  • Holy smokes, this is magnificent! o.O

So much classical awesomeness all at once... <3

  • This is absolutely stunning................

  • krull forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This was a pretty good film that was somehow forgotten and grossly underrated. Had a great score too.

  • Does Liam Neeson died in every film???????????

  • @soyfandebttf in a way, yes ! I dont know why that is, even in most of his tv appearences.

  • I like the part when the cyclops goes splat between the mountain doors HAHAHAHAHA LOL!!!!!

  • God how i love this movie and it's theme song!!!!!!

  • @AzelRavenWood it blends science fiction and fantasy together like star wars and the dark crystal

  • @volkswag12 Oh, that is a really good discription. Not to mention two other movies that are also awesome and were a part of my childhood.

  • @AzelRavenWood Detach the random God expression and then i agree ( after all there are 10 000's of gods in human religious history...you might wanna be a bit more specific !

  • @CrusaderKarl I guess that makes sense lol. Lets say the Christian God.

  • Recently saw this film. To me its like watching professional Dungeon and Dragon Players and DM's at work. Great Plot, great characters and great music

  • Huh. From about 4:15 to about 5:00, Horner seems to be borrowing heavily from Holtz's "Mars, Bringer of War". Not that he's the only one that's done it, I just never noticed until now.

  • Grand Elemental: Well, rest assured - you've been listening to the best part of the movie's special effects for years. The movie itself? Welll ... let's be fair - it tried living up to its score but didn't succeed completely. ;-)

  • One of my top 10 favorite Sci-Fi movies. I dream of the day when either BudK or Sideshow toys releases a replica of the Glave. Love it.

  • If you have never seen Krull where the fuck have you been on Sunday afternoon on ITV? Or was it a BBC 2 job? can't remember but, yeah sod those Hobbit movies this is fantasy movie 101! Krull, Willow, Dragon Slayer, Dungeons and Dragons 80's cartoon. Are the must sees, then you can watch those ring movies!

  • I've never seen the movie, but I've been enjoying the soundtrack for years now. Horner is one of the greatest composers there is!

  • Damn!!! I love this score so much and the movie that I have it on VHS & DVD, damn, i'm gonna buy it on Blu-ray when they release it. Oh, I forgot to say that I had it also on Beta as a kid. LOL Love it!

  • @draggo07 beta freaking ROCKS!...

  • one of the movies of my childhood. but the best moment came years later in world of warcraft. we stood in onyxias lair and as i looked around, i become aware of a little programmers gimmick. the shape of the glaive in the lava. I just turned to the main tank and said: "Hey, why didn't you just grab in the lava, put that glaive out and we show that dragon, how the boss is." Now... that would truly be an epic weapon.

  • Brilliant score! one of the best scores i heard in a Sci-fi fantasy epic movie which is a pure guilty pleasure.

  • I love the movie!

Horner HAs Copied his music from Star Trek II and changed a little.

  • i just had an accident of epic proportions

  • I once saw this movie, but I forgot what it was called and I wanted so to see it so badly.

The only thing I DID remember was the Glaive.

One day, I was shopping at Best Buy with my mom, and I saw the DVD, and I recognized the Glaive and knew this HAD to be the movie I was looking for.

  • THIS IS SO FANTASTIC IM ABSOLUTLEY INLOVE WITH THIS MOVIE!!! CAN'T BELIVE HOW MUCH I MISSED IT

  • THIS IS SO FANTASTIC IM ABSOLUTLEY INLOVE WITH THIS MOVIE

  • I am Ergo the Magnificent. Small in stature, tall in power, narrow a purpose and wide in vision....

  • @Bishniak

and i do not travel with peasents and beggers goodbye.

  • god I loved this movie as a kid!!!

  • Let me say, I am sick, but when I listen to this music the sickness goes away.

  • Particularly like the part that starts at 06:35

  • The general consensus among a lot of critics at the time was that the film itself was rubbish, but the music was excellent.

  • @MrRazorz yeah well what do critics know... lol... I loved them both :)

  • R.I.P Peter Yates

  • I HAVE IT ON DVD

  • Quite possibly one of the greatest soundtracks ever composed...

  • Comment removed

  • 5:11 is heard on Star Trek II as well...and a lot of Horner's work resemble clearly Rachmaninoff's first symphony and "Mars", from the suite "The Planets", composed by Gustav Holst.

All his works have the same themes, with a few variations...it is, at the same time, good and bad...good if you like to recognize familiar tunes on his soundtracks...and bad when you start to realize that Horner does'nt have very much creativity...

  • @thebiochemistry Well spotted

  • 2:13 Wrath of Khan anybody? I here a resemblance

  • This is the first vid I've come across ever... with 0 dislikes. Hope I don't jinx it.

  • damn ive been looking for this movie for soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo long without knowing the title of it . finally!! thank you!!

  • They just don't make movies like they used too

  • Comment removed

  • It sounds like something that would be in a Star Trek movie (just listening to the sound without watching the picture brings the Enterprise out in front of your eyes)

  • @GuillermoTemblalanza You've got a good ear. He composed music for Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan and Aliens just to name a couple.

  • this was of the best movies when i was going up

    horner

  • Say what you want about action and effects, but it's the music that truly makes the film.

  • He explores some of these themes in ST Wrath of Khan. Really enjoyable.

  • great battle music before wrath

  • I realized after several decades of watching this movie that, actually, I am Colwyn - so I'm pretty flattered that Horner wrote the greatest soundtrack ever for the occasion of my existence. Thanks J. Ho...

  • fantastic score, breathtaking adventurous stuff....a real guilty pleasure

  • James Horner is a genius!

  • James Horner was only 27 or so, when he composed, orchestrated and conducted this score with the wonderful London Symphony Orchestra and the Ambrosion Singers (male, female and children's choir) Wow, wow, wow! Sadly modern movies don 't allow music to breathe... everything has to be cool, and scenes flick by, like hyperactive whatevers. Result, music cannot breathe. Sad.

  • @Kalecommando I think the movie Heart String Marionette will change that. :D

    I hope I'm not wrong!

  • @Kalecommando nah... horner, shore, howard, and elfman still compose :D

  • @Kalecommando He was 30 but yeah. He's awesome.

  • This is one of my favourite fantasy movies. Excellent musical score and great script.

  • Horner at his best ! The best years for creativity !

  • get two minutes in and you will know what dreams are made of

  • A magical 80's film i never got to see on cinema. And with it a great orchestral score by the legendary James Horner. I hope nobody thinks of ruining things by doing a remake.

  • @BuddyFantastic Good God, I agree! Last thing we need is Shia lebuf or however you spell his name, staring as kolwynn

  • I'm trying to figure out why everyone is HATING on this movie. Now I'm not big into fantasy movies, I'm more of an action movie guy, but this combines them both into a GREAT movie that I loved as a kid, so quit hatin' people! Sit down and watch it and use your imagination like you were as a kid!

  • awesome

  • I just want to get into an M1A1 Abrams tank and destroy all the terrorists of this foreign conflict that terrorize children, women, and innocents with this theme song ringing proudly from the exterior of my tank. This is an 80's gem theme, an 80's cinema masterpiece, and a legendary fantasy that I'd like to have come true in my own way. I will always seek the Black Fortress. The Beast and his Slayers appear in many forms.

  • They had a video game of Krull back in 1983.

  • This is one case where the music outshone the movie by far. The movie was pretty good in it's day. However the music was and still is more epic than the movie by far. It really was a kick ass score! I am a professional tubist and I can speak for the tuba in this movie.....the tuba rocked! I bought the movie JUST for the tuba solo that was in the score.

  • @belugafishgod Oh my gosh! I played the tuba from middle school through college! You have to contact me!

  • This is one of the greatest scores of all time, I think it's even a bit better than The Lord of The Rings. I can't believe this wasn't even nominated for an oscar for best original score. It should have won in my opinion.

  • @FireTiger941 Too many similarities to Star Trek II and other previous works. Still good, though.

  • my god this soundtrack is incredible....figures horner wrote it

  • Excellent music for a bad movie (but a little bit magical).

My favourite soundtrack: Alien by the great Jerry Goldsmith!!

    I miss u Jerry!!

  • James Horner is still one of my favorite modern day composers for movie soundtracks...

  • I must agree that Horner's score's do sound similar, this one, Trek II and III, and Battle Beyond The Stars all have certain sequences that repeat themselves but I still love them all as they were all part of my moviegoing youth and it's still great to hear them today.

  • Can you imagine if this movie was remade with today's CGI and technology. It would be spectacular! The Widow of the Web would be interesting in and of itself.

  • @Penfold8 No it wouldn't. It was great the way it was. I am damn tired of CG animation. It's all shit and it is ruining films. Pretty soon we're gonna' rely on technology for everything. How lazy?! Creativity has gone down the hole with this generation.

  • Although I agree with you that some CG is screwing up films, I will have to disagree with you in the Creativity aspect of it. If anything the creativity through use of CGI can be increased 10 fold. There is a fine line an 8 out of 10 the film makers miss the mark. For instance when Yoda went CGI I believe it lost a lot of the character and individuality, but imagine the Crystal Spiders if it was redone. You wouldn't have the jerky and very fake looking movements. It would be smooth.

  • @Penfold8 I wasn't aware that as humans we moved smooth as liquid.

  • @ LandoftheShanks. What the hell are you talking about. I never once mention liquid. I said that movements would be smooth in terms of not jerky. I am sorry that you are having problems wrapping your mind around the concept. Perhaps if I would have said "Fluid Motion" you might have understood.

  • @Penfold8 I was actually referring to the fact that a lot of computer generated animation looks liquefied and my comment didn't require being on the bad end of your attitude as a response.

  • @Penfold8 True- but the acting probably wouldn't be as good- as the vast majority of people used here were a group of fantastic classically trained British/Irish actors- a remake would most likely involve young American actors who couldn't lend as much gravitas to proceedings. Also, too much scope for creativity can really make for a bad film, as so much of the script/character development is scrapped in favour of an epic set piece.

  • @silverfish1983

That is very true, and good point on that aspect!

  • @landoftheShanks. You have your opinions and I have mine. I think that's where this debate should be left, because it's going to get no where fast. I will leave it at that. Take care!

  • Star Krull II: The Wrath of Khan

  • Playing For Keeps II: The Wrath of Kahn!

  • thank youor uploading!!!!!!

    5 starz!!!!!

You rule...oh I remember this flick from my boyhood ^^

you guys remember the Sindad movies and Clash of the Titans?

    those were the days :c

  • This is a great soundtrack. Not a great movie, but great soundtrack!

  • James Horner...He started really well with Krull and Wrath of Khan, but he's gotten steadily lazier and lazier in my opinion, copying himself etc. Don't get me wrong, he is a great composer, but I definitely think Krull and Khan are his best works, followed by Willow and Braveheart.

But the rest are all self-rip-offs and worse. Troy gives me a headache and don't get me started on Titanic (chokes on cheeze...)

To think he almost snagged Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings...phew! Close 1

  • Don't forget The Rocketeer and both Zorro scores.

I think he's still got it. Let's see what he does with "Avatar."

  • OH MY GOD! I concur with EVERYTHING said here and am SO grateful that we have a medium to share our thoughts like this...Beautiful music by Mr Horner, spine tingling even now but ESPECIALLY as a kid this whole soundtrack to the various scenes of the film RIPPED into my soul and i LOVE him for it...thank god he was finally recognised with TITANIC etc for their box office smashes but this is so amazing throughout the whole film love it x

  • Absolutely agree with Valkiri801 and DetroitLove4u: one of my all-time favourite pieces of music. I worked on a potato-harvester in Penola, South Australia for three months and I don't know how many times I thought of this music to while away the tedium.

  • i've always thought this was a great film, and i remember the soundtrack giving me goosebumps as a kid. and now i look at the posts and see that other people have the same feelings about this movie. awesome. that's what's great about youtube.

  • thats absolut right

  • I HAVE THIS ON VINYL

  • I've loved this music since I was a kid. It's like "Star Trek" meets "Lord of the Rings."

  • This music is wonderful! It is over-done, bombastic and well endowed like a woman with fat breasts! God How I Love It!

  • @Valkiri801 One of the funniest replies to a film theme I've ever heard.

  • @Valkiri801 LOL perfect description!!!

  • this is the best fucking soundtrack ever..some1 remix it

  • Truly a fantastic musical score. This soudtrack would have been put up in the category of all time classic if the film had been more popular at the box office. A real shame as this is arguably Horner's best work. Keep it coming James!!

  • The recognition he failed to receive with this he made up for with "Titanic". That movie stayed in theaters for nearly a year and "My Heart Will Go On" which he wrote, was in the top ten even longer.

  • Great Movie Great Score THE MUSIC OF CHAMPIONS, HEROES, LEGENDS, WARRIORS, etc. Simply the best simply the 80's!!

  • Holy fuck, easily one of the best movie scores of all time.

  • Very Uplifting soundtrack.

  • One of my favorite movies as a kid - wow. Hadn't heard this in YEARS. Thanks for posting!

  • Quality classic.

  • James Horner is great!!!!
