm sure you've also noticed the completely different theology of John compared to the Synoptic Gospels.
You are the one with the agenda John. I believe everything for which there is verifiable evidence. Christianity is not one of those!
Please use your common sense and do not accept what you read and heard at face value.
4312ton 1 year ago
@4312ton At this point, I see that you are not a very reasonable person to converse with. Verifiable evidence is subjective to your opinion of what is verifiable. Stay safe in Canada. Good-Bye.
KURTZ4FREEDOM 1 year ago
@KURTZ4FREEDOM
"Christianity makes very extraordinary ("Unusually great") claims"
Yes I know, but I can make equally great claims and tell you you'll win the lottery tomorrow. But you'd just laugh - because you lack faith.
So the issue is: hard evidence. Just like you would demand of the claims of a non-Christian religion.
4312ton 1 year ago

NativeNorwegian 1 year ago 2
You missed the whole point of the story. The hole is a metaphor for sin and the problem of evil. When the final traveler climbs down into the hole it is a reference to the incarnation of Jesus. The fundamental difference between Christianity and the other religions is that God did not merely look down from below and tell man how to fix things but rather came into the world as a man to fix it himself. All of Christianity is built around the death and resurrection of Jesus.
ThechissDeity 1 year ago 28
@ThechissDeity why did God come down himself : did not he send his son: matthew 3:
16 After being baptized Jesus immediately came up from the water; and, look! the heavens were opened up, and he saw descending like a dove God’s spirit coming upon him. 17 Look! Also, there was a voice from the heavens that said: “This is my Son, the beloved, whom I have approved.”
afterraincomessun 1 year ago
@ThechissDeity We got the metaphor, but here are the problems: 1) we are not in a hole, (no sin, got it?), 2) There is no need to be rescued by a human sacrifice (see 1). 3) you are on your own and need to learn to climb out of your own hole, and oh-yeah - there is no reward of an afterlife by swallowing any of the nonsense being sold in this video.
4312ton 1 year ago
@4312ton The hole = Earth, and the man climbing into the pit is a metaphore for Jesus coming down into Earth to save ALL OF US, and carry us to "into the light" by the weight on his back
RageAgainstNWO 1 year ago
@NativeNorwegian I know of nobody other than Jesus Christ that offers you eternal life and salvation if you simply truly desire to be saved. And I know first hand that when you feel Christ's saving grace that you will only want to do good. Christ frees you from all suffering at no cost of your own.

ShakeNbake0000 1 year ago
It is kind of a misleading video. Well meaning... but misleading! Christians are welcome to believe in Jesus as the 'Absolute' and 'Ultimate' truth... but belittling other religions is just propaganda!
Every religion asks you to believe in God to attain nirvana or salvation or whatever you may want to call it. So, how is one person's belief superior than the other one's. And how is it that only the Christian belief 'saves' him.
Contd. ...
xena18181 1 year ago

I have read the Bible... I'm not a Christian & I've read the Bhaagwad Gita too & both books are claimed to be written by God... both eons ago. I say 'claimed' coz I cannot prove it, but what I've found is both books have the same core truth, & ideology for the welfare of humanity. Now, it all depends on how one reads it. If sum1 reads it to extract the good and follow the teachings, every religion is good. But if sum1 decides to contort what he reads; it's unfair to call the religion evil.
xena18181 1 year ago
Religion is a belief, a faith that gets us through tough times. When something cannot be explained by science, then we take the support of God and religion. But it is not necessary that science disproves God.
xena18181 1 year ago
God is manifest in all of us as the light that guides us to do right (or our conscience)... whatever our religion. To me, and yes, it is my POV My Conscience is My God My Absolute truth! Sometimes, I give it the face of Jesus, sometimes, Lord Krishna or some other God; but they all look surprisingly alike in my mind, only the outfit changes.
xena18181 1 year ago
You say it is your point of view that your conscience is your absolute truth. Absolute is defined as "something that is not dependent upon external conditions for existence or for its specific nature, size, etc." Thus ""my absolute truth" is an inherent contradiction. If it is absolute truth it is absolute even if nobody believes it.
Further more you can say that you give your conscience the face of various religious figures but to say that they look alike is nonsense. They're not the same
ThechissDeity 1 year ago
You inadvertently already revealed the difference. Other religions are based on achievement; you earn salvation or achieve nirvana. But in Christianity the first step is to acknowledge that it is impossible for man to save himself. For Christianity salvation is not about the strength of ones faith or adhering to a set of guidelines but is instead a free gift and an offer for a relationship with God.
ThechissDeity 1 year ago
You have inadvertently revealed the difference between Christianity and the other religions. They are based on achievement; you earn salvation or achieve nirvana. The first step in Christianity to accept that man can never save himself. Our very nature sabotages any effort. We have fallen too far and no longer can even see the sky. In Christianity salvation is not based on adherence to a moral code or the strength of ones belief but is rather a freely offered gift and a relationship offer.
ThechissDeity 1 year ago
If the hell is not real, well and good. At least we have lived a happy life to the best that we could. But if hell is real, we are saved and may even be rewarded. So simple... very simple. I don't need need a religion or science to understand that.

& while you are thinking, i will be praying fo you =)
zaifel201 1 year ago
Why don't you study the Koran-- maybe you'll find it convincing too? No? Well I feel about the same towards your bible. A bronze age con job made up by superstitious primitives and used to seize control of your mind. There is no corroborating evidence to support the bible. Nothing else speaks of the bible's ridiculous claims that defy science and reason. It's just mythology (much of it borrowed from earlier religions). That's clearly obvious.
socksumi 1 year ago
I choose to both pray and think. "no corroborating evidence to support the Bible"? This is not as "clearly obvious" as you think. It may seem ridiculous or impossible to us...but we are not God. There is a lot of information out there to support the claims made in the Bible, including a global flood, a young earth and creation.
I will join nucks82 in that prayer for you, and pray that you will learn to think for yourself and form opinions based on real evidence, not popular opinion.
Blonde10Ambition 1 year ago
There is no information to support a global flood. Listen to real scientists, not crackpots who distort science to conform to their delusions. Are you insinuating Noah's Ark really happened. Any archaeologist would laugh at such a notion.
You can't use what you havn't proven (god) as grounds for your belief. That defies reason and is circular logic. Prayer doesn't work because ther is no entity in the sky to answer it. Prayer has never worked beyond random chance.
socksumi 1 year ago
If you were honest with yourself you could no begin to claim such things as "a global flood, a young earth and creation". Just study some science. There are several scientific methods of determining age all of which co-agree (to a fraction of a percent) the age of the earth. This is not even negotiable, the razor of science and indisputable proof will shut you down. There is no fact or extrapolation of fact that remotely concludes what you are suggesting in the scientific community.
