@Lilpig222 Ubuntu will will work the same way with a disc and is much more stable. If you ever want to install another Windows system, just build a new partition and also install Oracle© so the two can interact with eac hother. Windows will now be virtual. I hope this helps.

Did you format XP over?

Try going to your motherboard model on your motherboard manufacturer's website, and see if there's any USB drivers.

to way i do it is go into bios and change boot order so cd drive comes before C:\ drive so it boots OS disc first and install new OS

u need to go to BIOS by pressing F2 when ur computer is turning at the logo screen not when widows is starting up the check all settings and make sure that it boot from CD/DVD drive first some computer will not ask you yo press any key to boot CD

That's all there is to it? I just purchased a new Acer desktop from Best Buy for my daugher and it came with Vista, she hooked it up last night and can't stand Vista and wants to go back to XP. I thought it would be more complicated than that.

It is.. You need ALL the drivers for your hardware in your computer.. go to acers website, and see about you can find it.

hi i have a problem, i understand the process now but what i had did first was delete all my partitions with my vista reinstall DVD and i tried to reinstall it and when its at the finial step, it ust hangs there then a black screen,

i let it install for hours and still nothing, so i did was install xp and when i did that xp did not find my sata drivers, so i had to slipstream the drivers needed into a cd, then i was able to get it to work but now my vista drivers wont work on xp, can you help?
