I have been doing the same thing for 15 years. WOW I thought I was the only one doing this. This is way cool. I found something that works better then the blow torch.
Use a embossing gun.

@WCPilch I feel like embossing guns run the risk of having your acrylic/resin bubbling up more because they take longer
