I can understand your general frustration at anthropologists, friend, but this is badly directed and you make some stupid assumptions.
The first is that my professor is white, and a man. Of course, he is, but he's also close friend to many natives and works closely with the native nations in our area.
The second is that I didn't get my information from native sources, when in fact my sources are varied. Some are from native outlets, some from texts, and plenty from wikipedia.
What happened to the native Americans of this great country was very sad but it had to be done to promote the new ideals and revolutions of freedom and equality from Europe.

Native Americans have a similar approach to land as my culture does - Maori Polynesian from New Zealand. The attitude is that the land is living, and needs to be respected. The dont want to own it, that cannotes that it is in their possession and they can do what they please with it, but they do want the peace of mind that they can roam free and know that 'their' lan will not be disturbed - this right has been stolen from them.

Of course the word indian is in there; it's the term most indigenous people in this country are comfortable with.
Also, AIM isn't exclusively made up of Sioux, though it is one of the groups that is heavily represented. That's not surprising, as they're one of the most impoverished and repressed groups, even to this day.
And as for your last, ignorant comment, are you saying that people should just conform, give up their culture, and allow themselves to take part in imperialistic society?

Just for your information, the Mohawk facing the Canadian soldier, the soldier was French, from the French Regiment and spoke no English, he couldn't understand what was being said to him, by the Mohawk Worrier. He wasn't a very good soldier either, spent some time in military prison.

Msg 1:Interesting point. It's apart of colonisation and assimilation. Their culture as been suppressed, and discorouged by non Native Americans. Over time, this has a huge effect on ones culture - I know this from experience, I am Maori (from New Zealand). Maori however were able to fight this far more successfully... I guess children have learnt a more Black American type culture through the media etc since theirs has been effectively suppressed.

Native Americans have a similar approach to land as my culture does - Maori Polynesian from New Zealand. The attitude is that the land is living, and needs to be respected. The dont want to own it, that cannotes that it is in their possession and they can do what they please with it, but they do want the peace of mind that they can roam free and know that 'their' lan will not be disturbed - this right has been stolen from them.

The violence is not important. What we should take as learning from Natives, is their understanding of hidden meanings. They are even better than the most mystic lamas IMO. Violence is just energy used to kill. Everyone is able to be violent, as well as peaceful.
