  • did that kid at the end miss the train? lol

  • I like these vids, but I'm giving this a thumbs down solely because you're begging for subs in the annotations. Blah.

  • why isnt the locomotive smoking?

  • I like Trains

  • @GuitarKidTV Me to

  • @ervans me 3

  • Now, is it just me, or were the last three cars on that train the tail end of a Burlington Zephyr?

  • Beautiful! Greetings from Poland!

  • Im i the only one who hates seeing a steamer with a desiel rite up its ass. What are they afriad the steamers cant pull a train anymore?? >:( Steam enien- tender- passenger cars. maybe a caboos. No desiel. Theydo this with 3985 to. Better not ever with the CAO 614.

  • Someone told me before that the desil loco is in a "neutral" or something.... but it powers the cars.... and that it's there to also assist in mountain climbing; is this true?

  • I have to say this is a very average train and does not require the full satifiscation that i get looking at the eurostars and ferraris now they are nice trains

  • 0:42

    Car engine start up...

  • 0:56

  • @kevkevin22 Someone shouted SHUT UP???

  • 14

  • ... did you drive off and leave your children behind ? ... mightn't the Indians capture them and put them in a cooking pot ?

  • This would have been a great video if you had panned on the engine.

  • What a good looking train.

  • Is it still activate?

  • C00L

  • was the first one pulling a steam engine?

  • Why was the Genesis there? That locomotive could have easily pulled that train single-handedly..

  • @canobiecrazy Yes,They use to Amtrak for a generator for power to the cars. Otherwise just getting pulled by the beautiful Daylight

  • @ervans

I thought steam engines could supply their own power with the generator (which should be more than enough)

  • @ervans Don't they use it for dynamic braking as well?

  • @canobiecrazy I know it's a little late, but I "Think" the Genesis or any other Diesel loco are now required for the dynamic braking. I think power for the passenger cars come from some generator type rail car. Cause before these diesels started being used the older passenger trains still had lights and stuff. Could be wrong though.

  • those carriages could do with some graffiti

  • Why don't you use a tripod ????

  • @Lakeside1943 I was chasing the train and didn't have time to set it up

  • Amtrak has sponsored again...

  • why do the steam trains need help

  • Where is the steam?

  • Nice HD wish more people would do it. PERFECT>

  • do they even have those trains those kinda trains...

    .old 0:

  • Ugly mix of old and new.. better if all old or all new theme :(

  • Vote to have UP Steam visit your town at - x.up(dot)com/3084

  • honestly the P42 kinda ruined the whole effect for me

  • never seen that before. amtrak power on a southern pacific train

  • Did that kid just say arsehole?

  • @arrivinglotus Well yeah, I mean his dad drove away and forgot him.

  • @heronblackmane - Bad parenting much? :P

  • this steam locamotive is impressive, the Vegas X train company should buy one of these locamotive and used it for thier Xtrain for the trip from L.A. to Las Vegas next year.

  • This reminds me of the movie "Tough Guys" with Kirk Douglas and Burt Lancaster.

  • locomotieves are the only railroad trains who can pull alot of cabins incl some containers etc.

ultimate power saw last time whit sand loaded train pew like 160 i counted by 1 loco

  • 0:59-1:00 WTF LOL! Just kids playing tag or did they miss their train LOL!

  • who was that kid screaming?

  • @trainlover479 that was the turbine for the head lamp no kid screaming in this video

  • no not when the train is passing, after it

  • 0:58-1:02 LOL .... but the video is nice

  • 0:58

  • Historic rolling musuems, how long will it last....???

  • I'm peeved that I knew nothing about the Daylight coming to Michigan. It was practically in my backyard when it came through Indiana.

  • who owns #4449 now?

  • That's just like what the Spot in Niles Canyon is like. Come by and visit us soon, our next 2472 operations will be in March.

  • Don't forget 2472

  • Listen to the sound of that steam engine chugging along, they just don't make that kind of classic sound anymore. the amtrak i'm used to.

  • Yes your right about that. Did you see the video I uploaded today? It has a great sound.

  • Why does a diesel drive along? Is it a spare one, in case the steamer is in trouble? Nive vid, however!

  • exactly that reason.

when UP steam fires up the 844, it runs with a diesel.

  • What a shame.. The running diesel totally spoils the purity of the steamlocomotive. Thanks for the info.

    Is the 844 so unreliable?

  • it is there purely as a safety back up, and when extreme trains on history channel follwed the 844, the up diesel was simply along for the ride. if for example there is a problem at a station and the locomotives has to extinguish its fire, it has no way of moving, so UP tow a diesel along.

844 is one of the most cherished, cared for and pampered locomotives on the rails.

  • It seems to be common in many other cases with steam locos. What I been thinking about if it is a demand from the owner of the network that a diesel is coming along to push the train into a siding if it fails or if it is a helper loco cause that museum piece no longer can be pushed to haul the entire weight of the train. That is what I been thinking about.

  • there was an incident a while back here in the UK when a train broke down in edinburgh station, behind it on the forth bridge was a steam special, it could not move forwards into the next sector because that sector was blocked by a broken down train, they had to extinguish the fire. a diesel had to come up the tracks and tow it into edinburgh

  • @MajSolo or maybe it just looks cool? i dunno

  • @keonisan yeah sounded like steam ..but ...where was the steam?????

  • @keonisan Love that classic chugging sound.

  • Wow, that is nice. You don't see too many of those anymore.

  • Thanks

  • you need a tripod, badly.

  • My thoughts too, or a much better one.

  • Beautifull! , what a sound. and very nice surrounding. It's very different compared to our holland's one.

  • Thanks for your comment

  • Too cool.

  • Thanks

  • They use to Amtrak for a generator for power to the cars. Otherwise just getting pulled by the beautiful Daylight

  • what's with the Amtrak P42 locomotive?

  • It's used for dynamic braking. It's required by law.

  • She sounds beautiful.

  • now that's a variety of cars

  • this is the best shot of 4449 ive ever seen

  • Nice video .. good work

  • my favorite steam engine of all time...

  • That was not bad !!

  • this would make a good shining time station intro

  • lol he's hauling an amtrak engine

  • well you gotta have a backup engine in case something breaks....right???

  • no I just thought it was kinda funny seeing a steamer hauling a diesel. Usally it would be the other way around.
