I agree completely. But I find myself in a different situation. Mentioning my favorite artist in a face-to-face conversation, sometimes I get insulted for that. The artist is Eminem, so you can see the reason for this controversy. People trash my opinion, telling me that all he raps about is his hate for women, his ex-wife Kim, and how his life has been terrible. I ask them how they know these things and they tell me they listen to him. I often wonder why they listen to him if he's so god-awful.

Well to me, music is my entire life. I don't trash anyone's music. I'm not particularly fond of rave, techno and that kind of music, but I don't say anything about it. It annoys me when someone tells me all rock (not just metal, but ROCK) is screaming and flailing guitars. I get annoyed when people are ignorant about my type of music and just trash it to annoy me. I like to think of myself as an overall music appropriate. I love songs made that show people's true talents and that showcase real emotion, I also like songs that are sung very well and that have fun lyrics. I love synthpunk, classical music, 80's 90's music, and I make sure I support people with real artistic talent struggling, whether it's an amazing pianist or beautiful singer on youtube or a stunning writer on a teen writing website.
