The assumption that a hyena could kill a tiger is untrue. Because while the hyenas have the strongest jaws in the animal kingdom, they are far smaller than tigers. So hyenas are not stronger than any of the Tigers, they have stronger jaws, but that is not the same thing.

Tigers are srtonger and heavier, but lions have more advantages. Out of 14 trainers on a blog, they favor the African Lion. Clyde Beatty is a trainer of both, and claimed that in fights between them, 18 tigers were killed and only 4 lions. Even Animal Face off favored the male African Lion.

most people say that tigers are stronger, but that is a lie! tigers may have big and huge muscles but when it attacks, it may be fast but is very weak, meanwhile, the lions' attacks are averagely fast but it is very strong enough to make the tiger fall and paralyze it. Plus, the lion has a mane which is a battle armor, lions knew that the tigers always attack necks, so lions now have a battle ready mane to deflect tigers' weak attacks and strike it with one powerful paw. to use bite. tiger can strike with their body weight, where as lions has to use front leg muscle

2) tigers have bigger manes and much higher bitting force; they also do the throat choking move, the reason they dont do that all the time is because the bitting is so powerful that its enough to snap the spine without having to chock to kill

Funny how both tigers and lions are presented as 'cute, friendly' (almost cuddly) animals when they're quite the opposite (can turn quite aggressive when being faced with a human whose reactions they can't comprehend).
