  • damn

  • damn

  • John Idan on lead guitar.

  • @MrYardbird69 thanks, i didnt see the year or his post

  • is this Beck, Clapton, or Page on lead

  • Not the Yardbirds to me...

  • But how did you actually like the music? Which is all that really matters.

  • @MrYardbird69 It's good. It is one of my favorites from the late 60's

  • Only 2 YB's! Not much of a reunion!

  • ke cancion mas buena

  • My favorite version of this song

  • @rareone2369 Yeah, it's a rocking version! Please have listen to my cover too!

  • nice cover

  • Az ilyen dolgokért érdemes élni!!!! Köszönöm ezt a feltöltést!!!!! Egyébként megvettem ezt a lemezt,és nagy becsben tartom!!!!!

  • I like this song very much. John Idan look quite like Jeff Beck although the picture of him at 0:24 is misleading because he is playing a bass and not lead guitar. Keep going mates, I like your sound.

  • The revolutopm of music had begun...ahead of thier time..still!!

  • Btw, didn't mean to say Relf didn't write any lyrics or melodies. Just that the Yardbirds wouldn't be the Yardbirds without him.

  • What does a band do when the lead singer dies.......some bands fold and some move on. When a non singing band member dies, he is replaced. Of course when the lead singer dies, the chances of finding someone to copycat the original singer is nil. Funny, but many start to criticize the remaking of bands and singers even singing songs of the original sound/band....now why is that? RIP Keith, hope you know your band plays on.Thanks for your music.

  • my new favorite version... how its done at my place

  • They could use st Joes square in Oslo cyberattack the story of 'phi' metaphor Pythagoras right angle triangle Hey Joe where you going with that genii gun in your had. 'L' Command in Chief of Canada the compass 'A' and square 'L'

  • Bring on that Yardbirds' style of The Leaves, Hey Joe.....RIP Keith.

  • @2125554200 the leaves i think

  • Time Rose is great but I think Jimi rulz this song same as with some of his Dylan covers!

  • Straight cover of Jimi's. Nothing new.

  • Nice cover, but. tim rose rulz :-o

  • @2125554200 its credited to billy roberts but theres evidence it was an old traditional from what i can gather...

  • Not Jeff Beck...it's John Idan on lead guitar.

  • fantastic version, I mean it had to be good if you are going to cover a legends song. But this version really stands up, different to hendrix but as good with a great recording and guitar sound /solo, is it Beck?

  • Relf was essential to their sound...

  • the song stil has jeff beck, it takes a min, but the song does get warmed up by beck, who sounds like he`s having a good time listen again your right there is no keith ( and who got the job ) but beck is really good , nice tone on his guitar to !!! who wrote the song tim rose ??? think so ... so for maybe a time gig not that bad,... shit it a cover !!!! in 1965 & 1966 jeff & Dave of the kinks ruled who was playing hot leads like them in good songs too

  • @thekingsley1956 That is not Beck playing. According to the album notes it is a guitarist named John Idan. Although at the very end you can hear the singer say "Thank you Jimmy". Perhaps Page was a guest performer at the show. Does not sound like him to me though.

  • @spyguys lol i really thought it was hendrix

  • Hey this was and still is the good stuff... this song all & all went on

  • c'est quoi ce gag ???

  • Love the Yardbirds and Jimmi, but the Leaves did this spng FAR better

  • fantastic version of this classic song

  • Those violin bass guitars really look cheesy nowadays. Can you imagine a metal band using one? Ol Paul liked em.

  • The Yardbirds with Chris Dreja & Jim Mccarty are at Tangers in Akron Ohio on May 23.

  • Sorry, but you couldn`t really reprise the Yardbirds in this fan`s opinion without Keith Relf, no matter whether you had Clapton, Page, Beck or all three on guitar. Keith Relf was essential to their sound...

  • relf was incredible! i love his voice and will always be one of my favorite singers of all time--i saw the yardbirds a few years ago with chris dreja and jim mccarty as the only original members playing and the lead singer and bassist john idan...wow! he captured relf's voice so well! still, as much as he totally made the concert all the more authentic sounding, nothing beats the real deal.

  • Thanks for the comment. My point is that too many bands are passing themselves off as the real thing when the only real thing about them is the name. For example Mike Love, Alan Jardine and a few others are passing themselves off as the Beach Boys without Carl and Dennis Wilson. Paul Revere and the Raiders are playing oldies shows without Mark Lindsay. And the Temptations are continuing to tour with one original member, who was not any of the legendary lead vocalists. The almighty dollar...

  • a bamd calling themselves CCR played at the casino here in my town last yr . Not a Fogerty to be seen in the band .Also see todays Thin Lizzy, but be prepared to be disgusted. Humble Pie with no Marriott ?please

  • and jim mccarty

  • Yep, he too was very special. Thanks.

  • @pilesovinyl Totally, and he had an incredible voice when you consider the severe respiratory problems he had.

  • @pilesovinyl No doubt about that! Same with the Rolling Stones and the "fading away" of Brian Jones. Jones didn't write any songs, but he not only played over 10 different instruments, as well as taught Mic Jagger how to play the harmonica, he played lead guitar interchangeably with Richards. IOWs, though he didn't write or complete any songs, he was a big influence in the unique "sound" of the early Rolling Stones. Same with Relf. May he RIP.

  • @MrSamram3

Plus...he also started the Rolling Stones before Mick and Keith joined the band.

He did not get credited for his work on a lot of the songs.

The sitar sound in Paint It Black, etc...

Brian was also working on a project outside of the Stones with Jimi Hendrix but died before that worked out.

  • @Orion579 - Hello brother! I'm aware of all of that. It's a shame that Brian died so young. So many Stones fans don't realize how much he influenced their early sound, or, as you said, that he founded and named the band from the get-go! And as far as Relf and guitar bands like the Yardbirds go, well, let's just hope one day they make a comeback. (That is, guitar bands make a comeback!) .

  • @MrSamram3 Brian was the soul of the RS!!!!!

  • @mlong1954 yes sir he was . agreed .

  • @Orion579 no no no sir, He was part of the founding of the group, but mick and keith were the originals. They played blues clubs all over london with various groups under different names until they found Brian. you are sorely mistaken

  • @pilesovinyl - Absolutely!

  • Jimi The Great Hendrix-Best one

    best guitarplayer ever

  • hendrix DID NOT write this .. and to any experienced musician, HENDRIX's music wasnt complicated articulate music, but alot of distortion and attitude..which is great but doesnt make HIM A GREAT

  • Great musicians make complex music seem simple to the publics ears. Take Beethoven's 5th symphony for example. Simple melody but try to write one like that.

As far as Jimi Hendrix being all "distortion and attitude" he certainly used both of those things as elements of his totality. But have you heard songs that Hendrix wrote such as Little Wing, Wait Until Tomorrow, Castles Made of Sand, etc? Jimi's ears where open to all music and he used complexity when a song called for it.

  • strange, I was going to use Beethoven as an example of simple music that is amazingly wonderful. It doesnt have to be complicated and cluttered up to be great. examples of simple and great songs; Moonlight Sonata, Hey Jude, Something (Beatles), Smells Like Teen Spirit, Communication Breakdown, Canon in D, Greensleeves, Walking in the Air, Fur Elise, Just Like Heaven... there are so many songs that are wonderful and simple. Some songs are pure and the sum of the instuments merely serve the song

  • Well fuckin' put, mate!!!

People give too much credit to him...the only reason he is considered a great is because he died young.

And SO true - he didn't write or perform articulate, complicated music...

  • about flippin time : someone who has a musical palatte. it is easy to call someone genious when MTV or CNN does so, geez go against the grain and take it for what it is. if hendrix were ALIVE today he would be an antiquated, dated, and wouldnt sell any albums. people arent in love with hendrix's talent, but his mystique

  • Well ladies and gentlemen we've got a true genuine fortune teller in our mids!

Lets define a genius: genius refers to a level of capability or achievement which exceeds even that of most other exceptional contemporaries in the same field..

Back in the days he even stunned Eric Clapton.. And as we all know, Clapton = God so: Jimi > Clapton makes Jimi > God.. I pressume we now all understand that Jimi in fact was a genius!

  • Dude.. I'm a huge fan of Hendrix and I'm not a fan because he died young. My retarded little neighbour died young and banged the xylophone like a mad man, yet i don't have any cd's of him..

Start listening to his music: wind cries mary, if 6 were a 9, bold as love, crosstown traffic, castles made of sand.

Yep, I dislike his weird solos while he was on the stage.. But he had to be radical to get the sounds he wanted to be on the album. Listen to bold as love and ya know what i'm talking about!

  • oh man i' gonna use that line rofl

  • Hendrix had feeling and at the time one of the most ridiculous soloing skills anyone had ever seen. he would take typical songs like Dylans All Along the Watchtower and make them absolutely epic. it was his wardrobe, voice and his stage antics that made him one of the greats

  • You just said that Dylan's "along the watchtower" was "TYPICAL" wow you really are unversed aren't you. Had I said that , I already would have posted an apology" You, my friend just proved my point, I thank you. When I saw in my email i had a reply, I thought, great an educated debate. I am disappointed my friend, you out debated yourself. KUDOS

  • All along the watchtower was a typical Bob Dylan song. When Jimi covered it he put his own feel to it which in my opinion made it better. But in Jimi's covers or in his original work, i believe that he was no less talented than dylan. Im just tired of people disagreeing with his talent simply because they hear his name more than others. his music isnt for everyone, it doesnt have to be for you

  • @syndicate010 Very true, Jimi did to Dylan what Stevie Ray Vaughan did to 'Little Wing'. Simply saw an opportunety to cover what they thought was a great song in a way they thought would be better.

  • awesome cover

  • Tim Rose claimed authorship of this and after hearing his version Hendrix's manager Chas Chandler of the Animals got Jimi to cover it. It was his first big hit. I saw Tim Rose about 10 years ago playing at the Half Moon in Putney, London. He talked a lot between numbers and was very entertaining but was heckled by an audience member claiming co authorship of another of his songs 'Morning Dew' which sounds pretty similar to Hey Joe as it happens.

  • so who is covering? and who has the original version..?Q?? i love this cover or original version btw.

  • ITS A HENDRIX SONG! damn how come some people dont know that.. its a shame.

  • this version sounded so great that it could be the original XD im sorry.

  • its a hendrix song but hendrix didnt write it, he made a cover and it is the most popular version so thats why some people think he wrote but he really didnt

  • so true!

  • Let me hit you with my rythm stick XD

  • Whole Lot of Love reminds me of this song.

  • Very well done account of the Yardbirds over the years. The Crawdaddy now that was some time ago!Great stuff.........
