If you are in College Park,GA. you can sometimes see up to 3 airplanes taking off at just about the same time, in the same direction. Two take off at the same time, while the 3rd plane trails by about 10-20 seconds.

I find it common to fly that close to another airplane when landing at a major airport. I have seen other airplanes close by when landing in Atlanta, and had a similar close encounter when landing in LAX. I was on airtran at the time when a turbo prop USAir was landing right next to us.
