Spore is wierd.

Its not like you go play GTA, ME, Assasin's Creed, MW2, Bioshock, KOTOR and then you're like..I heard spore was good- maybe I should play that next.

It just doesn't even connect in my understanding of a traditional game. It has its own tone to it, its very addictive if you get caught in it, in many ways its a tribute to your imagination- if you like customizing and feeling like every action should have a consiquence its a game for you. Kinda nerdy in a way but still really cool.

The point is this. This game has the most appealing FEATURES EVER in any game EVER made. But the fact is this game has NO DEPTH AT ALL! A game designed around evolution should be programmed to play that way. Every single aspect of this game is pre determined LOL. The only thing that ISN'T is creating.

Ok, about that "this equals THIS equals THIS".... It's unnecessary!! You can easily switch behaviours between stages. Why might one think there are space stage archetypes? Just because you start off with religious cities in civ stage, why not convert a military city and bring the rain? You can do that. Yep. I understand the guy's dilemma, but I don't really think of this as a dull review because you haven't really covered all parts of the game (archetypes? Superpowers? Omnivores??).

this game is realy fun, altough.. i got to space in like 5-8 hours in my first try :P, but, in space stage there are alot of things to do, like get to the center of the universe and completeing quests(i got galactic adcentur so quest's are extra fun) so i would say buy spore :D

(I got a downloaded verson and its awesome that way, so if u buy it and play it is much more fun)

I think there should have been a way to make the game more challenging. I think when you first start it up it should be on this easy mode but via some kind of obvious yet well implemented choice, players could up the difficulty level gradually to something that would satisfy "hardcore" players.

I wouldn't call my self a hardcore player, but what I find really annoying is that you can only have 3 trade routes, command only one ship and planets are always being attacked by pirates, disasters and such which is a pain in the ass because you cant go very far from your empire without being requested back. If you could control multiple ships and could use only one to go to a planet at a time it would be easy to maintain a large empire.

the whole game comprised of pressing 4 buttons and only lasted about 5-6 hours... the game sims which seems miniscule in comparison (neighborhood vs. universe LOL) i spent prolly 50+ hours playing when it came out and i still continue to play it on occaision. spore is now a very expensive coaster
