I created the dalek using 3D Studio and tracked it into the shot using Voodoo then rotoscoped in Photoshop. My daughter is saying "What are you?" and screams "Mom, Dad!"

It's done in 3ds Max. Voodoo is free, just do a search for voodoo camera tracker. There are free 3d programs like Blender which you can use to create the models etc.
