I remember this game. This event was my favorite. If I recall right... if you managed to reach the maximum distance with your rocket... didn't the background go all black and you encounter a sign saying "End of Space"?

That's correct. But you get to the end of the solar system and what I'm guessing is Pluto has a sign stuck in it.
