the Gibson L-00 was made from wood aged for decades. today a L-00's wood was cut at least 100 years ago. No guitar made today has the depth of tone as a guitar this old. Of course the condition and playability are very important. Some of you knuckleheads (you know if you're one) arguing about who makes the best guitars are silly. Guitars are individuals.spend a week or two at Sam Ash or Mandolin Bros., play a few hundred axes and then you might be qualified to state an opinion!
yeah yamaha makes some pretty sweet sounding acoustics in the L series and whatnot, but gibson is a VERY reliable brand. then again, most of the gibson acoustics fail to impress me. the only gibson acoustics that are worth the buy are the J45 and the classic gibson 'songbird'
I think it varies from guitar to guitar and personal taste! Some people love Gibson and some people hate them and this can be said for all guitar makers! One thing is for sure, you should never buy a guitar just because your favorite artist plays one unless you truely love the sound. YouTube videos is not the place to decide if the sound of a guitar is good because again they vary from one to another and nothing beats up close and in person! Cheers!
I don't care who made the guitar, there are good ones and bad ones. According to legend Taylor is the most reliable with producing good guitars. I've played Gibsons that were great and Gibsons that were bad, same goes for Martin, out of 100 Martin's I've played only two of them sounded good. Play everything and pick out the one you love.
I recommend that you disregard everything you think you know about the guitars. Play them both. Go with the one that feels and plays the best, that sings to you.

Gibsons are overpriced,, i picked up a Gibson and a Takamine, and the Gibson doesnt even compare in sound quality... Takamines have a great sound should check it out... or go for a Martin!! Gibsons acoustic are no good unless they are antiques..
horse shit dude. u dont know shit about sound if you really think that. that flat empty sound of a takamine. go get an ear and come back and comment later.
i got my j-185 for $1678 and it would whoop that alluminum sounding guitar to shreds. Ill tell you one damn thing a takamine is better than and thats a taylor. and do you really think that a youtube video is the way to tell?
no i own the good dam takamine after first picking up a gibson sitting right next to it... i played the gibson, sounded plain and like any guitar i owned previously with a slightly better tone...
you pay £700 for a gibson and its made of HPL .. i think MARTINS are the best acoustics.

i like the hummingbird and the J45... they are both in the 1000-2000 area.. the hummingbird looks good and sounds good, but crap compared to almost all martins, and taylors... the J45 looks good in pictures but in real life looks really tacky.. J45 sounds OK but playes like crap,,neck is way to varnished and grippy uncomfatable to play. gibson craftmanship is a joke...
and infact theres not many over 2000 that are good, the j200 is good and thats it... gibsons have nice designs thats the only reason why i would buy one... craftmanship and sound, is noway near the quality of martins,, or taylors,, not so big on taylors but played a 2000 used taylor today and it sounded absolutely amazing.... ppl that buy gibson probally only buy it cuse their favourtie rockstar has one,,,, and they only buy it cause of the look not playability or sound..
how would you rate this guitar beginners middle or pro ?
thank you.

Very nice, good to see an L-00, this was my first guitar, the original 1935-7, the 2007 model is beautifully recreated.
