I dont know any snake but my male normal bp thats ever gotten bitten before, and its cause hes an idiot, he bit the rat in the balls which was pretty funny but it curled up and bit him on his mid section, wasnt too bad cause when the rat bit he bent the rat backwards, which was also interesting so the bite was very minor

Having said that; I used to have a pet rat. They are excellent pets, and far more intelligent than hamsters. Rats can be affectionate and learn to solve problems very well.
Unfortunately for rats, that doesn't change the fact that they are prey animals to snakes. It also doesn't change the fact that they are most often cheaper than the less-intelligent and far-meaner hamster, which is actually a better food item for many snakes.

Yes I can. I had a rat which jumped into a pond and swam around in circles for approximately 25 minutes before it drowned. I was unable to go in after it as swimming was not allowed and police were nearby. This was a healthy rat which ran on a wheel quite often, and had an excellent diet. It was a fully grown male, and not mistreated. He just got excited and jumped when someone made a loud noise nearby. He swam nearly to the middle of the pond and went in circles searching for land.

Having said that; I used to have a pet rat. They are excellent pets, and far more intelligent than hamsters. Rats can be affectionate and learn to solve problems very well.
Unfortunately for rats, that doesn't change the fact that they are prey animals to snakes. It also doesn't change the fact that they are most often cheaper than the less-intelligent and far-meaner hamster, which is actually a better food item for many snakes.
Put plainly, it's economical.

And yes i KNOW snakes eat rats in the wild, all im saying is that THEY DONT FIND THEMSELVES IN THESE CONDITIONS. im not trying to censor this video, im putting in my opinion, im pretty sure thats what the comment box is made for. Yes I can. I had a rat which jumped into a pond and swam around in circles for approximately 25 minutes before it drowned. I was unable to go in after it as swimming was not allowed and police were nearby. This was a healthy rat which ran on a wheel quite often, and had an excellent diet. It was a fully grown male, and not mistreated. He just got excited and jumped when someone made a loud noise nearby. He swam nearly to the middle of the pond and went in circles searching for land.

Ok, so your pet rat jumped in a pond (which I'm sure you loved EVER so much) AND YOU JUST SAT THERE FOR 25 MINS BEFORE LETTING IT DROWN. man you must be the pest pet owner Ive ever seen. If police were nearby and it was my rat I wouldnt care I'd go in anyway. Id gladly pay whatever the fine is to save my pets life. Whats more is Im sure the ploice would allow you to go in after it.

I'm sorry but this is a SICK and twisted video. If killing a domestic pet with the IQ of an average dog isn't enough they had to film it as well. This isn't a natural occurence, sure snakes eat rats but I do not think that a rat would find itself on a rock surrounded by water and barricades higher than it can jump on all sides. This is just sick twisted people who enjoy animal suffering.

sure it might not be a rat that finds itself stranded. but what about in the nature? a stranded baby sloth per say could be eaten by an anaconda because he swam to a log to catch his breath (the amazon is flooded for I think it was 6 months of the year?) therefor slothes have to swim to get food.

RATS ARENT SLOTHS. even if a rat did have to go in water to try to catch food, or it got flooded, or what not, rats can tread water for 3 days straight, thus would not have to "catch its breath." And another thing, this is a brown rat. this means it is the domesticated type. snakes only feed on black rats, becvause they are solitary. brown rats travel in very large packs, so large that they attack and kill large dogs, and yes, even snakes.

brown rats live pretty much everywhere except the 2 polars. Rats will generally avoid all snakes unless the size of their pack out numbers the size of the snake by about 2:1. Rofl... most snakes are ambush hunters in the wild. Rats get eaten by them ALL the time. If snakes didn't eat rats... we would be swimming in rodents and disease. Snakes don't go flat-out chasing after rodents, with the exception of the black mamba and a few others which move VERY fast.
The acceleration of a snake's strike is often 10-20x faster than the reaction and avoidance jump of a rodent. The only factors are: distance, angle of attack, accuracy, and awareness level of the prey.

Well, even if they outnumbered a king cobra, the longest venomous snake in the world, they wouldn't mess with it because its bite can inject among the most venom of any snake. they can kill an elephant in 3 hrs. 5-30 mins on humans. imagine them getting bit by a king. If I may say so, this green anaconda was quite, beautiful, but he didn't need to feed it live ( please respond if you can)

People who watch the show meerkat manor will know what I'm talking about- you know when the meerkats come across a snake, they will insticntively gang up on it, even though it is bad for both partys.

I do watch meerkat manor, but do you see how hey will keep trying to frighten away the snake? not harm it? Most animals keep away from kings. But kings are quite shy and would most likely shy away and go and somewhere else than stand its ground. Everything is cautious of kings, so they normally stay away from them. kings don't like to waste their venom either.

You are assuming that rats can tread water for 3 days straight?! We must assume the water isn't too cold.. rats will die of hypothermia VERY fast in cold water, regardless of the heat generated by exercise.
Most rats drown in water within 15-30 minutes of finding themselves unable to get out of the water.
Brown rats are not always in packs. Yes, they can and will eat other animals including snakes... but they still get killed and eaten all the time by snakes and other animals.

A solution to this problem would be like the guy with the offensive name said: to convince the pet industry to use hamsters instead of rats. They are nowhere near as intelligent as rats, and they bite people more often when kept as pets. Rats can learn quickly to appreciate you if you are kind to them. Rats > Hamsters. However, hamsters are more expensive. It's a shame.

They have been selectively bred by man for thousands of generations for over a century and are genetically distinct from wild rats.
Domestic rats are harmless, slow, passive, and docile compared to wild rats. In fact, scientists are considering appending the subspecies "domesticus" to their scientific name, just as dogs are classified as a subspecies of the gray wolf.

Lab rats and pet/fancy/feeder rats are all domesticated. In fact, most pet rats are descended from lab rats. All domestic rats originate from late 19th century rat catchers like Jack Black in Victorian England.
