They are simply a real band. Maybe they need a new producer or whatever engineer. Studio work is always just a polished up representation. The beauty can be hidden behind the sound and the vocalist's input is dampened. There are so many artists and bands that don't sound good live for various reasons but live and acoustic is really demanding and all the clips I've seen of QOTSA they are relaxed and professional.

They will be recording soon i think. After Reading and Leeds Josh went and finished recording and producing the new Eagles Of Death Metal album. now they are on tour, Josh is just finishing stuff up with Arctic Monkeys new album. I read in NME some time back that he took Stone Age out to the Desert Studios to write some new stuff to record at some point during this year. We will know soon when they are back recording. I think a new tour will come around some time next year.

The problem with Mike Shuman is perhaps his looks and stature - he looks abit like all these up-their-own-arse "indie" bands that flood the charts nowadays and get musically dwarfed by QOTSA ... same with that guy on keys. Nick stood out, but I still think his disposal was right, if only morally...

Except the incident involved Josh's (now) wife. So it is a very real issue for Josh obviously. It's not like he hit some random chick.
